TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) was established as a department in Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and evolved into a subsidiary in 1993. It is a non-profit centre for electricity and environmental research. In 1997, TNBR received the status of R&D company from MIDA and became eligible for many government incentives. Today, TNBR is focused on conducting R&D that adds value and is aligned to TNB corporate needs as well as national aspirations.
In April 2012, TNBR established its wholly owned subsidiary TNBR Quality Assurance and Testing Services (TNBR QATS) with the mission to leverage on the laboratory and technical services business

Strongly supported by more than 30 Quality Assurance Inspectors (QAI) who are equipped with extensive experience in conducting inspections and audits in Malaysia and abroad.

RANGE OF SERVICES
We has been performing product inspection, product certification and quality system audits on TNB suppliers for over a decade. The team is well-equipped to conduct up to 20 inspections per day. Our Quality Assurance Inspectors (QAI) are required to pass the International Register of Certificated Auditors’ (IRCA) ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Course. The Unit also has QAIs who possess the Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) from American Society for Quality (ASQ).
In addition, the team is regularly trained by trainers from reputable laboratories such as the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) in India and the Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano (CESI) in Italy.
We have undertaken several international audit assignments on various products and multiple sites such as Siemens (Germany,UK), ABB (Sweeden, Finland, India, Germany), Areva (Brazil, France, UK), Toshiba (Japan), NHGK (Japan), and NARI (China)
We have successfully completed over 250 cases, covering both electrical and mechanical failures. We conduct professional training and provide consultancy to local authorization bodies such as Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, etc.
