On March 25, 1917, seven young women founded Sigma Delta Tau at Cornell University.
The Sigma Delta Tau Kappa Chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was founded on March 6, 1926.
The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation, committed to supporting educational and philanthropic endeavors, was founded in 1963.
The women had faced discrimination by other Greek Fraternities. As a result, they founded a new organization with the ideals of individualism, and personal growth
SDT Kappa Chapter hosts alumni brunch to celebrate 85 years of the Kappa chapter.
