(Session 2020-21) Home Learning Plan (November17- 20, 2020) Classes V Dear Parent Greetings! The weekly Time Table will be shared separately along with Meeting Ids and Passwords. Please refer to Event Planner for Holidays and Activities planned for the month. Discipline: Students are expected to join on time for attendance. Any student joining after 5 or more minutes will be marked absent. It is compulsory to mark attendance in all three classes separately. Students must attend classes in school uniform/white shirt and keep their videos on throughout the class. Eating during the class and lying on the bed is strictly NOT allowed. In case of indiscipline, the teacher can block the student from entering the class. Students need to be regular with their written work. The written work will be submitted as and when assigned by the subject teacher in Google Classroom. Students must go through the links and read the lessons thoroughly for better understanding of the concepts. English

    Ans. Nasruddin‘s friends challenged him because he said that the cold weather did not

    bother him. He also said that he could stay, if necessary, all night without any heat.

    b. What were the terms of the bet?

    Ans. The terms of the bet were that if Hoja stood all night in the village square without

    warming himself by any outside means, each of his friends would treat him to a lavish meal.

    c. What did Nasruddin decide to do?

    Ans. Nasruddin decided to teach them a lesson.

    a. Why did Nasruddin’s friends decide that he was unsuccessful? What was Hoja’s

    response?

    Ans. Nasruddin‘s friends decided that he was unsuccessful because they believed that as

    there was a candle burning in a window some distance away, the sight of the candle kept him

    warm and sane, and that‘s how he managed to stay out until daybreak. Hoja did not get

    angry after hearing that he lost the bet. He understood that his friends were trying to cheat

    him so he kept quiet and decided to teach them a lesson by inviting them for a dinner at his

    house.

    b. What did Hoja do to teach them a lesson?

    Ans. Hoja called his friends to his home, for dinner. Then he kept them waiting as he put a

    large pot on the small flame. When his friends became impatient, he explained that when the

    flame of the candle behind a window, three hundred yards away could warm a person then a

    small flame could also cook the food in the large pot which was only three inches away.

    d) Protection of soil from erosion by wind, water or human activity is called soil

    conservation.

    Afforestation --We can protect soil by planting more trees so that roots and plants can hold soil together and the soil does not get eroded.

    Cover crops –By planting cover crops between harvesting of one crop and plantation of the next so that land does not remain barren or bare.

    Terrace Farming – It is done in hilly areas by cutting slopes into steps to slow down the flow of water and soil removed from one step gets deposited in next

    step to prevent soil erosion.
