White’s spiritual life theme for 2020 will be called “Come Together” and will
focus on the God-given call for unity as a body of believers. In the theme verse
Paul exclaims…
Unity is a wonderful idea, but it is hard to find in our world today. Jesus told
us long ago this unity that we are to strive for will stand out to a hurting
world when he said in John 13:35, “By this all people will know that you are
my disciples, if you have love for one another.” True biblical unity will make us
unique and different.
Where is this kind of unity through love found? It is not something emotionally based or contrived or conjured up based
on our circumstances. Instead, this kind of unity can only be found through
the power of the Spirit of God present in all believers. Unity through love is
something that should come from us in spite of how we are treated, in spite of
how we may feel, and in spite of our circumstances — because it is a passing
on of the love that Jesus has shown to each one of us. As we come together as
the body of Christ we can live out Reckless Hope.

GROWING TEENS FOR LIFE.Dear Father,
Thank you for all teenagers that are learning valuable life and work skills through the vocational program. Help us to teach
our kids the value of work. Help them to learn the skills needed for their future. Lord, we know that many of our teens will
leave our program and transition into adulthood with little support . Being able to get a job is so critical to their journey.
Continue to allow us to redirect, rebuild and restore lives through our work experience program.
FOSTER LOVE.Dear Father,
We lift up those who are
called by You to step in and
provide love, safety, security,
and stability through our
foster care homes.
Christian foster families are
true vessels of hope and
transformation to those who
need it the most.
“Whoever receives one such
child in my name receives me,
and whoever receives me,
receives not me but him who
sent me.” Mark 9:37
HEALING.Dear Father,
Thank You for the healing
power of others who come
along side those that are
dealing with difficult life
experiences. Lord, allow
Your healing power to
exist within our counseling
programs, foster homes,
and through our staff.
SPIRITUAL LIFE. Dear Father,
We come to You humbled
that White’s ministry has been
a place for children to be
cared for and loved, a place
where seeds of hope and
the message of love through
Your Son Jesus Christ can be
shared. Lord, thank You for
allowing Your mission to thrive
for over 160 years of being a
living, Christ-Centered ministry
doing kingdom work.
OUR COMMUNITY. Dear Father,
Bless the hands, the voices,
the feet, the minds, the
hearts of those who love
You and serve You through
our ministry. Keep us all
centered on You, always
aware of Your abiding
love and Your sovereignty.
Continue to bless this
community of people that
have come together to
do Your will and believe
that miracles can happen,
lives can be changed, and
people can be healed.

Hope On DisplayMEET HOSEA…
Hosea credits White’s for his reintroduction to God and “literally a lot of other things,” he says. “My sobriety, yes, but also my positivity.” He is grateful for the skills he has learned through Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), a treatment system that leads to enhanced moral reasoning and decision making.
Hosea has benefitted a great deal in the short time he has been at White’s. Coming here with just 13 high school credits, Hosea has earned 27 more, netting his high school diploma. He worked in the 50 East Garden Center and Cafe, earning experience and vouchers for his future.
One week before Hosea would leave White’s campus, he was introduced by a current staff member to a new opportunity, literally changing the trajectory of his life. Jessi Kipfer, 50 East Café Manager, stated, “A local tech company proposed a two-year apprenticeship with a living wage and the opportunity, based on his performance, to hire on permanently following the apprenticeship.” Now, she and Kenny Harvey, Director of Growing Teens, hope to attract other companies to offer similar apprenticeships.
Hosea accepted the new opportunity, even though this wasn’t his original plan. He will soon have his own apartment, supported by his work as an LED screen repairman. His new employers are impressed with his progress.
“I am so proud of him,” Jessi says. She has kept in touch with Hosea and continues to provide the support he needs as he learns to stand on his own.
Countless people at White’s have been privileged to take part in Hosea’s journey. Staff have seen how the Lord has moved in his life and in the lives of many students that have come through the program. This is just one example of the impact that the Growing Teens For Life program has made.

The Poore family (Tom, Hannah, Abigail, and Joel) began a new journey of their own over the last year. The family’s mission on this journey? To share the love of Christ with others and provide family to those in need. Scripture tells us, God sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6). A year or so into this journey, the fruits of the Poore family’s ministry to others is already clear. The Lord can work through foster families to minister to families, not just children. The Poores have been such a vehicle.
After five months of growing attached to a two year old little girl, the Poores were called to prepare to say goodbye so that she could return to her mother. But because of work the Lord was doing through their hearts and that of the two year old’s mother, this potential “goodbye” has been anything but.
The biological mother sends pictures to the Poore family so that they can see how the little girl is doing. They recently had a visit to let the kids all play, and after that play date, Hannah received a message requesting Tom and Hannah to be godparents to the little girl. Can you imagine? We are thankful for the sense of ministry on display in this story. We are thankful to God for softening hearts and allowing this child to gain so much love through a time of challenge.

I got my first genuine hug
in over a year and, as a father,
that is invaluable.
– CRA Parent
It was heart-wrenching for me
that I couldn’t help her.
And I thank God every day that
we found Compass Rose.
– parent of a Compass Rose graduate
We can actually talk again!
We can trust her!
She makes decisions now without
being impulsive and considers the
consequences of her actions.
Her self- esteem has greatly improved and
we credit that to Compass Rose, as well
as helping our family function together
again in a more peaceful harmony.
