In the early 20th century, most people still consumed music by watching performances in music halls, while the middle class and upper class people who

could afford music lessons would buy sheet music to perform at home.

By World War 2, however, radio had become popular. Most households had one, creating a sense of community as families huddled around to listen to popular

music playing alongside news broadcasts and alerts about the war. Artists were encouraged to produce uplifting music to support the troops and keep public morale up. Record players became more affordable around this time as well,

meaning people had more access to music at home. Going to the cinema was also popular, and just like now, film soundtracks frequently became hits.

‘Run, rabbit, run’

Bud Flanagan (1896 - 1968) and Chesney Allen (1893 - 1982) became famous in the

1930s as part of the Crazy Gang - a group of popular entertainers based on three double-

acts.

During the War they released a number of popular songs. These included 'Underneath the

arches', 'We're gonna hang out the washing on the Siegfried Line'...and probably best-known

of all, 'Run, rabbit, run'.

This up-tempo electropop track finds The Weeknd recounting how the one he loves lights up his life.

The singer is not at peace unless he is in the company of the one he loves!

The song was originally teased in a trailer on German TV for a Mercedes-Benz EQC electric SUV advert. The full-

length version of the commercial premiered a few days later on November 29, 2019, alongside the single. The

Weeknd plays a central role in the commercial, driving around in his Mercedes and performing the track

Possible answers:

Voice, piano, flute, trumpet and Cymbals

Voice is the same

In 'Run rabbit run' the dynamics don't change, it is mezzo forte throughout the clip. In 'Blinding lights' there is a crescendo at the beginning of the song.

Synthesiser keyboard, voice and Drums

The crescendo adds an exciting build up to the start of the song in 'Blinding lights'

The tempo is quite quick in 'Blinding lights' and the tempo in 'run rabbit run' is quite steady. I think they are different because modern songs are fast paced and more up beat than older songs.

The rhythms are different in each song as there is a continuous upbeat rhythm throughout 'Blinding lights' and there is a continuous steady rhythm throughout 'run rabbit run rabbit run'

I like the chorus in 'run rabbit run rabbit run' because it is very memorable. They are both quite memorable choruses(This could be said for both or a reason why they don't like it)
