Authorities seek identity of womankilled in Pompano crash

Authorities are searching national fingerprint databases to

determine the identity of a woman killed Wednesday after

being struck by an SUV as she stepped off a bus in

Pompano Beach.

"The victim didn't have any ID," Broward Sheriff's spokeswoman Gina Carter said. "They ran

her fingerprints and didn't get a local hit, and are running them through national and

Homeland Security databases to see if we can get a hit and see who she was."

The woman got off a Broward County bus that had been heading south on Hammondville

Road around 5:25 a.m., according to BSO. She walked behind the bus and continued east

across North Powerline Road. She was struck by a Toyota RAV4 driven by Dennis Craig

Klein, 62, of Margate, who was headed south, BSO said.

The woman died at the intersection, Carter said; Klein stayed at the scene. Traffic was blocked

for about four hours.
