Homeowners with low income may be eligible for financial assistance to repair or restore their home to a minimum level of health and safety. Eligible homeowners You may be eligible for assistance if the following applies to you: the home you are making an application for is: in need of major repair your primary residence located in Manitoba outside of First Nations communities at least five years old assessed at a value no higher than the current program limit your total gross household income is at or below the income limit set by Manitoba Housing for your community Contact Manitoba Housing for more information about home value limits and gross household income limits set for your community, and other requirements to qualify for this program. Eligible repairs Homeowners may be eligible for assistance to make repairs that bring a property up to a minimum level of health and safety. Repairs must relate to at least one of the following: structural plumbing fire safety electrical heating A program officer may visit your home to determine what repairs are needed. Available assistance Up to $20,000 for eligible repairs may be available to qualified homeowners. If your home is located in a northern or remote community, up to $23,000 may be available to qualified homeowners. Important notes All repairs must be completed within six months of approval. You will be responsible for any repair costs that exceed the financial assistance available under the Homeowner Renovation Assistance Program. The financial assistance doesn’t have to be paid back unless you sell, rent or transfer title of your home within five years of completing the repairs. Work done before you receive program approval is not eligible for financial assistance.
