PARISH EVENTS IN OUR PARISH & ELSEWHERE
Condolences Patricia Gideon, passed away on April 9th. As a parish we share the pain of the loss of Patricia with her family. May God grant eternal happiness to Patricia and comfort to her family. Easter Lilies Easter Lily order forms are on table if you’d like to purchase an East-er Lily for a loved one. Lilies are $12 each. Stations of the Cross Stations of the Cross will be at 11:30 am on Friday at St. Mary. Sta-tions of the Cross will be at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays at Holy Rosary. Easter Vigil Please notice that Mass time for Easter Vigil at St. Mary this year is 9:00 pm because Easter this year is later than usual. The Vigil cannot start before it gets dark according to the liturgical rules. Holy Week We are entering the most solemn time, the climax of the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, the Holy Week, the celebration of the Paschal Mystery, the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ. The Church invites us to enter the mystery of our salvation. Christ crucified is at the center of this mystery. As his disciples, Jesus calls us to follow him in the journey of the cross to the resurrection. Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem celebrated on Palm Sunday is the fitting introduction to the Paschal Mystery. Jesus went to the cross not as a mere human, but as a God man, as a king going to his throne. At the same time he was the sacrificial lamb of God who laid down his life for the salvation of all humanity. Holy Thursday is the cele-bration of the Last Supper. Jesus offered us his body and blood which were to be sacrificed on the cross, as our nourishment for eternal life. In the act of washing his disciples' feet, Jesus showed us another as-pect of the Eucharist, service as a necessary expression of love. The solemn veneration of the Cross on Good Friday shows us the glory of the cross. Jesus gave suffering and death a new meaning of hope and love. Ultimately, the celebration of Easter sums up the true meaning of life. God made our body not to be destroyed in corruption, but to be raised up in the glory of the resurrection. Everyone is invited to celebrate the Holy Week with joy, love, and meditation. The liturgies of the Church in this time are the great vehicles that help us entering the Paschal Mystery, and opening our hearts to God's grace and love.

Holy Land Second Collection Friday, April 19th, we will take up the annual collection to support Christians in the Holy Land. Our contributions assist the Franciscan friars and others in housing and feeding the poor, providing religious formation and educa-tion, maintaining shrines and parishes, and conducting pastoral ministry in the land where our Lord walked. As a pontifical collection requested by the Holy Father, the annual Good Friday Collection offers a direct link for all of us to help maintain a Christian presence in the Holy Land.
