MISSION
To recruit strong adult leaders and to develop
solid relationships with chartered organizations
in urban and rural communities nationwide to
ensure that culturally diverse youth have the op-
portunity to join the Scouting program which
constitutes approximately 25 percent of the total
U.S. population. Some rural communities are
stable and growing, whereas others are charac-

ABOUT SCOUTREACH SCOUTING PROGRAMS
Cub Scouts Cub Scouts is a year-round family &
home-centered program designed for
1st grade – 5th grade boys
(or 7- 10 years old) The boys
participate in a program
with adult partners
emphasizing shared
leadership, learning about
the community, and family
understanding; citizenship, training,
and personal fitness.
Boy Scouts
Boy Scouts is a year-round program that
develops ethical decision-making skills for young
men ages 11 to 18. Activities emphasize responsi-
ble citizenship, character development, and self-
reliance through participation in a wide range of
outdoor activities.
Venturing:
Venturing is a year round program for young
adults, men and women, between the ages of 14
(having completed the eighth grade) and 20. Its
purpose is to provide positive experiences to help
youth mature and to prepare them to become re-
sponsible adults.
NATIONAL RECOGNITIONS
Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award
This national award recognizes outstanding
service by an adult individual or
organization in the development of
Scouting for rural or low-income urban
youth.
Scouting—Vale la Pena Service Award
Recognizes Scouting volunteers,
community leaders, or corporations
that have had a positive impact in
Hispanic American/Latino communities.
The Asian American Spirit of Scouting
Service Award Recognizes Scouting volun-
teers, community leaders, or corporations that
have had a positive impact Asian American ur-
ban and rural communities.
The North Florida Council ScoutReach
Division gives special leadership and emphasis
to urban and rural Scouting programs.
ScoutReach is the BSA’s commitment to
providing all young people to have an oppor-
tunity to join Scouting, regardless of their cir-
cumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic
background.
