I present to you the annual report of the Institute.
BRIEF HISTORY OF GGNIMT Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) was set up by
GKEC in 1997 in affiliation with IKG PTU, Jalandhar and approved by AICTE to offer
undergraduate and masters courses in Computer Applications and Business Management.
GGNIMT has to its credit the privilege of being the first institution to be affiliated with
PTU for BBA and BCA courses in the region. GGNIMT has also to its credit the
distinction of being the venue for the university counselling for the first three years.
Constant academic results in BBA and BCA paved the way for offering MBA and MCA
programs in 2001, HMCT in 2011 and B. Com in 2012.
Under the able guidance of Gaini Harjeet Singh , Giani Lal Singh, Giani Raghbir Singh,
Prof. PrithiPal Singh Kapur, Prof. Sohinderjit Singh, S. Gursharan Singh Narula, Dr. S. P
Singh and the other honourable members of GKEC, the institute has done extremely well
in academics and cultural activities and has touched the zenith of its glory.

ACADEMICS & RESEARCH We believe that in this era of competition, only excellence will survive. Therefore, we
always make efforts to inspire and prepare the students to achieve brilliance. We are proud
to share that GGNIMT has instituted several awards and scholarships to promote
excellence amongst the meritorious and needy students. We feel happy in sharing with you
that GGNIMT has awarded scholarships worth Rs.12,97,760 to 218 students as on
date.
In this globalised world, the role of research in an academic institution is significant for its
sustainability and development, and it is imperative to have knowledge-driven growth
based on innovation. We believe that the quality of research work directly translates to the
quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, thereby benefiting the students, the
society and the country. GGNIMT ensures that an annual research platform is provided to

the faculty members and students to contribute to the solutions to many problems faced by
our society and industries. Some of the initiatives taken in this direction are as follows:
The Business Management Department organised a two day PTU Sponsored National
Seminar on the topic “New Frontiers in e Governance” on 22-23 May, 2015. The
seminar was inaugurated by Dr.S.S. Johl, Honourable Chancellor Central University,
Bathinda. Keynote Adddress was delivered by Dr. Manish Bansal, Dean Academics,
MIMIT, Malout. Eminent academicians who mentored the technical sessions were Dr.
Harpreet Singh, Dr. Parampal Singh and Dr. J.S. Pasricha. In this conference more than 50
research papers were submitted and presented by the research scholars from all across the
region.
The Department of Computer Applications organized a National Seminar on
“Social Computing Phenomenon and its implications” and a Panel Discussion on “Net
Neutrality” on 18th April, 2015. More than 50 delegates from all over the region
participated in the event. Dr. Maninder Singh Head, Dept. of Computer Science &
Engineering, Thapar University, Patiala delivered the Keynote Address. Through his
elaborated deliberations he was able to give the broad outlook of what
the social computing is bringing to us.
A one-day Multi-Stream International Conference on “Research & Society” was
organized on 29 Oct, 2017.Over 200 delegates from different universities, colleges and
corporate houses from all over India and abroad participated in the conference. They
presented their research papers on various streams like Commerce, Management,
Education, Computer Applications, Engineering and life sciences. Dr. S.S Johl,
Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda was the Chief Guest for the day. Dr. R.
S Ghuman, Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala
presented the Keynote Address. The event also included an expert group discussion on the
topic: “Academic Institutions and Research Scenario”. Dr. S. P Singh, Former VC, GNDU,
Amritsar, Dr. B. N Singh, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Dr. Amit
Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar and Dr. Jaswinder Singh Brar, Prof.,
Dept of Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala were the distinguished panelist. Three
proceeding books entitled “Emerging Technological Insights”, “Global Perspectives of
Education and Social Sciences” and “Analytical Insights for Modern Business” containing
about 225 research papers of different streams was published with ISBN numbers and
released during the event.
With the view to provide industrial exposure to the students, they are made work on live
industrial projects. Some of the projects undertaken by the students are as follows.
LIVE PROJECTS • Jeevan Singh-MBA 4th, Aditya Chauhan BBA 4th and Sagar Aggarwal BBA 4th
conducted a Market Mapping project for Amul Milk.
• Tanvi Goyal MBA 2nd and Neha Sharma MBA 2nd, sem conducted a Mystery Shopping
Project for Onion Insights at Shopper Stop. Ludhiana
• Tanvi Goyal of MBA 4th sem and Prabhleen K. Kainth of MBA 2nd sem conducted a
Mystery Shopping Project for Onion Insights at Nandos’ , Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana.
• Gaurav Ahuja, Tanvir Singh, Himanshu of BBA 4 th sem did a project on Market
Mapping for Supreme Industries in Ludhiana.
• Pallavi Kalra,, Nikita Sharma and Sunil of MBA 2nd did a project on Market Mapping for
Kara on behalf of Future Group in Ludhiana.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN CULTURAL ACTIVITIES GGNIMT believes in transforming the students into total personalities. The extracurricular
involvement is thus a key tool in realizing this dream. Our students participate at college
and university levels in literary, fine arts, and cultural events to enhance their nuances and

IKG PTU YOUTH FESTIVALS
A most eagerly awaited event where institutes all across the region participate in various
cultural, literary, fine arts events. Every Year our students participate in various categories
and bring laurels to the Institute. Our students have excelled repeatedly in IKG PTU Zonal
and Inter-Zonal Youth Festivals for the years 2008- 2017
• During IKG PTU Zonal Youth festival -2015, our students won 3 Gold Medals in One act
play, Mime and Folk Song , 2 Silver Medals in Creative Writing and Rangoli and 4 Bronze
Medals in Quiz, Mehndi, On the Spot Painting and Light Vocal Song
• IKG PTU Inter – Zonal -2015 held at DAVIET Jalandhar. The students once again made
us all proud by bagging 2 Gold Medals in Mime and Folk Song, 2 Silver Medals in One
Act Play and Mehndi
• AFTAAB -2015, an inter college festival organized by PIMT Mandi Gobingarh. Prabhjot
Singh, (BBA 3), Gurpreet Singh (BCA 1) and Harmeet Singh (BCOM 3) bagged 2nd prize
in singing
• S. Gurvir Singh Sarna Memorial inter-college competition was held at Guru Nanak Khalsa
College for Women on 23 Feb 2016. More than 20 students participated in the event.

• During IKG PTU Zonal Youth festival -2016 , The Institute got the first position in One
act Play, Debate, Mimicry, Creative Writing, Group Song, second position in Mime while
the events Folk song, Light Vocal, Classical Instrumental and elocution bagged the third
position
• To keep the youngster rooted to their traditions, the institute organized a Turban Tying
Competition & a Quiz Competition on the Life and Teachings Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji-
Jan 2016, 2017
• IKG PTU Zonal Youth festival-2017 was held at PIMT Mandi Gobindgarh. The students
bagged Silver Medals in Indian Group Song and Creative writing -Poem. Vishwaas
Vaishnav of BCA 3rd semester was adjudged the Best Actor.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES “All work and no play make jack a dull boy”. GGNIMT strongly believes in blending
recreational activities to break the monotony of academics.
• In this context an intra-college Chess Tournament was organized in Sep -2015 where the
players from all across the college teased their brains and displayed brilliance
• 5 students participated in the Inter-College IKG PTU Chess Tournament in Sep-15
• 4 Sports volunteers attended Workshop on Anti-Doping awareness organized at CGC
college in Feb-16
• The institute team participated in Inter-College IKGPTU Cricket Tournament Feb-16

• In March 2016, an intra- college cricket tournament was organized where all the classes
participated enthusiastically and proved their mettle.
• Vasu Dev Sharma of B. Com. 5th Sem brought glory to the Institute by bagging a silver
medal in ‘Best Physique-Male’ event during the “IKG PTU Inter College Power Lifting,
Weight Lifting and Best Physique(M) Tournament” held at Chandigarh Group of Colleges,
Landran on 5 November -2017.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT - RECENT INITIATIVES The institute has formed various clubs to enhance the student’s personality and to develop
their entrepreneurial skills.
Persona Club We feel that Personality is one of the most important thing in the life of a person that
determines not only his professional success but also his overall attitude and behavior in
life. Club -PERSONA headed by Prof. Ramandeep Kaur and Prof. Navreet Kaur
organizes sessions to enhance the student's pattern of thought, attitude, behavior,
communication ability and other personality traits. Some of the activities organized by
club are:
• Lecture on “Stress Management” by Dr. B.P Mishra
• Power Talk on :Goal setting by International Corporate Trainer, Mr. Kiran Kurwade
• Motivational Seminar on “Sensitizing youth Towards Senior Citizens” in association with
Senior Citizen welfare society.
• One-day seminar on “Communication- A vehicle for Personality Development “in
association with New Delhi Institute of Management, New Delhi.
• Nukkad Natak on “Women Empowerment” on the occasion of Womens’ Day.
• English Communication Workshop by Touch Stone
• Five-day Workshop “MePlus++” on the theme “Characteristics of Healthy Personality”.
The GD Club The under the leadership of Prof. Parvinder Singh, through its weekly classes prepares the
students with the skill of group discussion. There have been deliberations and discussions
on topics such as:
• Is there a need to review reservation policy in India?
• Punjab 2020: An agenda for progress.
• Should students participate in politics?
• Can movies impact students ‘lives?
• Education System in India.
• GST
• Should Chinese products to be banned in India?
NSS Unit The NSS Unit under the guidance of Prof. Jagmeet Singh and Prof. Malika Singh
organized various awareness seminars to sensitize the students about their social
responsibilities. Some of the events coordinated by the club during the year are:

to vote across the city
• Awareness seminar on ‘Road safety &Traffic rules’ for college students.

• Awareness Session: Students signed petition to celebrate Green Diwali
• Nukkad Natak on ‘Drug De-addiction’ to spread awareness about severe consequences of
drugs addiction among youth
Entrepreneurship Club under the supervision of Prof. Parvinder Singh and Prof.
Ripudaman Kaur organizes various entrepreneurial activities for nurturing the budding
entrepreneurs.
• A three day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme was organised in association with
RCED, Chandigarh and Dept. Of Science and Technology, Govt of India In Oct, 2015
• In another event, the Club members demonstrated their business acumen by putting up and
independently managing stalls during Basant celebration in Feb -2016.
• Members of the Club attended Two-Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program at
GGNIMT organized in association with RCED Chandigarh , Dept of Science and
Technology Govt of India on.18 – 19 August,2017
• Entrepreneur Club members attended One –Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive

College, Ludhiana on 29th September, 2017
Thinkers’ Forum is a discussion group intended to provide a fun, non-judgmental
forum to discuss and debate philosophical topics with other critical thinkers. The club
under the leadership of Prof. Maneet Kaur and Prof. Neha Erry has so far organized the
following activities:
• Debate Competition on the topic “Is Demonetization a Master Stroke By the Govt. of
India”.
• i-Think Activity (Analysis and Interpretation of the Movie ‘Life of a Pi’)
Apart from these clubs, there are a few upcoming Clubs in the domain of Photography,
Music, Performing Arts and Adventure.

DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Business Management education plays a critical role in today's dynamic business
environment. The rapid trends of globalization and technological changes have made it
difficult for organizations to survive in the competitive world. As a result, the importance
of management education has increased many folds. Business executives need to update
their skills due to sudden changes in the external environment. Keeping this in mind, the
learning methodology adopted by the department is based on Discovery Learning through
case studies and role plays. In addition, the department provides opportunities for skill
development through live projects, power point presentations, business plan projects and
industrial visits. The department offers BBA, B.Com (Professional) and MBA program
with dual specialization.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
The world's dependence on computers continues to expand, both in the business arena and
in personal life. This reality, coupled with the ever-changing nature of the field, creates an
increasing demand for new knowledge, skills, and information. Keeping this in view,
GGNIMT offers two computer application courses: BCA, BCA (LE) and MCA, MCA
(LE). BCA and MCA are new age graduation and master degree courses respectively in the
field of computer applications with the duration of three years. The students of BCA,
however, have an opportunity to get directly into second year of MCA through a two-year
master course in MCA (LE).

The Department of Hotel Management, since its inception is striving to impart quality
education to the budding hoteliers. The department regularly organises seminars,
workshops and training for its students. The Institute has signed an MOU each with
Club Nirvana and Hotel Regenta Klassik to provide practical training and better
placement prospects to the students.
