If our transition is from graduating from high school to college, from college to our first job, or from one job to another or moving. Transitions can include one pastor retiring and calling a new installed pastor. It can be a challenge or a new blessing. Changes present opportunities or crisis. A lot depends on the attitudes and emotions of those in the transition. God was always challenging in the Bible. God called Abram to go from his home to a new country he would give him. God called Moses to lead his people from slavery in Egypt to the Promise Land. Jesus asked his disciples to follow him. Jesus was always challenging his disciples to make changes in their lives and mission. He asked them to make big or little changes or transitions. Jesus asked the disciples to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. They were afraid because storms could come up quickly. So it is no small wonder that as Christians and members of the church, we are uncertain and fearful of changes in our church. Transitions can be filled with anxiety or opportunity. Many changes can be for the better. Now, our church family is going through a transition time. It is important to remember our church family has a great 175 year history and legacy of outstanding pastors. As we go through these transitions, it is important to remember from Old Testament and New Testament stories, God was with the faithful all during the journey. So far, I have found my transition with Barry Christian church positive and exciting in meeting new people and new worship and new music. Blessings in Christ, Pastor Bob

Transitions Transitions can be scary, challenging and exciting. If

our transition is from graduating from high school to

college, from college to our first job, or from one job

to another or moving. Transitions can include one

pastor retiring and calling a new installed pastor. It can be a challenge or a new

blessing. Changes present opportunities or crisis. A lot depends on the

attitudes and emotions of those in the transition.

God was always challenging in the Bible. God called Abram to go from his home

to a new country he would give him. God called Moses to lead his people from

slavery in Egypt to the Promise Land.

Jesus asked his disciples to follow him. Jesus was always challenging his disciples

to make changes in their lives and mission. He asked them to make big or little

changes or transitions. Jesus asked the disciples to go to the other side of the

Sea of Galilee. They were afraid because storms could come up quickly. So it is

no small wonder that as Christians and members of the church, we are

uncertain and fearful of changes in our church. Transitions can be filled with

anxiety or opportunity. Many changes can be for the better. Now, our church

family is going through a transition time. It is important to remember our

church family has a great 175 year history and legacy of outstanding pastors. As

we go through these transitions, it is important to remember from Old

Testament and New Testament stories, God was with the faithful all during the

journey.

So far, I have found my transition with Barry Christian church positive and

exciting in meeting new people and new worship and new music.

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Bob

We would like to extend our gratitude to all those who donated to the “Undie

Sunday” collection for the Clay County Clothes Closet. In all, Barry donated 68 pairs

of socks, and 74 items of underwear which is in turn, given to children in need.

Geri Hamer, on behalf of the Clay County Clothes Closet.

As summer rains fall from heaven, ripening grass, flowers and crops, so God’s Word

comes down from heaven, producing abundant harvests in our lives.

New Ministry Started on Sunday, July 20. Many of you were surprised on

Sunday morning to find a beautify crafted name tag with you name on it.

Barbara Mayberry’s daughter made the tags from our current list of regular

attendees. If you are new to Barry, once you have been attending at least

four times, you too, will receive a name tag. We are excited about this new

ministry that will help us to get better acquainted with each other as well as

assist our guests in getting to know us. Each Sunday morning, please pick up

your name tag (they are clip on - not pin) and put it on and smile.

After the worship service, return the name tag to the tag collection bin.

We hope you will support this ministry and wear your name tag. If you do not

find a name tag with your name, please let us know and we will have one

made for you!
