The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph December 30th-31st

Father Ron

… from the Pastor’s Desk :

We are on the verge of another year. Hard to believe that tomorrow will be 2018! It also means that we have another Holy Day to celebrate – Tomorrow! A very special feast day. Last Monday was Christmas, today is the feast of The Holy Family. Tomorrow we celebrate; ‘Mary, The Holy Mother Of God’ - the most ancient of Marian Feasts and one of extreme importance in defining who we are as Roman Catholics. I’ll address this in my upcoming homilies. January 1st is always a Holy Day of obligation, unless it falls on a Monday – which this year it does. Even though you are not ‘obligated ‘to go, I strongly urge you to if you possible can. Our conventionally singling out this day as the beginning of the New Year offers us a twofold opportunity to benefit from its occurrence. First, it is an opportunity to look back on the year just completed, in order to gain faith perspective on what transpired in our lives during that time span, so as to thank God for our good experiences of the past year, and also to recognize any mistakes, and to pray for help in learning from them. Secondly, this day presents an opportunity to look ahead in faith projection with a sense of hope. Not with the wishful pseudo -hope that painful things will not happen to us, but with the assured trust that, even if they do happen, God will be with us to give us strength to keep on journeying through those dark-valley experiences. Here is the Mass schedule: - 12 Mid Night Mass (Starts at the stroke of the New Year) - 10:00am Mass

I pray you will have a Blessed New Year. I pray it be one of gentle surprises and fulfilled

wishes. I pray we all grow closer to God and each other as we

journey together in faith.

For - The best IS yet to come.

May God’s love light your way and lead you into a new year that shines with His Special Joy! HAPPY NEW YEAR HOLY SPIRIT FAMILY!! A special Thank You to all of you who work so hard through various ministries in our parish to create the loving and welcoming atmosphere we have and cherish. Cheers to a fulfilling and uplifting 2018!

Fr. Ron will teach... Heaven, Hell and Purgatory

Thursday, January 4th 6:30PM in the church

The creed says, “I BELIEVE IN LIFE EVERLASTING”

Do you? Here is what people want to believe… 1. There is no hell 2. Everyone will go to heaven 3. We can experience hell on earth 4. Purgatory doesn’t really exist 5. Or it does so everyone will be given a second chance 6. There is no heaven or hell 7. We create our own eternity 8. We are re-absorbed back into the ‘force’ - energy 9. We are re-incarnated-better luck next time 10. This is all there is and I can do whatever I want to

whomever I want and will suffer no consequences… Which of the above does the Catholic Church teach? None. Come to class this Thursday here from 6:30 to 7:30 and find out what we DO believe-and why...
