MLL 134N

Laminated log MLL 134N comprises four pieces glued

together so that the hard heartwood is located mainly on the

surface of the log. The log is durable, energy-efficient and

moisture-safe as a wall structure. Massive wood also has

excellent acoustic properties. It absorbs sounds and thus

creates a calming atmosphere.

TIGHT AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT WALL

STRUCTURE

An essential part of the energy-efficiency of Honka log

houses is the tightness of the log walls and structures, which

is created with technically advanced solutions, such as the

notch technology, researched seals and structural joints.

The corner joints of the MLL 134N logs utilise an advanced

arc notch, the shape of which makes the log wall even more

airtight and waterproof as well as energy-efficient. The log is

quick to install due to the factory-fitted joint seal. Its long-

term durability has been tested in a test that corresponds to

50 years of ageing stress.

Laminated log MLL 134N is also suitable for use as part of the energy-efficient Honka LowE™

external wall solution that enables the creation of low-energy log buildings.

FINISHED DESIGN

In addition to the advanced technology, the Honka laminated logs embody several unique details

that crown the look and design of the walls. The low humidity of the logs and the profile of the

upper section of the log minimise the creation of the dark shadow line between log joints that is

formed in standard laminated logs as the result of drying.

A new, narrow seam between the logs is familiar with Honka’s non-settling FXL-logs. The narrow

seam log wall surfaces give a more modern look and design.

The arc notch also makes the log corner visually finished, since the inner corner does not have

the machining gap used in the previous notch solutions.

Extensive machining impacting the finished end result of the Honka logs, such as drilling to hide

electric cables and partition wall grooving, contribute to the high-standard and finished joints

between partition walls and log walls.

SAFE AND HEALTHY HOME

Honka massive log walls “breathe naturally” letting water vapour move freely from the air to the

wall structure and back.

The arc notch and HonkaTech™ water-resistant seals prevent rain water from penetrating the

wall structure as horizontal rains, storms and extreme weather phenomena become more

common. These solutions will continue to be safe in the future, unlike fibrous joint seal materials

that may form a culture medium for microbes when wet.

The laminated log is glued with environmentally-friendly glue that, according to studies, does

not obstruct the best feature of the massive wood, namely its breathability. Gluing minimises

the twisting and cracking of the logs. Gluing strength is ensured by a delamination test that is

supervised by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and whose extreme conditions are

estimated to correspond to weather stress of at least 40 years.

In the emission classification of surface materials, uncoated log made of spruce or pine is

comparable to the lowest emission class M1 without testing.

The quality system of Honka and the European Technical Approval (ETA) entitle Honka to CE-

mark its customer houses. The CE marking means that the product meets the characteristics

specified in the construction directives of the EU.

ROUND LOG RL 170

H O N K A L O O K L O G S

The round log is the only correct solution for those who em-

brace the traditional look. With regard to technology, howev-

er, the Honka round log is modern – the brilliant wedge log

technology and patented crack control technology make the

wall structure airtight, durable and energy efficient.

TIGHT AND DURABLE WALL STRUCTURE

The ingenious Honka wedge log technology, which makes the

sharp wedges of the top log press firmly against the back of

the log underneath, was originally developed for the tradi-

tional round logs. The wedge log technology provides excel-

lent tightness and fitting of the log. The patented crack con-

trol system and registered designs are innovations that im-

prove the quality, durability and visual looks of the tradition-

al round log house.

When massive wood dries, it shrinks and tends to crack.

Honka has been granted a patent on its massive log crack

control method, the so-called spiking, which guides the natu-

ral cracks of the log to appear on surfaces that remain hid-

den from the eye as much as possible.

An essential part of the energy-efficiency of Honka log hous-

es is the tightness of the log walls and structures, which is

created with technically advanced solutions, such as the

notch technology, researched seals and structural joints.

SAFE AND HEALTHY HOME

Honka massive log walls “breathe naturally” letting water vapour move freely from the air to the

wall structure and back.

In the emission classification of surface materials, uncoated log made of spruce or pine is com-

parable to the lowest emission class M1.

The quality system of Honka and the European Technical Approval (ETA) entitle Honka to CE-

mark its customer houses. The CE marking means that the product meets the characteristics

specified in the construction directives of the EU.

FINISHED LOOK

The round log can be planed partially straight, for example

around the windows and doors of the house, which makes

the architraves sit tight while also giving the appearance of

the entire house a finished look. The formed round log has

other uses as well: logs can also be planed on the inside to

open up new opportunities for furnishing, interior decoration

and hanging pictures. Honka's forming of the round log is

excellent tightness and fitting of the log. An essential part of the energy-efficiency of Honka log

houses is the tightness of the log walls and structures, which is created with technically

advanced solutions, such as the notch technology, researched insulation and structural joints.

FINISHED DESIGN

In addition to the advanced technology, the Honka laminated logs embody several unique details

that crown the look and design of the walls. Extensive machining impacting the finished end

result of the Honka logs, such as drilling to hide electric cables and partition wall grooving,

contribute to the high-standard and finished joints between partition walls and log walls.

ECOLOGICAL MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE

Round log RLL 230 is set apart by its manufacturing technique where the chipped log is halved

before drying. Drying time is reduced and considerably less energy is needed for drying. The

product is under the EU design protection.

SAFE AND HEALTHY HOME

Honka massive log walls “breathe naturally” letting water vapour move freely from the air to the

wall structure and back.

The log is glued with environmentally-friendly glue that, according to studies, does not obstruct

the best feature of the massive wood, namely its breathability. Gluing minimises the twisting

and cracking of the logs. Gluing strength is ensured by a delamination test that is supervised by

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and whose extreme conditions are estimated to

correspond to weather stress of at least 40 years.

In the emission classification of surface materials, uncoated log made of spruce or pine is

comparable to the lowest emission class M1.
