LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Ore- gon, Texas and Michigan know it will take a near-perfect effort to knock off top-seeded Penn State at this weekend’s NCAA volley- ball championships. Still, no one is handing the Nit- tany Lions the title. Michigan and Texas have lost matches to Penn State this year, but all three challengers are con- fident they can not only play with the talented Nittany Lions, but have the ability to win it all. Third-seeded Texas (27-4) will face unseeded Michigan (27-11) in Thursday night’s first semifi- nal, with No. 5 Oregon (29-4) fac- ing Penn State (33-2) in the other. Michigan and Oregon are making their first Final Four appear- ances; Texas is making its fourth in five years. Penn State doesn’t have many flaws and is seeking its fifth na- tional title in six years. The Nit- tany Lions have won 36 of 39 sets since losing to Nebraska on Oct. 28. The Nittany Lions bring size and a lot of movement, but the Ducks counter with quickness and improvisation. Oregon’s at- tack, directed by all-Pac 12 junior setter Lauren Plum, features mul- tiple offensive options similar to calling an audible in football. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe says he’s been fined $5,250 by the NFL for wearing a message on his uniform promoting Ray Guy for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Kluwe confirmed Wednesday the penalty he expected from the league for a first-time uniform violation. He wore a note bearing the words “Vote Ray Guy” on top of his jer- sey patch commemorating the Hall of Fame during Sun- day’s game against Chicago. Kluwe said his show of support for Guy’s induction will probably be a one-time act. He says he’s happy he “got people talking about” the fact that no punters are in the Hall. Kluwe calls the voting process “a sham of a system if you’re not going to ac- knowledge every facet of the game.” Vikings From Page 8 27 victory over Osmond in boys’ basketball action on Tuesday.
