1600-1900’s Early Home Style Board Name: __________________________ Period ______ “Homes Today & Tomorrow” Ch 5 & 6 The home style you will research is: (Circle or Highlight) 1600-1780: Southern, Dutch, Spanish, French, Georgian, New England, German, Cape Cod, Saltbox, Garrison, Classical Revival 1780-1860: Federal, Adam, Greek, Octagon 1840-1900: Italianate, Gothic, Stick, Eastlake, Shingle, Romanesque, Chateau, Mission, Tudor, Pueblo, Foursquare, Queen Anne, Second Empire 1905-1930: Prairie, Craftsman, Bungalow, International 1945-1980’s: Ranch, Split-Level, A-Frame, Shed, Geodesic Dome 1965-Present: Mountain, Log, Mediterranean Objective: Create a 14” x 22” picture board of YOUR assigned early home style. Content: Include the following information about your housing style on one side of your poster: 1. An illustration or picture of the exterior, with a minimum of 4 style characteristics labeled. Type the labels on the computer to glue to the picture. With a ruler draw a line from the label to the house part. ___ 3 2. A close up photo of a typical exterior characteristic of the house with a typed description explaining the feature. ___ 3 3. An interior picture of the house with a typical interior characteristic of the house with a typed description that explains the feature. ___ 3 4. A picture of a typical chair found in the house of this style. Label chair with correct name and description. ___ 3 5. A bulleted list of 6-8 characteristics of the house style. ___ 3 Presentation: Neatness is critical to create an appealing presentation. 1. Neatly & evenly trim pictures so the corners are at ninety degree. Use a cutting board or a triangle to draw cutting lines if there are not clear ninety-degree lines to cut on. ___ 2 2. Neatly enhance picture & label by mounting to neutral (black, grey, tan, etc.) colored construction paper. Trim construction paper evenly, 1/8” - 3/8” border around the photo. ___ 2 3. Neatly arrange photos & labels in a visually appealing and professional manner on front of poster board. Neatly & securely glue in place. ___ 2 4. Labels: Spelling correct.
