Enhanced Performances Through Innovative Surface Engineering
Hoowaki sells microstructured tooling to provide unique surface performances on your molded products.
Our product is NOT a coating, additive or material – the functionality is imparted to molded parts without changing your material or process.
Performances may be combined in unique ways. This presentation gives some examples of these performances.

Hoowaki Microstructured Mold Inserts
Hoowaki sells microstructured metal inserts for industrial
molds
Our inserts can be flat or curved, and are designed to fit the mold
This insert creates parts with microstructured surfaces, even on
curved areas

Anti-Fingerprint
Many products depend on a perception of cleanliness and luxury
to maintain their image
Fingerprints on the product destroy that perception and damage the
product image
Fingerprint-free products maintain perception of purity – see
comparison below

Markers write normally on the plastic surface. The ink is designed to stay on
plastic, but is not permanent
Once dry, or after about 10 seconds, the ink does not rub off the surface
To write on the surface again, simply rinse the written area with water
Writeable, Washable Labeling Write and erase on surfaces with marker

Stay Clean Surfaces Honey and syrups roll right off, without leaving a sticky mess behind. For example, a no-mess spout. Effect varies with fluid used.
Viscous liquids like honey and maple syrup need a spout to pour nicely
… but the spout gets sticky easily, creating a messy, hard-to-use bottle
With a no-mess spout, liquid recollects back into the bottle, leaving no mess
behind

Eye-Catching Packaging Differentiate your product with colorful, iridescent packaging to capture consumer attention.
The same plastic packaging is found everywhere in stores
An iridescent detail flashes at the customer as they walk by, making
their favorite product easier to find
This effect can be created on a range of materials in a range of designs for the
best marketing technique

Blood Wipes Clean
Spilled blood makes objects difficult to hold, may spill onto other things,
and can be difficult to clean up
A quick clean-up reduces most of the mess until the surface can be
disinfected or thrown away
The blood-free item continues working as intended
Blood wipes easily off surfaces for the appearance of cleanliness. Surface is not anti-microbial or sterilized after wiping.

Ahh, enjoying the great outdoors…
… and getting completely filthy Good thing these products leave the outdoors behind
Mud-phobic Outdoor Gear Mud rolls off surfaces and keeps them clean

Details in products can be hard to see if the entire product is made of
the same material and color
Careful design of details can make them reflect light differently and stand out from the background
A wide range of shades can be created on the same material using
molding
Enhanced Grayscale Changes in the way the same molded material reflects light makes decorations and logos easily visible

Viscous products can be very difficult or impossible to empty
from their containers
A Hoowaki surface inside the container makes the product
easy to get out
This surface may also be useful for industrial barrels, and other medical
or cleaning product containers
Empty Containers of Viscous Contents Pour viscous liquids out of containers more easily

Slippery surfaces are uncomfortable to grasp and can
be a hazard
Hoowaki’s surface allows air to circulate between your skin and the
surface and provides raised features to hold
Our surface is comfortable and prevents dangerous slipping
Enhanced Grip Surfaces that are easy and comfortable to grasp, even when wet

Some surfaces are naturally sticky, and can be uncomfortable to touch or may
stick to other items
A surface that isn’t sticky even in hot or humid weather may
make it easier to use
Finally that leatherette seat isn’t sticking to me…
Easy Release (Anti-Stiction) Create normally sticky surfaces that do not adhere to each other
