Local filmmaker Ann Fishman prem-iered her film, Marriage Material, last year at The Palm Beach International Film Festival. With momentum follow-ing the festival, XFINITY is now offering the movie On Demand. Fishman explained, “This is a great platform to be on because it validates the quality of the film which lifts us to a higher level.”

The film stars SNL veteran Victoria Jackson and several actors from the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. Ann shared, “Local film is important because it supports local artists and provides an opportunity for our community to be reflected in film and in so doing makes a mark on culture globally.” The film is available for rent or buy at XFINITY, Amazon and other platforms. Airing on local public broadcasting sta-tions nationwide is a series titled Travels and Traditions with Burt Wolf. The series follows travel expert Burt Wolf as he experi-ences the arts, culture and entertainment in cities across the world. Apex Productions filmed Burt at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, the International Polo Club, and Phil Foster Park and more. The episode highlights the County’s historical perspective and destinations. The series will air on local public broadcasting stations and all around the states.

Burt Wolf is also presenting segments from the program on Facebook and Twitter. “We are thrilled to work on this project and see it presented on TV stations across the US. This is great

The Emmy Award-winning TV series Born to Ex-plore with Richard Wiese and Lion Country Safari (LCS) recently teamed up to bring students on a virtual field trip of the one-of-a-kind wildlife attraction. 6th graders from New Jersey ventured south to enjoy the prime “winter” weather of The

Palm Beaches and learn about animal adaptation in up-close encounters. “We already do virtual field trips for elementary schools in PBC, so to showcase this on national TV will be a great opportunity. There is nothing quite like hands-on learning to build an appreciation for animals like giraffes, rhinos and zebras,” said LCS Marketing Director Jennifer Berthiaume. LCS’s professional and experienced staff are accustomed to a variety of film, television and still photography productions, making LCS an ideal location for a seamless day. The segment will air on April 2 on ABC stations nationwide.

L-DUB FEST SELECTS ITS OPENER In 2015, TLC Network picked up on the story of transgender teen Jazz Jennings and her supportive family, based out of South Florida. Season 1 of I Am Jazz premiered to 1.3 million viewers nationwide, holding steady at approximately 1 million viewers for the majority of the season’s run.

Season 1 reviews were widely positive, with Variety Magazine’s Brian Lowry calling it “simply told and heartfelt, cap-turing the challenges associated with sexual identity at such a vulnerable age.” Jazz lives the life of a typical teen-ager, visiting the beach, dining in Mizner Park, and shopping along Atlantic Ave-nue in Delray Beach with her friends

and family. Season 2 has just started production and is slated for a summer premiere. See more at tlc.com/tv-shows/i-am-jazz.

While the rest of the country shivers, The Palm Beaches enjoy warm temperatures as visitors and residents bask in the light of magic hour. Our coastal sunny locations are calling out to our friends up north for their summer campaigns and offers spots for the creative teams to choose from that read “coastal tropical”.

The Palm Beaches have not one, but two piers that stretch out across the Atlantic waters—one in Juno Beach and one in Lake Worth. The two are quite different in that the Juno Beach Pier location typically gets more waves for surfing and is surrounded by undeveloped park land with only a few buildings in sight and a reg-ular group of kite surfers to the north.

On the other hand, the Lake Worth Pier is more centrally located and has more buildings in the immediate area with a variety of com-merce at the nearby casino with restaurants, a ballroom, Olympic-size pool and shopping within walking distance. Both provide coastal backdrops that sell summer fun in a big way!

Need tropical landscaping in the background? The Palm Beaches are famous for our manicured hedges with pops of vibrant color. Mounts Botanical Gardens is a great backdrop for lots of options from walking paths to home style gardens with sprawling floral porti-cos, cottage arbors, and trellises - along with classrooms onsite to assist with production needs.

A BEAUTIFUL SOUND

Performing in front of a wide variety of audi-ences takes courage and skill. Alicia Spillias co-founded the Organic String Quartet (OSQ) as a college student in 2006, and 10 years later, she is now running a successful company! The OSQ is best known for their wedding performances, but they also play for anniversaries, birthdays, and corporate events. Their instrumental setup of two violins, a viola and a cello are performing at venues across Southern California.

Alicia’s roots began in WPB at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see your child succeed. I am very proud,” said Ken Spillias, Alicia’s father. “However, she clearly got her musical talent from her mother who was an ac-complished folk singer and sang with the Palm Beach opera cho-rus.” Recently Alicia performed as a violinist at Katy’ Perry’s pre-Grammy party.
