Psalm 27 verses 1-‐11
This Psalm easily divides into two parts – verses 1-‐6 speak about Faith and verses 7-‐14 speak of Fear.
Verse 1 begins triumphantly, almost like a trumpet call of faith is sounded. Here are words of confidence and challenge, spoken from the heart of faith. The Lord is Light, Salvation and a Fortress – therefore the man of faith has no cause to fear. Such faith has confidence in God because of deliverance in the past (verse 2) and his faith also has strength for the future (verse 3). These first three verses inform us that faith in God embraces the totality of a man’s life – the past, the present and the future. The Lord God, who had helped in times past, is his strength for today and will be his hope and fortress for tomorrow. God will not fail him in days to come because God has not failed him in times past. The Psalmist says that if we can trust in Almighty God we can be confident that no matter what comes our way God will see us through.
Verses 4-‐6 speak of a deep longing of the heart of the man of faith after God. Here is the constant need of every man – a clear vision of God, one which is constant before us. These are beautiful and powerful words. What words of confidence and assurance the Psalmist speaks of God’s protection in time of trouble. The Psalmist knows that the safest place to be in time of trouble is in the Lord’s embrace. But it is much more than an embrace – he speaks of God actively hiding him from trouble and of putting him on a secure footing when the storms batter him.
Verses 7-‐8 he is so confident of God’s protection that even though his enemies surround him he says that God, not himself, but God will lift his head above it all and knowing this he will lift his voice in praise. How amazing in times of great danger and trouble we can still praise God. Yet when you think of the great hymns that have been written in times of trouble – Rock of Ages, It is well with my soul etc
Verses 9-‐11 are a prayer asking for God to be attentive to his cry for mercy in this time of trouble. Isn’t that what we all want when trouble hits our little boat – we want to know that God hears, that God knows and that God cares? The Psalmist, and we often find ourselves in a similar place, cries for mercy from God. Then in verse 10 he listens to the Word of God which tells him to seek the face of God – which means to pray and he proclaims that this is what he will do and what he does. We should write this verse deep into our hearts and minds this week – turn to God in prayer not as a last resort but in obedience to His word because as verse 11 tells us – God is our helper, He is our salvation and knowing that we know He will neither leave us nor forsake us.
This is another great Psalm for those times when life is tough and trouble assails our hearts and lives. It is a Psalm of great encouragement. A Psalm which lifts the soul and lifts our focus from ourselves up to God. I pray it will be a blessing to you not just today as you read this letter but in the days to come. Amen.
Yours in Christ

Please remember to pray for our general synod as it meets in Armagh this year. Please pray for godly leadership from our House of Bishops and a synod ruled and governed by the Word of God and not the fleeting whims of men and society. Pray especially for the issue of Human Sexuality in the Context of Christian Belief - that the Church of Ireland would remain faithful to the teaching of Scripture and the historical teaching of the Church that marriage in this area of life.

Badminton Club May 2013
The club has continued to flourish with around 45 regularly attending members. The season is now drawing to a close with our own club tournaments.
This season both our senior teams came very close to winning their respective Ulster League Divisions but the last set of matches did not go our way and our ‘A’ team finished 3rd and our ‘B’ team Runners-‐Up. Our Under 15 Boys team also performed well in a tough Division 1, North Down League, winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 3 matches. The one thing that really stuck out in these matches was our boys exemplary behaviour and how they handled themselves, especially our younger boys.
On 20/04/13 we held our annual junior club tournaments and prize giving with the awards being presented as follows:-‐
Saturday 1.30pm Section
All-‐Round Award Heather Sprott
Singles Tournament Winners Sarah Strowager, Paul McAtamney
Doubles Tournament Winners Jason Fraser and Ciaran Dixon
Saturday 3pm Section
All-‐Round Award Joshua Boyd
Singles Tournament Winners Amy Robinson, Paul Nelson
Doubles Tournament Winners (1) Amy Robinson and Victoria Welsh
Doubles Tournament Winners (2) Jordan Maxwell and Sam Robinson

Seed Sunday evenings at 7.30pm @ Holy Trinity
Sunday Evening Educating Disciples, that’s what Seed YF stands for, just in case you didn’t know. Over the past month we have introduced worship before our talks and asked our young people to share with us prayer requests that we can all pray about during the week. We have a lot of fun at YF and over the past few months we have seen God really at work with our young people. We have been talking about how to start and structure devotions; we watched a video a few weeks ago by Bill Hybels. He spoke
about if you value something you will make time for it. If you value your time with God, you will make time to speak to him and have fellowship with others. We have a solid number of YF members who attend and we would encourage you as the congregation to keep praying for the young people who do attend and also don’t attend YF.As leaders we value all the young people at Holy Trinity and I speak to a vast number of young people on Sunday mornings who have never been or even tried it out; I would encourage all young people from 1st year of secondary school to come along, it may even change your life. Glory be to God. If you have any questions on YF please contact me: [email protected] or 07840453723

AMAZING! We have had 12 parents/grandparents and 13 kiddos at quite a few of our sessions on a lovely Thursday morning. We are bursting at the seams and it is wonderful. New people are always welcomed at Parents and Tots and we would love to see you there! We all fit quite cozily into the Henley room at the minute, but any more and we'll need to hop over onto the Courtney Hall. This is where I would like to ask for your help: If you have any rugs/area mats that you would like to donate they would be much appreciated. We would have moved over already but we have so many babies and crawlers that we don't want them to hurt themselves on the wooden floor. If we had some extra padding in there it would be great! Thank you so much, and if you have any questions, or food donations please do not hesitate to talk to Cathy
Wilson, Liz Adair or me on 077 1244 1513.
God Bless!

We are looking for your help and support for this fun fundraiser for the whole family to enjoy. On Saturday 22nd June we are organising a football match with everyone in the church, so if you wish to take part please sign up. The venue is still to be confirmed as we are hoping also to put on a BBQ for everyone. Let’s hope the Lord blesses us all with good weather. We would hope to kick off around 3pm, but again once all the info is confirmed we will let you know ASAP. The main thing at the minute is to find out the number of people looking to take part. The sign-‐up sheet can be found on the outside front table. If you have any questions please see Ryan Moffett or Ashton McDermott.

Holy Trinity Men’s Group
Hi Folks, well as you all know by now the Men’s Fellowship is in a state of hibernation for the moment so if anybody out there wants to take up the running of the group please let me know. I have been asked to keep the groan jokes going so here goes, once again many thanks to the genius of the late great Tommy Cooper Great Groan Jokes This fellow walked into a bar with a chicken under one arm and a crocodile under the other. The barman said, ‘What’ll you have?’ He said: ‘A whisky and soda.’ Then the crocodile spoke up and said: ‘I’ll have a gin and tonic.’ The barman said: ‘That’s amazing. I’ve never seen a crocodile that could talk before.’ He said: ‘He can’t. The chicken’s a ventriloquist.’ .A leopard went to see a psychiatrist. He said: ‘Every time I look at my wife, I see spots before my eyes.’ The psychiatrist said: ‘That’s only natural.’ The leopard said: ‘But, doctor, she’s a zebra.’ A drunk was brought into a police station. He pounded his fist on the counter and said: ‘I want to know why I’ve been arrested.’ The sergeant said: ‘You have been brought in for drinking.’ He said: ‘Oh, that’s all right, then. Let’s get started!’ I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him 50 quid that he couldn’t reach the meat off the top shelf. He said, “No, the steaks are too high.” “Doc I can’t stop singing The Green, Green Grass of Home.” “That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome.” “Is it common?” “It’s not unusual.”
A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. “My dog is cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?” “Well,” said the vet, “let’s have a look at him.” So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then he checks his teeth. Finally, he says, “I’m going to have to put him down.” “What? Because he’s cross-eyed?” “No, because he’s really heavy.” Two blondes walk into a building……….you’d think at least one of them would have seen it. Phone answering machine message -”…If you want to buy marijuana, press the hash key…” I went to a seafood disco last week…and pulled a muscle. Our ice cream man was found lying on the floor of his van covered with hundreds and thousands. Police say that he topped himself. Man goes to the doctor, with a strawberry growing out of his head. Doc says “I’ll give you some cream to put on it.” ….remember keep on smiling
God Bless

Alison Allen, Joan Harvey, Fiona Moody
Vera Saunderson, Libby Todd, Nicky Quigg,
After the 10.30am service every Sunday a number of us will be available to pray with you at the front of the church. Please feel free to bring any situation for prayer. Your prayer requests will, as always, remain confidential, however should you feel that you would prefer to receive prayer in the privacy of the prayer room two of the team will be happy to move into there with you. Additionally the Prayer Team continues to meet Thursdays at 7.30pm-7.45pm to pray through the request slips that have been placed in the box. Please continue to make use of the prayer request box and please feel free to add in a request slip for continued prayer, even if you have already come for prayer in person. As has always been the case the prayer request slips are lifted for one month after which time we ask that you complete a new slip should your situation require continued prayer or we need to be updated.
God Bless, Nicky Quigg
