Dear Cattlemen and Friends, We are pleased to welcome you to our 1st annual bull sale. We bought our 1st Registered Angus Heifer in 1991, and have continued to build our Angus herd. As of 2013 we have been just straight Registered Angus Cattle for we dispersed of all our grade cattle. In 2001 we won Angus Bull and Supreme Bull at the Watertown Winter Farm Show with our Gimbels Western Stock 902. Then in 2002 we won Angus Bull and Supreme Bull again with his full brother Gimbels Western Stock 002. We still use him today, for we AI cows to him. We also have a son out of him that we use in our herd. Besides the fact that we have daughters out of 002. This year we have decided to do a bull sale instead of private treaty. We only select our top bulls. They must have a good disposition, which is a must in our program. We like to be able to walk into the pasture amongst them. We even take our grandchildren/nieces into the pasture with us. The shots we use in our program are Vision 7 Somnus at birth and 4 weeks old, Vista Once SQ at 4 weeks old and a booster at weaning. We also pour with Dectomax at weaning and again in January with Agrimectin. The calves were weaned September 12, 2014. Before weaning we creep feed a month, so when calves are weaned they know how to eat. Bulls are available to be seen before the sale by calling us. Dear Cattlemen,First of all, we want to take this opportunity to welcome you all to our First Annual Production Sale and thank you for your interest in our program. Although this is our first year hosting a bull sale, we are by no means new to the cattle industry. Homestake Ranch began raising Simmental cattle in the early 1970’s and added Red Angus genetics in 1998. We have been selling bulls at the Black Hills Stock Show, Sioux Empire Farm Show, Watertown Winter Farm Show, and Philip Bull Days since 2009 and decided that 2015 is the year to offer a select group of our yearling bulls and heifers in a pro-duction sale format. We are pleased to also add an offering of Angus bulls from Gimbel Family Cattle.2015 has been an exciting year to be in the cattle industry. A mild summer and record high feeder calf markets have given producers the opportunity to evaluate their herds and make adjustments in numbers and genetics. Our cattle are bred with the commercial cattleman in mind. We focus on performance and maternal genetics as we know the importance of produc-ing muscle, eye appeal, and fleshiness on top of sound feet and legs. The calves were all raised at their mother’s side on native grass with no creep. They were weaned October 1st and have been fed up to a 52 mCal mixed ration of corn silage, alfalfa, prairie hay, distillers grain and protein pellets ta-pered off by sale day. This ration allows them to show their growth potential without becoming overly conditioned. You are welcome to come to the ranch to view the cattle at any time. Their mothers will be up in the calving yards if you want to see the dams too. Bulls will be semen tested by sale date.
