Terrific Kids

Strength Through Knowledge

Our School Vision To empower our students to be creative, positive and independent people, who strive for academic

It is indeed a pleasure to have such a kind, motivated and hardworking student in the classroom. His attitude towards his education is admirable and all tasks are met with enthusiasm. His improvement academically since coming to Queens Park has been helped by his determination to learn. This student’s behaviour towards staff and his peers is impeccable. An attribute that sets this student apart is his empathy and kindness to others. What an excellent role model for other students!!! Congratulations to a worthy recipient and ‘Terrific Kid’ Qwinton Pickett. Ms Saini Room 4

The recipient of the Junior Terrific Kid Award started at Queens Park Primary after the beginning of the 2019 school year. When he started at our school, friendship groups had already been formed and he struggled a little to find his place in the group. This along with the fact that he had left a very large group of loving family members behind in Sydney, must have made him feel very isolated and alone. Unfortunately, he went through a very tough time of trying to fit in and tried to cope by making some very unacceptable choices. After spending some time in Mrs Loader’s office, he realized that he was the one that needed to change his behaviour and attitude towards his peers in order to be accepted. To his credit he did make those changes and not only did he make friends, but also became a very helpful member of the class. He can often be seen helping those students less capable than himself. It is also wonderful to watch him use PATHS Strategies in situations that would previously upset him but now calms himself down and will use a positive resolution to a problem. Well done and Congratulations, J’sia Tautua’a you have truly become a Terrific Kid and are well deserving of this award! Mrs Bottega Pre-Primary

Vaccination incursion

On Monday 9th December at 10am we went to the undercover area we

learned about vaccination the presenters were Monika and Sandra they presented a puppet sow it was about vaccination when you’re sick get an Immunisation foundation or before you get sick. First we went to the undercover area and Room 1 and Room 14 visited they gave us information for children about the importance of immunisation to prevent serious illness and disease. The puppet show started and the characters were Thomas, Ruby and Dr Vacs. Thom as was so scared of needles but Ruby called Dr Vacs and then Dr Vacs explained Thomas for 1 hour or half an hour then it was finished and then Thomas knew everything about Vaccination he wasn’t scared anymore and he was 0% scared. So we got some goody bags there were like 30 goody bags and inside the goody bag there were book marks, sticker, book, information for little babies and colouring sheets. My favourite part was when everyone got the goody bags. By Vinayak G 11/12/2019

At the end of the puppet show Thomas was not even a little bit scared of getting a needle again and ruby and Thomas weren’t scared at all and also at the end we got a bag with lots of information about a Vaccination. I really enjoyed the puppet show.

Vaccination incursion

Yesterday Monday the 19th of December room1 and room 14 watched a

puppet show in the undercover area. The show was about vaccinations and why they are important to prevent serious illnesses Monica and Sandra from the Immunisation Foundation of Australia controlled the puppets Ruby, Thomas and Mr Vac. During the show they told us about not spreading germs a washing your hands after you do something because you might have germs on you and you might get other people sick. After the show we said goodbye and they gave the class goody bags and then we went back to class. At the end of the day our teacher showed us what was in the goody bag. They gave us a note, book, bookmark , some more notes then we went to make our own puppet to keep and then we put our puppets in our bags and went home. My favourite part was when we got to make our own puppets and got to have the goody bags.

Our School Vision To empower our students to be creative, positive and independent people, who strive for academic

We all know the saying that is takes a village to raise a child, and in the same vein, I think it takes a community to run a school. On behalf of Queens Park Primary School, I would like to thank our local community groups that have supported our students and families throughout the year: Manna Inc, in partnership with Food Bank, has provided us with weekly deliveries of fruit, sandwich supplies, muffins, Milo, UHT milk, breakfast cereals and other food items. Because of this, we always have healthy food available for hungry, growing students when they need it! Manna Inc has also assisted individual families with food hampers in times of difficulty. Last week, Christmas arrived early in the office as we had a huge delivery of grocery hampers from Givlife Inc! It must have been a mammoth effort to source the donated goods and then package them up into hampers for us. They will be a great help to many families in our school community and we so appreciate the generosity shown by Givlife Inc. Nations Church has given the school some beautiful grocery hampers as well, filled with quality festive season treats for our families to enjoy. In closing, I would like to thank the Lynwood Cannington YouthCARE Council for contributing a book voucher to next week ’s graduation ceremony. One inspiring Year 6 student will be the worthy recipient of this award… wait and see who it is!
