Letter from President Deb Voth

“Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things, I am tempted to think there are no little things.” –Bruce Barton

As I reflect on the last year, it’s easy to see the little things that come together to make the big impacts for children with special needs and their families through Rainbows. We have an amazing group of employees, children, families and volunteers that make a great team.

In October we celebrated 74 employees who have been employed by Rainbows ten years or more. These dedicated individuals bring passion and professionalism to each and every home visit, hour of child care and little task they perform. This fiscal year we served a total of 4,411 children.

I see employees being resourceful in finding solutions through intelligent decision making and determination. Several were honored this year by various groups including Wichita Business Journal, Sunflower Foundation, InterHab, and the Arc of Sedgwick County.

We’re plunging into new technology with new state forms, iPads for Infant/Toddler Services staff, and new financial software. You can find news and information about Rainbows on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn The Studio Blog, The Canvas Newsletter, and RainbowsUnited.org to name a few.

We continue to refine processes and continuously improve in all aspects of our business. Our financial audits are up to date and positive. Our agency culture is more interactive; I see achievement through teamwork, partnerships and collaboration more now than ever, including partnerships with TOP Learning Center and United Way of the Plains for the Early Childhood Block Grant.

More than 795 volunteers put in 8,895 volunteer hours. This includes our Rainbows United, Inc. volunteer Board of Directors led in 2013 by Jeff Jabara with Spirit AeroSystems.

Thank you for all the little things you do to make so many wonderful opportunities happen for children withspecial needs and their families through Rainbows.

Deb Voth President
