Algy Burton
Algy is a war hero who received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
He traveled to locations as far flung as Nova Scotia and Japan during his time in the armed
forces, though his favorite place to visit is San Francisco. Algy earned multiple degrees in
management and then worked for many years at the VA Hospital. After retiring, he
founded the Sunny Skies Charitable Organization, which last year donated 100 turkeys to
needy families and sponsored a trip to the Cleveland Zoo for 50 children. Algy also writes
poetry, practices bartending, and works out at Normandy's state-of-the-art Fitness Center.
Algy came to view a suite at Normandy Towers over two years ago and it was love at first
sight. He appreciates our peace and quiet and, especially, our gorgeous lake views. Thank
you, Algy, for your service to our country and for being a part of our Normandy family!

Tips for Better LivingSPICE UP YOUR LIFE! (adapted from www.thekitchn.com)
If your spice drawer is a jumble of jars from who-knows-when, then it's time to take
stock of what you have and what to keep. Spices don't last forever, so it's worth
inventorying those you have on hand to make sure you use them while they're most
flavorful. Ground spices are generally fine for 3-4 years, while dried, leafy herbs may
only last for a year or so. When in doubt, uses your senses! Spices should have a
strong smell, potent taste, and rich color. A lack of any of these means that they're
past their prime. Spices last longer when they're stored in airtight containers, away
from heat and light. So, treat them right and they'll spice up your life!
