    When to change the dustbag

Change the dustbag when the colourmarker in the dustbag change indicator

fills the display, or sooner if it is nolonger effective (see possible reasonsfor this below).

    Miele dustbags are disposable and

designed to be used only once.

Dispose of the dustbag when it is

full. Do not attempt to reuse them assuction would be reduced.

    Checking the dustbag change

    indicator

^ Attach the standard floorhead to thesuction tube. Do not use any of theother floorheads or attachments asthey will cause the dustbag changeindicator to give a false reading.

^ Switch the vacuum cleaner on andselect the maximum power setting.

^ Lift the floorhead off the floor a little. Ifthe marker completely fills thedustbag change indicator, youshould replace the dustbag with anew one.

    How the dustbag change indicator

    works

The dustbag change indicator is set fornormal household dust. This generallycontains a mixture of dust, hair, carpetfluff, threads, grit etc.

However, if the cleaner has been usedto vacuum up fine dust, such asplaster, brick dust, cement or flour, thepores of the dustbag will becomeblocked very quickly. This affects theair permeability of the bag, and themarker will indicate that the bag is "full"even when it is not. If this happens youmust still change the dustbag because

suction power will be greatly reducedby blocked pores in the dustbag.

If, on the other hand, you havevacuumed up a large amount of hairand carpet fluff which typically containsa lot of air, the indicator may fail toreact even though the bag is full. Youshould still change it! Both these

    extremes can occur.
