Riding School• The focus at Berrymans Horse Farm, is to provide a fun, engaging learning experience for riders of all abilities.

Our trusted team of school horses means we can provide lessons for all abilities of riders. Special care is taken with nervous riders and beginners.   At Berrymans Horse Farm we can combine a lesson with a trek so that all abilities can enjoy the riding, the scenery and test their skills.  Nervous riders can cast away their fears and take confidence in our quiet schoolmaster horses.

• Lessons can be individual or group-based and lasts from half to one hour. At Berrymans Horse Farm we feel that

a good half hour session is adequate for young children and beginners.  The emphasis is on making riding a fun learning experience! Lessons are limited to groups of 6 which means that your progress can be assessed on a personal level.  At Berrymans Horse Farm we find that the trekking tracks compliment the riding school particularly for beginners and novices. On the tracks riders grow in confidence, relax and so can concentrate more on improving their riding technique.

My Narrativeby Brooke Berryman

Team Work on the Farm

One day a little girl called Brooke was riding her horse through the forest and fields near where she lived at Berrymans Horse Farm. She lived here with her mum, Dad and little brother. Brooke loved to ride her horse called Tony. Tony was a beautiful Brown horse with a white stripe

down her face.

We lived on a farm where people came and went for weekend trips and I went on hacks and cross country rips all weekend. The fields and paddocks where so green with buttercups and daisy in the grass. A stream where we could stop and have a tea and cake stop and the horses had a drink. One weekend I went on a ride on Tony where I met some other girls with there horses, so I rod over to them and introduced my and Tony. The other girls introduced themselves as Ciara, Mikaela and Sienna. I ask them to be my friends while they

where stying at the farm, then we all said goodbye and arranged to meet in the morning. I was so happy to meet new friends.

The next morning all the girls met me at the country kitchen on the farm. We started to talk about horse riding competitions and they said to each other that they could all sign up together as a team of 4 girls. They asked if they could speak with my mum and get Brooke to join the

team. We where all so excited. Brookes mum Allison said “yes”. We all jumped with excitement and rang out jumping. We started to plan and went into the yard and started to do our duties, we needed to get the horses ready for exercise routine.

That afternoon we all went over and signed up for the competition. We called our team the Sugar Cubes – because the horses love sugar cubes. We had to do 3 competitions each and get points out of 100 points the highest team to score where the winners. These where:

Dressage – 35 points

Jumping – 30 points

Cross country – 35 points

There were so many great riders in the other teams, we didn’t really think we where going to win. We all just enjoyed are new friendship and would be friends for life.

We all sat waiting for the last person to complete there section. We had done well but we weren’t sure where we got to on the leader board. At the end we all stood together and said, that we all had a great day together and we will always be great friends every summer.

Finally the results came in. In 3rd place was The Cola’s, in 2nd place The Nuts, and in 1st place was The Sugar Cubes – we jumped so high we couldn’t believe it. We were so happy. We ran back and told are families and they where all so proud of our team work and friendships we

had got. We gave our horses extra sugar cubes that day , then put them in the field to relax.

We finished our night with dinner with all the families. What a great weekend and summer holidays on the farm and new friends.
