Horse Competitions and races Equestrian Show Jumping This sport is where rider and horse both have to jump over a series of obstacles. Both rider and horse both have to work together to win the competition. Show jumping is very exciting, and fun to watch. The Jumping position is-very long stirrups, and slightly backward upper body position, believed to keep rider in secure position. Horse Racing Horse Racing is an equestrian sport in which rider and horse have to race other riders to the finish. Whoever passes the finish line first is the winner. Winner gets prizes and is rewarded. Horse racing takes place in many different places around the world. There are two different forms of the sport, such as, flat racing, where the horse and rider simply race around a track, competing with other riders, and National Hunt Racing, which can be further divided into hurdling, and steeple chasing.

Equestrian Show JumpingThis sport is where rider and horse both have to jump over a series of obstacles. Both rider and horse both have to work together to win the competition. Barrel racing is a sport where both rider and horse attempt to weave in and out of barrels in the fastest time. The race is usually timed. The winner is the one with the fastest time who weaved in and out of the barrels the fastest the barrels are placed in a triangle shape in the center of the ring. The time begins when the horse crosses the starting line and ends when the barrel pattern has been successfully executed and horse and rider cross the finish line.

PoloThe objective is to knock the ball into the opposing team’s goal by using a long handheld mallet. The number of people played in indoor polo is three players. Outdoor polo is played with four players on each team. Polo is usually an outdoor sport but is played indoors also. Horses usually have to train to play Polo.

Tent PeggingTent Pegging is played with a horseman riding at a Gallop. The rider uses a sword or a lance to pick up a ground target and carry it away. The rider who returns to the finish first is the winner. The rider has to lean over and watch out for obstacles while trying to get the ground target.

SteeplechaseSteeplechase is another form of horse racing where there are obstacles such as jumping fences and ditches. The winner is the rider who gets to the finish line first. The rider and horse who win are rewarded. Steeple chasing is a fun event to watch.

ShowmanshipShowmanship is an event found at many horse shows. It involves a person (not riding the horse) leading the horse wearing a halter or a bridle through a maneuver called a patttern. The horse is not judged by their conformation. Rather, the horse is judged by how well the owner presents the horse or how well the horse is behaved, with additional advantage by how well the horse is groomed and brushed. Most showmanship classes in the United States use Western style horses, although English style horses are seen in thise event.

DrivingDriving is a sport in which you don’t mount a horse, but instead, you ride in a carrige with another person, drawn by a single horse through a series of obstacles. This is called carriage driving. This sport has three phases, such as, dressage, cross-country marathon, and obstacle cone driving, and is most simmalar to the equestrian sport, Eventing.

Horse-ballHorseball is a game played on horseback, where a ball is handled, and points are scored by shooting the ball into a hoop. The game is played on teams, usually with four players on each. The sport originated in Argentina, in early1700. There are several international competitions organized by the International Horse-ball Federation the Euripean championships, the World Championship, and the clubs FIHB champions league.
