Naonal Championships which will be held in Hobart in July. Congratulaons Ian! You broke the Zone record and now you are off to the Naonals. We are very proud of your achievements and wish you every success in Hobart. PSSA SPORT - Beginning this Friday, students parcipang in PSSA Football and Netball will travel to the venue by bus. Historically parents have volunteered to drive students to the games and for this, we as a school, have been extremely grateful. It was indicave of the wonderful, supporve community that we have at Hornsby North. However, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain this system with a change in working commitments for parents, and the D0E states that parental drivers can be used if other sources are not available. We are able to hire buses, so unfortunately, this means there will be a cost to parents. The cost will be $7.00 per week/per student. Students will be invoiced separately. Mr Lawrence and I would like to encourage parents to connue to aend the games even though they will not be transporng students. Once again, thank you to all parents over the years who have transported students. It is with a lile sadness that Mr Lawrence made this decision because it was part of that wonderful partnership between home and school that exists at Hornsby North. However, please come to the games if you can. Have an early break and enjoy a cup of coffee with other parents! Mr Lawrence will provide families with a copy of the draw with mes and the venue so that parents can plan ahead and support the students in the same manner as in previous years. TERM 2 FEES and CONTRIBUTIONS - The above accounts will be sent home tomorrow. Thank you to the parents who responded to the reminders last term and paid in the holidays. The fees for this term includes a number of excursions and may be costly for some parents. Please contact me if you have difficulty meeng those costs. Arrangements can be made for part or me payments and support can be given. Please endeavor to pay Term 2’s fees promptly, so the school can meet the payments required by outside providers. Opening of the Cawthorne Street/ Rofe Park Walking Track - as regular users of the Cawthorne Street drop-off will see, the Cawthorne Street to Rofe Park Walking Track construction works are now almost complete. This will provide a safe walking path for our children accessing Rofe Park for sport and an alternative access to the parking area at Rofe Park.

This work is being done by Hornsby Shire Council, under the leadership of Donna Fitton from the Natural Resources Team. Donna has been working with our awesome Grounds Coordinator, Helen Curry for almost two years on this project, so it's great to see this project coming together. There is still more work to do to complete the project and there is tape protecting the construction areas, so while it's open for use: everyone is asked to please take care. Mother's Day Stall - 10 May—You'll see in this newsletter information about the Mother's Day Stall. The wonderful Marika Skinner is coordinating this for the P&C - and your help is needed. This is a Year 5 Parents event - but all helpers are welcomed. Please contact Marika directly. Working in the Canteen—We're always looking for more volunteers for the canteen, and all volunteers (both new and current) are advised that we now need you to have completed a Working with Children Check (WWCC) Declaration. This is not a full WWCC and there is no fee, but it is a form that is now required by the Department of Education for all volunteers who are parents. We take everyone's privacy very seriously and as part of the P&C, the canteen committee will hold these forms securely and the school office will be provided with a copy for their records. If you are a current volunteer please see Vicki Stubbings in the Canteen to collect your declaration form and instructions. Anyone who is not a parent will require the full WWCC and this can be applied for online, via Service NSW. P&C Meeting—The next P&C Meeting will take place on Monday, 14 May at 7:30pm. Save the date for your diary - everyone is welcome! Janelle McIntosh, P&C President. CANTEEN NEWS - DIP OF THE WEEK: Avocado. Volunteers are always welcome in the Canteen. If you can help at all, please visit the Canteen. Helpers: Thursday 3 May: Asha Sidhu, Lingling Yang. Friday 4 May: Savana Li, Crystal Yong. Monday 7 May: Nicole Judge, Janet Parise, Asha Sidhu. Tuesday 8 May: Asha Sidhu, Megha Baran, Alison Cornish. Wednesday 9 May: Asha Sidhu, Mina. Vicki Stubbings, Canteen Manager.

SCIENCE NEWS - The next Lego-Robotics Club group will begin Term 2 Week 4. We are currently playing at Rofe Park with 2 Senior and 2 Junior teams. The players were all excited to play with first competition games and were rewarded with 3 wins from 3 games (our Senior 2’s had a Bye!) It’s wonderful to see all our new players having a great time and demonstrating their newly learned skills. The wins were so impressive that I immediately gave the players 2 week’s holiday to bathe in the glory! Peter Hughes. PSSA FOOTBALL - Match Day 2 of the Hornsby Zone PSSA Boys Football Competition was played against Waitara P.S. at James Park on the last Friday of Term 1. The Junior boys played out a tough 2-1 win, while the Senior boys controlled their match to win 1-0. The Player Points for this week were awarded to Mathias A. and Jensen W. Congratulations boys! This season the objective for all teams is to develop, through skills acquisition, a positive, proactive approach to football. Playing the ‘Hornsby North FC way’, not results, will be the focus. I was very pleased with the attitude and application of both teams again last week! I am looking forward to a positive performance against Hornsby Heights P.S. in the derby match at Montview Oval this week! For full match reports and the training/game schedule, please check the HNPS Sport Blog or Twitter @chad_lawrence_ This Friday will see a bus used for transportation for all football and netball students to and from the venue. All parents that are able to attend the games are encouraged to meet the students at the venue to provide support and cheer them on! Thanks, Chad Lawrence, Sport Coordinator.
