LENT The Lenten Season begins this week with Ash Wednesday, February 26th. There will be Masses in English at 12:05pm and 6:30pm. There will also be a Mass in Spanish at 7:30pm. RENEWED Our parish spiritual development group will start up again this Tuesday, February 25th at 6:30pm in the rectory meeting room. At present we are looking at video presentations of Biblical scholar, Fr. Donald Senior CP, regarding the landscape of the Bible. We conclude each week with a look at the gospel for the coming Sunday. This program meets for six weeks and goes no later than 8pm. All are welcome. STATIONS OF THE CROSS This devotion is celebrated on the Fridays of Lent at 7:00pm in the lower church. There will NOT be Stations on Good Friday, April 10th. Stations will be coordinated by the following: February 26th St. Rita Sodality March 6th Holy Name Society March 13th March 20th March 16th March 27 April 3rd April 10th No Stations We are still looking for parish organizations to volunteer to help. [Five participants if possible-2 readers, 2 for candles and 1 for the cross] ASH WEDNESDAY COLLECTION ENVELOPES The Archdiocese has scheduled the annual collection for the Catholic Charities on Ash Wednesday.

NO PIZZA It was decided by the parish council to eliminate the pizza/salad light-supper on Ash Wednesday for lack of or limited interest.

This weekend we will have a second collection for the Support of the Church around the World. This week’s second collection will support the Church in those underdeveloped areas of the world where there are insufficient resources for evangelization and formation. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the Church in Africa and in Central and Eastern Europe and three important national Catholic missions: the Military Archdiocese, Home Missions, and the Black and Indian Missions. Your generosity to this collection will help fund the spiritual, educational and humanitarian needs of the Church around the world.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES Classes are held on Sundays as scheduled. Students in K-8 meet at the Parish Center approximately three times per month. High School Confirmation students meet in the Rectory Meeting Rooms about twice per month. All classes are held from 10:15-11:45. Registration is ongoing throughout the year and may be done at the Parish Center when classes are held. Sacrament preparation is included for students of all ages. For further details you may call Mary Crow, the Director of Religious Education, at 978-504-9308. For Spanish, call Ivette Chakar at the Rectory during office hours.

Anointing of the Sick Next Saturday, February 29th, immediately

after the 4:00 PM Mass on the last Saturday of the month we will have the anointing of the sick. Those who want to be anointed should sit in the front pews.

ARCHDIOCESE OF BOSTON - LENTEN REGULATIONS 2020

ABSTINENCE: Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligations of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all. FAST: Catholics over 18 and up to the beginning of their sixtieth year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the days of fasting. On these days, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.

ARQUIDIÓCESIS DE BOSTON REGLAS DE CUARESMA 2020

ABSTINENCIA: Los católicos mayores de 14 años de edad están limitados a las obligaciones de la abstinencia. La abstinencia debe ser observada el Miércoles Ceniza y los viernes de Cuaresma. En días de abstinencia, no se puede comer la carne para nada. AYUNO: Los católicos mayores de 18 años y para arriba, comenzando su sexagésimo año están limitados a la obligación del ayuno. El Miércoles Ceniza y Viernes Santo son los días de ayuno. En esos días solamente se permite una comida completa. Otras dos comidas sin carne, suficientes para mantener la fuerza, se debe seguir de acuerdo a las necesidades de cada uno, pero juntas no deben igualar otra comida completa. El comer entre comidas no se permite, pero los líquidos, incluyendo la leche y los jugos de fruta están permitidos.
