May is dedicated to Mary known as Marian Month: Mary’s message to the world

♦ Pray the Rosary ♦ Make amends for sins ♦ Become devoted to her Immaculate Heart

Continually Praising God: In both the fir st reading and the Gospel we are told about Christ’s glorious ascension into heaven. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that Christ has been seated at God’s right hand in heaven, above every choir of angels. There might be a temptation to stay at an awed distance from Jesus Christ. However, the tone of today’s read-ings is far from that temptation. The tone is exultant and the message is urgent. We are to be his witnesses, and the Gospel describes the first witnesses this way: “[W]ith great joy . . . they were continually in the temple praising God” (Lk. 24:53). How can we continually praise God? The answer can be found in the second reading, in which Paul prays that God will give us a “Spirit of wisdom and revelation” in order to know Christ clearly (Eph. 1:17). We cannot stand at a distance. We are to be enlightened and empowered.

The Faith Formation Program at our parish is in need of Catechists. We invite you (parents, teachers, college stu-dents….) to consider being God's messenger to spread the Good News and open the children's hearts to the Lord. As person of faith, you can share your own faith experiences.

This can be your love of God, your gratitude for God's many gifts, and your personal friendship with Jesus. You could volunteer as main teacher, assis-tant, office helper, or special events. Classes are open on weekends and weekdays, from Grade 1 through Confirmation.

T he Respect Life Ministry wishes to thank all who contributed to the second collection last week which totaled $6,618. Proceeds help fund our efforts toward supplying informational pamphlets to our parish youth and the pamphlet rack on life issues, contributing to as-sisting crisis pregnancy clinics like Horizon Pregnancy Clinic, Casa Teresa, and more. Also, it funds our out-reach program at the booth we set-up on Friday after-noons at the HB Pier, alerting the public of the human trafficking problem. These are just a few ways our min-istry reaches out.

T he Priests and Parish Staff would like to thank those in our community who have helped over the last year, through donations of time, talent, and treasure, for the redecorating of the Parish Office. Due to all of the various donations, less than $5,000 was required to im-prove our workspace, to transform it into a space that serves our Church so much more effectively and effi-ciently, and will continue do so for many years to come. Thank you!

WATCH ME GROW! Leading up to our Baby Shower

Sunday in Sept., we have adopted a real baby boy whose young teen mom has chosen life for her baby and not abortion! We will follow his monthly development begin-

ning with this, the sixth month:

Eyelids reopen, eyelashes become more refined, and deep wrinkles characteristic of an adult. Brain begins to form. Sites for hearing, smell, sight, speech, walking, and

other senses are now in place. Brain can now control body tem-perature, rhythmic breathing and contractions in the digestive tract.

Lungs have developed air sacs and our baby is making prepara-tions to live on the outside of the

womb. Skin is smoothing out as fat accumulates under the skin. Fine hair emerges on baby’s head and

toenails are fully formed. Baby

draws it’s legs up into the “fetal po-

sition” to make better use of what little room is left

to move about.
