Here are just a few examples of the automaticfunctions you will never need to perform againmanually once your Luxom system is installed:

� After dark, your exterior light and garage lightwill switch on automatically as you open yourgarage door.

� As you walk into the bathroom, the lights willswitch on, the heating will turn up 2 degreesand the extractor fan will start up after a shortdelay.

� When you leave your home, the heating willautomatically be turned down to the economytemperature setting.

Programming time settings into your Luxom sys-tem is easy and designed for your convenience,as the following illustrated by the following typicalexamples:

� If your children leave their rooms withoutswitching off the lights, the system will turnthem on automatically after a preset time.

� Your curtains can be opened and closed at yourchosen times of morning and evening - andyou can even combine the times you set withchanges in daylight levels.

� You can program the central heating to beturned up to daytime comfort level each morn-ing at the time you specify, which you can setseparately for weekdays and the weekend.

Traditional systems only do part of the job, leavingyou to do several tasks manually before you leaveyour home, such as turning down the heating,switching off lights, checking that various house-hold appliances are turned off, etc. With the Luxomsystem, a simple press on one function key isall it takes to perform all these operations auto-matically and you can go out without having toworry. Take another example: last thing at nightor first thing in the morning, you could use theswitch beside your bed to set your home to Nightor Day mode.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE, as the old proverb says, and LUXOM ap-plies this maxim to everyday life. LUXOM systems detect, signal and resolve po-tential problems automatically, and can be fully integrated into your fire detec-tion and burglar alarm system.

Security has many aspects,not the least of which are fire,intrusion, technical failure andaccident prevention.Sincemost accidents occur in thehome, LUXOM Home Automa-tion has integrated severalautomatic control functionsinto its systems that areunique in their field.

To reduce the risk of THEFT, the first and oftenmost effective step is to scare burglars away. TheLUXOM system is equipped with a series of inte-grated functions to achieve this by working in har-mony with your normal security system. If an alarmis triggered, the LUXOM system will switch in allthe lights in your home and flash your exterior lightsto attract the attention of neighbours and passers-by. It can also be set to open curtains or blindsautomatically.

While you enjoy your well-earned NOCTURNALREST, your home can be set to Night mode. Withjust one press of a key, you can cut off the powerto electrical sockets in your garden and kitchen.The system even has a facility for a gentle, low-level light night in case one of the family wants toget up and move around without disturbing otherfamily members.

When your SMOKE ALARM is set off, the LUXOMsystem automatically alerts the fire brigade, turnson all the lights and cuts off all power to electricalsockets, ventilation and heating systems. Theseoperations are also performed automatically whenyou push a panic button or in specific situations.

PREVENTATIVE control functions integrated intothe system to avoid problems before they occurinclude the following examples:

� As you leave your home, power to electricalsockets can be cut off automatically to ensurethat household appliances cannot short circuitor overheat while you are away.

� Cloakroom, cupboard or cellar lights can beswitched on automatically as you open the door.

� Sun blinds can be closed automatically whenthe wind starts to blow too strongly, even ifthe sun is still shining brightly.

LUXOM home automation ensures energy efficiency, sometimes known as ra-tional energy use (REU), so that energy is used only where and when necessary,in the most efficient quantity, yet without compromising your living comfort.

A series of integrated func-tions automatically optimiseyour living comfort without in-creasing your energy costs.However, the LUXOM systemallows you to override its au-tomatic functions manuallyshould the need arise.

Energy management systems integrated into theLUXOM system bring you greater living com-fort:

� The system prevents specific appliances fromswitching on over two-hour or three-hour pe-riods.

� In winter, the system takes maximum advan-tage of passive solar energy, opening ventsless quickly in stronger daylight conditions toensure that your central heating maintains acomfortable temperature while using less en-ergy.

� The heating is maintained at your preset com-fort temperature only while you are at home.As soon as you leave the house, the systemautomatically switches your heating to standbyor economy temperature.

REU heating examples

� When the movement sensor in your bathroomdetects no further movement (after a presettime delay), the system will automatically re-duce the bathroom temperature.

� When you open your bedroom window in themorning, the heating will automatically be shutdown and set to frost protection mode.

REU lighting examples

� Lights in selected areas can be switched offautomatically after more than 60 minutes: e.g.garage, cellar, loft, hall, stairwell, etc.

� Exterior lights cannot be switched on below apreset light intensity.

� Each morning, all the lights in your home canbe switched off automatically in areas wheredaylight levels reach preset comfort levels: e.g.kitchen, hallway, etc.

The LUXOM system brings a new dimension to thescreening of your favourite DVD. When you pressPlay on your DVD player’s remote control, the sys-tem can automatically create your preferred light-ing scene and close curtains or blinds if necessaryso that you can watch your film under ideal condi-tions.
