Ithenusedthatrulertotransferthecrosshairontothelowerasin23.(Obviously,theholewasnotalreadydrilledatthispoint.)Ithencenterpuncheditwithanoldawlandusedthatmarktodrillmyfirsthole,witha"P"drillbit(0.323"diameter)straightthroughbothsidesofthereceiver,usingadrillpress.

Theotherholesarealldrilledstraightthroughbothsides.Thetriggerpinholeat.187"(Iuseda3/16"bit)andthehammerpinholeat.161"(#20bit).Interestinglytherearmostholedoesn'tseemtoactuallybeusedforanything.Isuspectitmightbeaholdoverfromtheopenboltguns,butIamnotsure.Inanycase,Idrilleditthoughat.152"(#24bit).

Yourholeswillprobablyhavesomeburs,socleanthemupwithafile.Ialsoappliedsomelightoiltotheareawhiledrillingallholes.That'sprobablynotreallynecessary,butthebitsIhaveareabitcrap,soIwasalittlenervouswiththem.

YouwillnoticethatthestateddimensionsanddrillbitsIactuallyusedaresometimesoffbyacoupleofthousandths.Iwasexpectingtomaybehavetoopentheholesupahair,butitdidn'tseemtomatteranywhereexceptforthesmalldiameterofthesafetyhole.

Forsomereason,onmyexamplethetriggerwouldnottravelfarenoughforwardtoensurereliablereleaseoftherearsearonthehammer.Thiswasaneasyfix.Asmallamountofmaterialwasfiledoffthefrontoftheslotinwhichthetriggertravels,asindicatedin51,untiltherearsearwouldreleaseandthehammerwouldfalltorestonthefrontsear.

Thereasonmaterialwasremovedhereandnotonthesearis:iftherearsearwasmodifieditwouldbepossibletoaccidentallycreateacontrollableautofiringgun.RemovingmaterialwhereIdid,thisisnotapossibility.DONOMODIFYTHESEARSONTHEHAMMER,ORTHESEARPLATE(Indicatedin52)IFYOUDONOTWANTA$250,000FINEAND10YEARSINFULLFEDERALBUTTRAPEPRISONFORMAKINGANUNREGISTEREDFULLRETARDMAC11.

Also:thesafetywouldnotseatfullyormoveinitsfullarcbecauseofmybubblegum.Thiswassimplyfiledflatasin53untilthegroveonthesafetywouldinteractwiththatpapercliplookingspring.Ifyourweldwasbetterthiswouldprobablynotbenecessary.
