Do you spend time, every day, alone and in silence listening to how God is calling you? If not, you are missing out on a won-derful opportunity to develop a more personal relationship with Him. Unless we talk and more importantly, listen to God every day, how else will we know how He is calling us? Consider making a retreat this year, spend some “alone” time with God.

You shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. — Deuteronomy 6:5

A Prayerful Remembrance

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, remembering the promise of the Resurrection, I humbly and sincerely offer these prayers and Masses for all the faithful departed.

I thank you for all that we shared in this earthly life. I hope that my prayers will help them on their journey to the full-ness of life and happiness with you in heaven. Purify them from all that is not holy so they may dwell in the mystery of your perfect love forever.

I pray, that with your grace and blessings, I shall be reunited with them again in paradise.

Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three

We had seventeen people who worked very hard. We heard no complaints from the residents! Christmas Poinsettias and Donations- Help us adorn our church and honor or remember our loved ones by giving a do-nation to our Christmas fund, all gifts, great or small, are appre-ciated. Please fill out the form that is inside the envelope (print clearly) and place along with your donation in the envelope provided in the pews. Make checks payable to St. James Altar Society. Place the envelopes in the collection basket. Annual Presbyteral Convocation, Nov 5-7: Fr. Stan and Fr. Mike will be attending the Convocation and will return for the 5:30 mass Wednesday. Communion Services will be held in place of our usual daily masses.

Men’s Prayer Service: Come join the men of our parish this Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 pm for an evening of reflection, prayer and food! Date was change due to All Saints’ Day, Nov. 1st.

Next Sunday is “WHEELCHAIR SUNDAY”. Please join the Knights of Columbus for a brief presentation on how you can answer prayers, and help someone in need receive a free wheelchair. Each $150 donated can sponsor and deliver a brand new wheelchair that would sell for over 500.00. Your tax-deductible donations help the Knights change lives in an im-mediate and tangible way.

Remembering those who have died during the past year: 5:15 pm, Sunday, Nov. 18 at Sacred Heart, we will remember our parishioners and their immediate family members who have died since last All Souls' Day. Anyone wishing to remember an immediate family member at this special liturgy should call our office, 672-2945, to add them to the list. At the mass, their name will be called and you and your family will be invited to come forward and light a candle in their memory. A brief re-ception will be held at Sacred Heart Hall after the mass; all are invited!

2nd Collection Today: Religious Education.

Eucharistic Adoration this Friday, 7 am - 8 pm: St. James.

GOD’S LAWS God’s laws are not intended to burden or torment us. Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God’s laws out of fear of what might happen if we don’t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. The Shema prayer of Orthodox Jews is based on the reading from Deuteronomy today, “Hear, O Israel.” Every morning people recite the prayer as a profession of their love for God and pledge their obedience to God throughout the day. They pass on their love of God to their children, from one generation to the next. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
