A charming cover with a strip of three of the 1 cent blue Franklin headdefinitive with light concentric circles on each stamp sent from Jerusalem, thenpart of the Dakota Territory (North Dakota), for internal usage within the NorthDakota Territory. Cover left Jerusalem September 18th 1883, arriving September19th with an octagonal receiving mark on reverse. North Dakota did not becomea State until November 2nd 1889, how the West was won! Rare and beautiful.

Outstanding example of the interference of normal communicationsbecause of the world war, this is a registered cover sent from the neutral US(April 21st 1941) to Greece then under siege by the Nazis, the coverinterestingly was sent via the Pacific, presumably to avoid U-Boat attack. BothAmerican censor bands applied, refused entry by the Nazis occupiers & it wassent back finally arriving in New York 1942! Great postal history, loaded withpostmarks front and reverse, full of character.

USA. Interesting illustrated cover with huts (prisoner camp) in perspective,leading to Heart Mountain, Wyoming. This is where many naturalisedJapenese-American citizens were forcibly placed "for their own protection"during WW2. This cover which left Wyoming February 8th 1943, postal historyfrom this internment camp is highly unusual, particularly with illustration.

USA. Clearly inspired by a philatelist who got more than he bargained for in thedeal! Sent from Detroit October 20th 1917, this 10 cent yellow orange Franklinhead was bisected, presumably to give the impression of a 5 cent rate forinternal usage within Michigan! However, this little operation did not worksince the correct rate would have been 1 cent not 5 cents. Consequently thepostmaster doubled the 1 cent normal rate to make a 2 cent penalty and appliedthe postal due mark accordingly! Highly unusual exhibtion item.

An important La Guayra cover originating from Venezuela onthe 12th December 1841 with red oval company strike reading 'Besse & MoreauLa Guayra' on reverse, sent to Bordeaux in France via Pauillac on the 1st May1842 for eventual arrival in Bordeaux the next day. The letter took nearly 6months to be delivered and has its original contents, written in French from aFrench banker in La Guayra. Rare and exhibital La Guayra postal historyseldom seen.

An outstanding cover, a corner illustrated 'grande epoque' /turn of the century style hotel cover, sent from the Gran Hotel in Caracas withmost unusually French Sower stamps applied with one x 5 cents, one x ten centsand two x 25 cents, making the correct 65 cents rate for regisitered letters fromCaracas to New York in equivalent French currency! The registered labelapplied reads Bordeaux a Colon, accompanied by dodecagonal strike of thesame reverse. An exhibition item for the South American and French postalhistorian if not unique certainly very rare.
