City homesThere are 2 basic types of houses in China – houses in the city and houses in the country. Many Chinese people live in large cities. People who live in China’s cities live in houses or apartments. Houses in the cities are like North American houses, although the apartments in China are very different from those in North America. Families that live in apartments in China usually share kitchens and bathrooms.

Country homesAnother basic type of house is a house in the country. Most Chinese people live in the country or small villages. Houses in Chinese villages are usually made of mud or clay, but sometimes they are made with stone bricks. Many Chinese homes are small- they usually have 2-3 rooms! Why do you think that houses are like this in China?
