About this guideThis guide describes how to integrate Honeywell Galaxy Dimension series control panels in Security Center, and how to monitor them in Security Desk. This guide supplements Security Center and Honeywell documentation. For more information, see "Product documentation" on page iii, and the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual found in the Documentation\Controllers folder of your Security Center installation package.

Understanding Galaxy Dimension control panel integration

The Security Center Intrusion Manager role integrates Galaxy Dimension control panels into Security Center for centralized monitoring, control, and reporting.

The integration allows you to do the following:

• Map Galaxy Dimension control panels to Security Center intrusion detection units.• Map groups of inputs and devices on the control panel to Security Center intrusion

detection areas.• Monitor intrusion detection area state changes in real-time in Security Desk.• Receive events and alarms from the control panel, and monitor them in Security Desk.• Generate detailed reports on intrusion detection areas activities and intrusion detec-

tion unit events in Security Desk.• Attach cameras to intrusion detection areas to view recorded video associated with

events and alarms from the panel.• Monitor the connection between the Security Center server and the Galaxy Dimension

control panel using the heartbeat monitoring feature.• Create event-to-actions for events that are sent from the control panel.• Create custom events that can be used in event-to-action configuration.• Manually arm and disarm the intrusion detection areas defined on your intrusion

panel in Security Desk using the Intrusion detection area widget.• Receive live notifications on input state changes in Security Desk.• Trigger intrusion alarms on intrusion detection areas in Security Desk.

How Galaxy Dimension control panel integration works

Honeywell Galaxy Dimension series control panels are integrated to Security Center using the Intrusion Manager role. The Intrusion Manager role receives events from the control panel over an IP network, reports them live in Security Desk, and logs them in a database for future reporting. The role also relays user commands to the control panel (such as arming and disarming the intrusion detection areas), and triggers the outputs connected to the panel through event-to-actions (for example, an Intrusion detection area master armed event in Security Center can trigger an output on the panel).

How Honeywell Galaxy terminology is used in Security CenterHoneywell Galaxy intrusion detection components are mapped as entity types in Security Center. The following table lists some Honeywell Galaxy components and terms, and how they are represented in Security Center.

Galaxy Dimension control panel

The control panel that is monitored and controlled by Security Center. Each control panel can control multiple groups.

Intrusion detection unit

Group A group of zones configured on the control panel that specify a physical area, such as a floor of a building. These groups can be monitored and armed in Security Desk.

Intrusion detection area

Zone Inputs for devices such as glass break detectors, motion sensors, temperature sensors, etc., that are connected to the control panel.

Zone function The zone’s function, such as monitoring intruders, fire, AC fail, entry, exit, and so on. The zone function is configured on the control panel.

Input function

Output Output pin connected to the control panel. Output

Full set This action arms a whole group. Master arm

Part set This action arms the zones in a group that have the Part attribute enabled (usually the perimeter inputs of a group).

This section describes the new features and enhancements of Honeywell Galaxy Dimension series control panels supported in Security Center 5.1 SR3, as well as resolved issues, known issues, and limitations.

What’s new in 5.1 SR3The following new features and enhancements were introduced in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension control panel integration for 5.1 SR3.

• IP communication. Security Center can now communicate with the Galaxy Dimen-sion control panel using an IP connection with the Honeywell Galaxy Ethernet Module E080-2.

Known issuesThere are no known issues with integrating Galaxy Dimension control panels in Security Center 5.1 SR3.

LimitationsGalaxy Dimension control panel integration includes the following known limitations.

Limitation Description

55922 If an input is triggered from Security Center (from triggered intrusion alarm or the heartbeat monitoring feature), the input settings are overwritten with the values configured in Security Center.Workaround: Make sure the input configuration is the same in Security Center as on the control panel.

56703 When you create custom events for the intrusion detection panel, the event list in the Intrusion detection unit events task in Security Desk is not automatically updated.Workaround: Delete the Intrusion detection unit events task, and create a new task.





Installation and upgrade notesIn order to use this Honeywell integration in Security Center 5.1 SR3, you'll need to install a Security Center add-on. This add-on is available from the GTAP Product downloads page. Installation instructions are included with the package.

Supported Honeywell Galaxy devicesSecurity Center 5.1 SR3 supports the following Honeywell Galaxy Dimension control panel devices. For each device, the corresponding firmware and certification status is listed.

56828 Delay Arming (master/perimeter) is not supported.

57040 If inputs on the Galaxy Dimension control panel are mapped to virtual zones in Security Center, some input state change notifications are not received.

57484 Offline logs are not supported.

57485 Security Center does not support the Galaxy configuration “Re-ordering of the on-board RIO, SW3, dip-switch 8”.

57491 When an expansion module is connected or disconnected from the Galaxy Dimension panel, you are not notified of the corresponding input and output states in Security Center.

57492 The Intrusion Manager role cannot report the “Entry delay started” control panel event.

57517 Clicking the buttons on the intrusion detection area widget may have no effect, depending on your control panel input configuration. For more information about configuring input functions, see the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

57921 The “Intrusion detection area input trouble” event does not report which input triggered the event.

Before you begin

This section explains the things you must know and do before integrating the Galaxy Dimension series control panel in Security Center, and before configuring Security Center intrusion entities.

Read the release notesRead the release notes for any known issues and other information about this release. See "About this release" on page 5.

Make sure you have the proper licenseTo use Galaxy Dimension control panels in Security Center, your license must include the correct “Number of Intrusion detection units” you want to control. For more information about licensing, see "Technical support" on page iv.

Secure your networkBest practice: It is recommended that the Galaxy Dimension control panel and the Secu-rity Center Intrusion role run on a secure network.

Configure the control panel for RS-232 communicationIf your Security Center server is in a remote location, and you want to communicate with the local Galaxy Dimension control panel using RS-232 serial communication, the onboard RS-232 communication port must be configured on the panel.

For more information about configuring the RS232 communication port settings on the control panel, see “56.6 - Int RS232 Port” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.NOTE If you are using IP communication, you do not need to perform these steps. Skip to "Configure the control panel for IP communication" on page 14.

Before you begin: Install a Serial to IP adapter.

1 Using a keypad on your control panel, set the communication Mode as Direct.





The Direct communication mode allows the panel and the Security Center computer to interface using an RS-232 cable.For more information about configuring the communication mode, see “56.6.1 Mode” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

2 Set the alarm signalling Format as SIA, and the SIA level to level 4.SIA level 4 allows Security Center to control the Galaxy Dimension control panel.For more information about programming the SIA format, see “56.1.2 = SIA (Security Industries Association)” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

3 Create the Account Number (Account No.).The account number must be a unique number that identifies the site. It can have up to six digits.

Best practice: Do not start the account number with a zero.

For more information about creating an account number, see “56.6.3 Account No.” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

4 Configure the Comms Setup.The RS-232 port serial communication settings must match the settings of the Security Center serial COM port used to communicate with the intrusion detection unit. Configure the control panel for IP communicationIf you want the Security Center server to communicate with the local Galaxy Dimension control panel using IP communication, you must configure the Ethernet module E080-2 communication settings on the control panel.

For more information about configuring the Ethernet module, see “56.4 - Module Config” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

NOTE If you are using RS-232 communication, you do not need to perform these steps. See "Configure the control panel for RS-232 communication" on page 12.

Before you begin: Install the Honeywell Galaxy Ethernet module E080-2 with firmware version 2.11.

1 Set the IP Address of the Ethernet module.For more information about setting the module IP address, see “56.4.1.1 IP Address” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

2 Set the alarm signalling Format as SIA, and the SIA level to level 4.SIA level 4 allows Security Center to control the Galaxy Dimension control panel.For more information about programming the SIA format, see “56.4.2.1 = SIA (0-4) Security Industries Association” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

3 Using a keypad on your control panel, set the trigger event status to On.4 Repeat step Step 3 for each trigger event.5 Set the destination IP address and Port number of Security Center.

By default, the Security Center port number is 10002.For more information about configuring the Primary IP’s IP address and port number, see “56.4.2.2 - Primary IP” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

6 Create the Account Number (Account No.).The account number must be a unique number that identifies the site. It can have up to six digits.

Best practice: Do not start the account number with a zero.

7 Using a keypad on your control panel, set the destination Receiver option to Single.Selecting Single indicates that the Primary IP destination is used for signalling alarms.For more information about setting the Receiver option, see “56.4.2.5 - Receiver” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

8 Set the Protocol format to TCP (Transmission Control Protocol).For more information about setting the protocol, see “56.4.2.8 - Protocol” in the Honey-well Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

9 Configure the Remote access settings for the control panel.





Set the Access period option to Any Time.Setting the access period to Any Time allows Security Center to access the Galaxy Dimension control panel at any time. For more information, see “56.4.3.1 - Access Period” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

Set the access Mode to Direct Access.Setting the Mode to Direct access allows Security Center to initiate the remote con-nection with the control panel. For more information, see “56.4.3.2 - Mode” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

10 For the SIA Control option, enter the IP address of the computer sending SIA events.Set this option so the SIA controls sent from the control panel to Security Center are recognized by the Ethernet module.For more information about setting the SIA Control option, see “56.4.8 - SIA Control” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

Create the Intrusion Manager role in Config Tool to manage the control panel.

1 From the Home page in Config Tool, open the System task.2 Click the Roles view.3 Click Role.

The Creating a new role window opens.4 Scroll down the list and select Intrusion Manager.

5 From the Server drop-down list, select the server assigned to this role, and click Next.6 On the Specific info page, do the following:

a Enter the name of the data server.b Enter the database name (for example, IntrusionDetection).c Click Next.

7 On the Basic Information page, do the following:a Type the Entity name (Intrusion Manager)b (Optional) Type a description for the role.c Select Existing partition, New partition or System partition.

Create the Galaxy Dimension control panel as an intrusion detection unit in Config Tool.

1 From the Home page in Config Tool, open the Intrusion detection task.2 Click Intrusion detection unit.

The Creating an intrusion detection unit wizard opens.3 In the Basic Information page, do the following:

a Type the Entity name (Intrusion unit).b (Optional) Type a description for the entity.c Select Existing partition, New partition or System partition.d Click Next.

4 From the Intrusion Manager drop-down list in the Intrusion detection unit informa-tion page, select the Intrusion Manager role you created in "Create the Intrusion Man-ager role" on page 16 to manage the control panel.

5 From the Unit type drop-down list, select the manufacturer (Honeywell).

6 In the Interface type option, select IP address or Serial port. If you selected IP address, type the IP address and Event port number you config-

ured on the panel in Step 5 of "Configure the control panel for IP communication" on page 14.

If you selected Serial port, from the drop-down list, select the communication port the panel will connect to.NOTE The COM ports shown in the drop-down list are not necessarily available on your computer. You can find the available COM ports for your computer in the Device Manager in Windows, under Ports (COM & LPT).

IMPORTANT The settings of the COM port on your computer must match the communication settings you configured on the panel in Step 4 of "Configure the control panel for RS-232 communication" on page 12.

7 In the Account number field, type the account number username you configured on the control panel in Step 3 of "Configure the control panel for RS-232 communication" on page 12, or Step 6 of "Configure the control panel for IP communication" on page 14.

8 In the Remote user code field, type the username of the Galaxy Dimension control panel.The default user code is 543210.

9 Click Next.10 On the Creation summary page, do the following:

a Verify the information.b If everything is correct, click Create, or click Back to modify your settings.After the intrusion detection unit is created, the following message appears: The Opera-tion was successful.

11 Click Close.

The intrusion detection unit appears under the Intrusion Manager role in the entity tree.

Configuring the intrusion detection unit

To receive intrusion events and alarms from the Galaxy Dimension control panel in Security Desk, you need to configure the intrusion detection unit (panel) in Config Tool.

Configure intrusion detection unit propertiesIn the intrusion detection unit Properties tab, you need to activate the inputs, outputs, and intrusion detection areas to monitor, assign inputs to receive intrusion alarms, and connect keypads to intrusion detection areas.

1 In the Config Tool Home page, open the Intrusion detection task.2 Under the Intrusion Manager role in the entity tree, select the intrusion detection unit

to configure, and click the Properties tab.

NOTE The Interface type, Account number, and Remote user code fields were configured when you created the intrusion detection unit.

3 (Optional) To synchronize the control panel’s clock with Security Center server, set the Automatic clock synchronization option to ON.





NOTE When you synchronize the clocks, the time is set to the control panel's local time zone.

4 In the Input pins and output pins section, select the inputs and output pins to monitor.You can select an entire panel Line, or individual inputs and outputs.NOTE The number of inputs and outputs depends on the type of panel you have. For a list of Galaxy Dimension control panels supported in Security Center, see "Supported Honeywell Galaxy devices" on page 6.

5 (Optional) Configure the Heartbeat input to monitor the connection between the panel and Security Center server. See "Configuring the heartbeat connection" on page 27.

6 In the Intrusion detection areas section, do the following:a Select the Intrusion detection areas to monitor in Security Desk.

The Intrusion detection areas are the groups you configured on the control panel. IMPORTANT If the Group option is disabled on the control panel, all inputs are automatically part of the same group. For more information about enabling/disabling the Group option, see “63.1=Groups” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

b From the Intrusion alarm input drop-down list, assign an input to the intrusion detection area. If the “Trigger intrusion alarm” action is triggered on that intrusion detection area from Security Desk, the input you select is activated, and can initiate another action on the panel (depending on your panel configuration).IMPORTANT The input you select must already be part of that intrusion detection area (group) on the control panel. For more information about configuring groups on your control panel, see “52.10=Group” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

Best practice: Select an input with the Intruder function so the resulting action trig-gered on the panel is immediate. If the input you select has the Exit, Entry, or Final input function, an entry/exit delay is applied to any action.

7 (Optional) In the Custom event mappings section, create custom events you can trig-ger from a keypad on the panel. See "Map inputs to intrusion detection areas" on page 24.

8 In the Peripheral mappings section, map peripheral devices (keypads) to intrusion detection areas.Configuring the peripheral mappings is helpful when receiving duress events in Secu-rity Center. For example, if someone sends a duress event from a keypad to Security Center, you will know which keypad sent the event by its ID, and where the keypad is located by the intrusion detection area it is mapped to.





NOTE You can map a keypad to multiple intrusion detection areas.

a Click .b In the Peripheral id column, type the keypad address.

The keypad address is assigned on the keypad itself. For more information about assigning a keypad address, see “Option 58 - Keypad” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

c From the drop-down list in the intrusion detection areas column, select an intru-sion detection area (group) to connect the keypad to.

d Repeat Step a to Step c for every peripheral you want to map to intrusion detection areas in Security Center.

9 Click Apply.





Map inputs to intrusion detection areasBy default, when you receive events from the control panel in Security Desk, you are only told which input triggered the event. For example, if an area is master armed and an intrusion event occurs, you will only know which input triggered the event. To know where the input is located, you need to map the inputs to intrusion detection areas (groups).

Before you begin: Activate the inputs and the intrusion detection areas to monitor in the intrusion detection unit Properties tab. See "Configure intrusion detection unit properties" on page 21.

1 From the Intrusion detection task in Config Tool, select the intrusion detection unit to configure, and click the Peripherals tab.





2 Select an input, and at the bottom of the Peripherals tab, click Edit the item ( ).A dialog box appears.

3 In the Name field, the name of the input is displayed. This is the name of the zone con-nected to the panel.

4 (Optional) Type a Logical ID for the input. Setting a Logical ID helps you to easily identify the input in Security Center.

5 (Optional) Type a Description for the input.6 From the Intrusion detection area drop-down list, select an intrusion detection area to

map to the input.IMPORTANT The intrusion detection area must be the same group the input is part of on the control panel. For more information about configuring groups on your control panel, see “52.10=Group” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

7 From the Input function drop-down list, select the input function.IMPORTANT Every intrusion detection area and input has a specific function on the control panel. For example, inputs can be used to monitor entry, intruders, exit, etc. You need to set the same input function in Security Center as on the panel. For more information about configuring an input’s function on the control panel, see “Option 52- Program Zones” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

8 In the Input type field, select one of the following options according to the input’s Part set configuration on the panel: Undefined. The input does not have a set type. If you select this option, the input is

considered as a Perimeter input type. Perimeter. The input is configured to monitor the perimeter of an intrusion detec-

tion area. Interior. The input is configured to monitor inside the intrusion detection area.

9 Click OK, and click Apply.

Set the time zoneYou can set the time zone for the intrusion detection unit (control panel) in the Location tab.

1 From the Intrusion detection task in Config Tool, select the intrusion detection unit to configure, and click the Location tab.

2 From the Time zone drop-down list, select the time zone for the unit.NOTE The Latitude and Longitude settings have no affect on the unit.

3 Click Apply.





Create custom event mappingsYou can create custom events that are received in Security Desk when a PIN is entered from a keypad on the control panel. You must map the user code to an event name.

NOTE Only users with security code 1.0 and higher can trigger custom events from a keypad.

1 From the Intrusion detection task in Config Tool, select the intrusion detection unit to configure, and click the Properties tab.

2 In the Custom event mappings section, click .3 In the User code column, type the user code located on the control panel.4 In the Custom event name column, type a name for the custom event.

TIP Type a meaningful event name so you can easily identify that event later on.

5 Click Apply.

You can now create events-to-action using the custom events. See "Map Galaxy panel events to Security Center actions" on page 31.

Configuring the heartbeat connectionThe heartbeat feature monitors the connection between Security Center server and the control panel. When this feature is enabled, the Intrusion Manager role sends messages to the panel every 30 seconds. If the Security Center server goes down, the control panel stops receiving messages from the Intrusion Manager, and an action is triggered on the panel (for example, notifying a third party, such as a central station). When no input is selected, this feature is disabled.

To enable heartbeat monitoring:

Configure the heartbeat connection on the control panel

To configure heartbeat monitoring on your control panel, you need to create two links. One link is from an input to a latch timer. The input receives the heartbeat messages from the Intrusion Manager. If the link is deactivated (the server goes down), the latch timer notifies another input through link number two, which can trigger another action on the panel.

Before you begin: Make sure you have two free inputs, and a latch timer.

1 Using a keypad on the control panel, set the zone Functions for input 1 and input 2: Set the Function for input 1 to 17- Link. This function allows the input to be used as

a link source.





Set the Function for input 2 to a desired function. This function is the action you want to take when the connection between Security Center and the control panel is lost (for example, the 26 - Log function records in the event log that an input has been activated).

For more information about how to configure an input’s function, see “Option 52- Pro-gram Zones” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

2 Create a link from input 1 to a free latch timer. Using the keypad, set the Link Source as input 1. Set the Link Destination as the Latch Timer, and enter a latch timer value higher

than 60 seconds. Every time the Intrusion Manager messages input 1, the link is activated. When the link is deactivated, the link timer counts down from the latch timer value. If the timer reaches zero, it means the connection between Security Center and the panel is lost. This activates the latch timer, which triggers another link.

3 Create a second link from the latch timer to input 2. Set the Link Source as the latch timer. Set the Link Destination as input 2.

Configure the heartbeat connection in Security Center1 From the Intrusion detection task in Config Tool, select the intrusion detection unit to

configure, and click the Properties tab.2 From the Heartbeat input drop-down list, select the input to receive the heartbeat

messages from the Intrusion Manager.

NOTE The input must be the one you configured as the Link source on the control panel (input 1). See Step 1 in "Configure the heartbeat connection on the control panel" on page 27.

3 Click Apply.4 Click the Peripherals tab.5 Select the input you configured as the Link source on your panel (input 1).6 At the bottom of the Peripherals tab, click Edit the item ( ).7 In the dialog box that opens, from the Intrusion detection areas drop-down list, select

an intrusion detection area to map to the input.IMPORTANT The intrusion detection area must be the same group the input is part of on the control panel. For more information, see “52.10=Group” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.





8 From the Input function drop-down list, select 17 - Link.

9 Click OK, and click Apply.10 Select the input you configured as the Link destination on your panel (input 2).11 At the bottom of the Peripherals tab, click Edit the item ( ).12 In the dialog box that opens, from the Intrusion detection areas drop-down list, select

an intrusion detection area to map to the input.IMPORTANT The intrusion detection area must be the same group the input is part of on the control panel. For more information, see “52.10=Group” in the Honeywell Galaxy Dimension Installer Manual.

13 From the Input function drop-down list, select 26 - Log, or the function you config-ured for input 2 on the panel.

14 Click OK, and click Apply.

Input 1 now receives the heartbeat from the Intrusion Manager role, and input 2 triggers an action if the connection is broken.

You can associate cameras to intrusion detection areas so that when they are viewed in Security Desk, video is displayed instead of the intrusion detection area icon.

1 From the Logical view task in Config Tool, select the intrusion detection area to config-ure, and click the Cameras tab.

2 Click to add a camera.3 In the dialog box that opens, select a camera, and click OK.

The camera is added to the Camera list.

4 Click Apply.

Galaxy Dimension control panel events can trigger actions in Security Center. For exam-ple, a Unit tamper event on the control panel can trigger a Security Center alarm.

NOTE Output pins on the control panel only support the Trigger output action.

1 From the Home page in Config Tool, open the System task.2 Click the General settings view, and click the Actions page.3 In the Actions page, click .4 In the Entity type page, select Intrusion detection unit or Intrusion detection area,

Monitoring intrusion detection areas

In the Monitoring task you can monitor intrusion detection events and state changes of intrusion detection areas in real-time. Events from the control panel are sent to Security Desk through the Intrusion Manager role.

A New event alerts appear on the Monitoring tab.

B View a list of events associated to the intrusion detection areas you are monitoring in real-time in the report pane.Click the button to choose the columns you want to display in the report pane. The following information is displayed by default:

• Event. Event type that occurred. For example, Intrusion detection area master armed.

• Description. Details about the event.• Event timestamp. Time when the event occurred.• Source. Intrusion detection area where the event occurred.





C View system events for the entities you are monitoring in real-time in the canvas. If a camera is associated to the intrusion detection area, playback video is displayed in a canvas tile. If no camera is associated to the intrusion detection area, the intrusion detection area icon ( ) is displayed.

D Control the entities you are monitoring using the widgets in the dashboard. For more information about controlling intrusion detection areas, see "Changing intrusion detection area states" on page 39.

E Configure and carry out actions or trigger alarms in the Actions tab. For more information about actions, see "Creating hot actions" on page 40. For more information about triggering alarms, see "Alarm monitoring" on page 44.

F Select which entities you want to monitor in the Entities tab. Monitoring an entity means monitoring the events linked to that entity. An event may be linked to multiple entities. See "Creating a monitoring task" on page 37.





Enable the events you want to monitorMonitoring an entity means monitoring the events linked to that entity. Before you moni-tor the events linked to intrusion detection areas on the control panel, you’ll need to select which events you want to monitor in Security Desk.

1 From the Home page in Security Desk, click the Options button. 2 In the Options dialog box, click Events.

3 Select intrusion detection events you want to view in the event list in the Monitoring task report pane.

4 In the Display in tile column, select the event check boxes you want to view in the Monitoring task canvas. If the check box is cleared, the event only appears in the report pane.





Creating a monitoring taskYou need to select the entities you want to monitor in the Monitoring task. You can either create a new Monitoring task, or add intrusion detection areas to an existing Monitoring task.

The following image displays the Entities tab, with intrusion detection area in the Monitored entities list.

To create a new Monitoring task:1 From the Home page in Security Desk, open the Monitoring task.2 Type a name for the Monitoring task.3 In the selector pane, click the Entities tab, and click .4 In the dialog box, do the following:

Under Select an entity type, select Logical view. Under Select entities, select the intrusion detection areas you want to monitor.

TIP You can select multiple intrusion detection areas by using Ctrl+click or, Shift+click.

5 Click Add. The selected entities are added to the Monitored entities list.

6 To display events in the canvas, move the Tile monitoring slider to On. When a new event occurs, Security Desk displays the event in an empty tile. When there are no more empty tiles, the oldest entity (that is, the entity that has been dis-played for the longest time) is replaced by the new event.You can also turn off monitoring in a particular tile to protect the content in the tile from being overwritten by new events.

7 (Optional) In the Monitored entities list, in the Tile box, choose which tile will display the entity.By default, events are display in any tile (Tile=All). You can set Tile 1 to display events happening in a specific intrusion detection area. You may associate more than one entity to the same tile.

8 (Optional) To stop monitoring in a tile, select the tile in the canvas, and then click the Stop monitoring button on the Tile widget, either in the dashboard or in the tile toolbar.

Changing intrusion detection area states

Intrusion detection area states can be changed manually using a keypad on the control panel, or using the Intrusion detection area widget. The following lists the possible intrusion detection area states:

• Master armed• Perimeter armed• Disarmed• Ready to arm• Intrusion alarm active• Input supervision troubleIMPORTANT When you arm an intrusion detection area from Security Center using the intrusion detection area widget, delay arming is not supported.

The Intrusion detection area widget appears only when the current tile is showing an intrusion detection area. This widget allows you to change the state of an intrusion detection area.

NOTE You need the Trigger intrusion alarm and Arm/Disarm intrusion detection area user privileges to use the Intrusion detection area widget controls.

The Intrusion detection area widget commands are as follows:

Button Description

Disarm. Tells the intrusion panel to ignore all sensors attributed to the selected intrusion detection area. If an alarm is set off by this area, disarming it also turns the alarm off.

Perimeter arma. Arms the selected intrusion detection area so that only sensors attributed to the area perimeter set off the alarm if triggered. Other sensors, such as motion sensors inside the area, are ignored.

a.If an intrusion detection area is master armed and you want to perimeter arm it, you mustfirst disarm the area, and then perimeter arm it.

Master arm. Arms the selected intrusion detection area so that all sensors attributed to the area set off the alarm if triggered. Some manufacturers call this arming mode “Away arming”.

Trigger an intrusion alarm. Triggers an intrusion alarm on the selected intrusion detection area. The alarm can also trigger an action on an input if you mapped the intrusion detection area to an intrusion alarm input. See "Configure intrusion detection unit properties" on page 21.

Creating hot actions

You can create hot actions in the Actions tab of the Monitoring task. Hot actions are actions that are mapped to computer keyboard function keys so you can quickly carry out the action (for example, Trigger intrusion alarm) from Security Desk by pressing Ctrl+funtion key. Typing Ctrl+F1 performs the first hot action, typing Ctrl+F2 carries out the second, and so on. You can also carry out a hot action by pointing to a hot action and clicking the adjacent button that appears.

Configure a hot actionNOTE Mapping the hot action to a function key is specific to each user, but unique throughout all Monitoring tasks.

Change the hot action order (function key assignment)

5 Configure the options for the selected action, if necessary. For example, to create a Trigger intrusion alarm hot action, you must select an intrusion detection area or input to receive the alarm.

6 Enter the Description that will appear in the hot actions list7 Click OK.8 Click to return to the normal view.

The hot action can now be executed.

When a hot action is selected in the Hot actions list, you can also perform the following functions:

• Delete the selected hot action.

• Edit the selected hot action.

• Execute a one-time action (same procedure as configuring a hot action).

• Move the selected hot action up the list. This changes the function key assigned to the hot action.

• Move the selected hot action down the list. This changes the function key assigned to the hot action.

System status

The System status task monitors the status of intrusion detection units and intrusion detection areas in real-time.

Intrusion detection areasAllows you to monitor the status and health issues of the intrusion detection areas within a selected area. Select the option Include sub-areas to include all intrusion detection areas within nested areas.

Displays for each intrusion detection area:

• Entity. Intrusion detection area name.• Logical path. List of all parent areas, starting from the main server.• Health. Online, Offline, or Warning.• Arming state. Master arm, Perimeter arm, Ready to arm, Arming, Disarmed, Dis-

armed (input trouble), or Armed (Alarm active).• Bypass. Active/inactive (represented by an icon).• Alarm active. Active/inactive (represented by an icon).Also allows you to arm, disarm, and launch a health history report on the selected intrusion detection area.

Intrusion detection unitsAllows you to monitor the status and health issues of the intrusion detection units within a selected area. Select the option Include sub-areas to include all intrusion detection units within nested areas.

Displays for each intrusion detection unit:

• Entity. Intrusion detection unit name.• Health. Online, Offline, or Warning.• AC fail. Yes () or No (blank).• Battery fail. Yes () or No (blank).• Tamper. Yes () or No (blank).

Intrusion detection area activities

Intrusion detection area activities is a type of Intrusion Management task that investigates activities (master armed, perimeter armed, input bypass activated, duress, etc.) in selected intrusion detection areas.

Intrusion detection unit events

Intrusion detection unit events is a type of Intrusion Management task that investigates events (AC fail, battery fail, unit lost, input trouble, etc.) pertaining to selected intrusion detection units.

Alarm monitoring

Alarm monitoring is a Security Desk task that allows you to monitor and respond to active alarms in real-time, as well as review past alarms. For example, if you created events-to-actions, a Security Center alarm may be triggered when you receive an intrusion event from the control panel (for example, duress, intrusion alarm triggered, AC fail, etc.). You can acknowledge the alarm, or forward it to someone else, depending on how you want to respond.
