Parish Mass Intentions
Sunday 5/17 People of the Parishes Wednesday 5/20 Liz Berman+ Sunday 5/24 People of the Parishes Our Prayers Go Out
For special graces, by means of our prayers, especially of the Holy Rosary, so that members of terrorist groups and others who seek violence around the world may convert.
For those who are having or just had surgery: especially, Betty Geerts and Paula Phillips.
For the sick, especially: for those with cancers, like Gabrielle, Michael Gregory, and John and Jeanne Wright; also for Eleanor Stisher, Sally, Mary-Alice, Deb, Mildred, and Mary (Fr. Tony’s sister).
For a special intention for Romel.
For an increase in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, especially through our May devotion.
For all of our parishioners, volunteers, and other benefactors, who help to keep the parish and its apostolates running smoothly. Bulletin Notices
Contact Mike Geerts at [email protected] or 205-266-3065 if you have a bulletin notice (including birthdays, anniversaries, or other news of interest to parishioners). Summer Seminarian
Our summer seminarian, Josh Altonji (from Huntsville), will arrive on June 5 and will be with us for approximately eight weeks. Let us prepare to welcome him!

Father Jerabek Vacation/Conference
Father will take a few days of vacation to visit a priest friend and attend a conference in the New York area from May 27 – June 5. During that time the schedule at both parishes will remain unchanged, with Benedictine and Franciscan priests covering the various Masses.
Scholarship Fund Matching Gift Status
The total amount raised thus far in the $15,000.00 matching gift challenge for the St. Barnabas School Scholarship Fund is $6,480.00. Your help is needed! If you would like to donate, please speak with Father Jerabek.
St. Barnabas Parish Yard Sale
Thank you to everyone who supported the yard sale. Many of the leftover items are now in our Clothes Closet to be distributed to the poor.
NEW! Senior Citizens’ Mass & Luncheon
The next Senior Citizens’ gathering at St. Barnabas will be on Thursday, May 21 at 12noon for Mass in the church, followed by lunch and bingo in the school cafeteria. All “seniors” are invited to come enjoy this time together – bring a friend! Our next gathering will be in September.
NEW! Homeschoolers: Regina Caeli Academy
Regina Caeli Academy is currently accepting applications for the 2015-16 academic year for our resource center in Birmingham. Please visit our website at http://www.rcahybrid.org and choose the Apply link to begin your family application. Our program serves PreK-3 – 12th grade students. Students attend university-style classes taught using the Socratic method two days per week and are homeschooled the remaining days. Regina Caeli provides a highly structured environment to support the values of the Catholic faith taught in the home. We use the Mother of Divine Grace classical curriculum. Our mission is family-centered, grounded in the Magisterium, and devoted to excellence in classical education. For more info, please contact Nikki Hand at 470-239-0259.
NEW! Work on the Reading Room
Modifications will soon be made to the front part of the rectory so that it will better accommodate our new Reading Room, due to open in a few months – in time for the new school year. Two front rooms, along with the connecting bathroom, will be modified so as to create a suitable environment with a fun “outer space” theme. The parish office will remain where it currently is. If you would like to volunteer to help children with reading and homework once this Room opens, please contact Mary Kaye Gubenski at (205) 821-6267. If you are willing to help financially, please ask Fr. Jerabek about current needs.
Basketball Court and Parking Area
Coach Murphy has brought to my attention that the basketball court is greatly in need of resurfacing. In addition, there remains the stump from the large rotted-out tree that was recently removed, and the pavement and driveway in that entire area are uneven, making it a dangerous place to walk or play. I am therefore beginning the process of looking for grants that might enable us to resurface the basketball court (including installing a new fence, since the current one is rusted) and creating a new parking area in front it. Please pray for success in this endeavor. — Fr. Jerabek
Women’s Health Expo
The “Catholic Women of the Diocese of Birmingham” Apostolate is excited to announce its first annual Women’s Expo, set for Saturday, May 30 at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Birmingham, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, with an admission fee of $10. For more information, see the website www.bhmcatholicwomen.com, or contact Charlotte Ayo at 205-838-8300 or via email at [email protected].
