Ju n e 26, 2016 THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
DEAR PARISHIONERS and VISITORS:
On Wednesday June 29, the Catholic Church
celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul,
apostles. Pope Paul VI described Peter and Paul as the
first pillars of the universal church. He said that the
supreme witness of their martyrdom suffered in Rome
helped the Church to grow outward from Rome to all
corners of the world: “Peter whom our Lord Jesus Christ
chose as the foundation of His Church and the Bishop of
Rome, and Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles, teacher and
friend of the church in Rome. “
We are wise to ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray
for our strength that we may hold fast to our faith like
Peter at his crucifixion. May we have serene firmness of
faith whatever the environment we are in. And may we
receive the help from Mary, Queen of Apostles, to
accept that sharing our faith requires sacrifice as Paul
showed us.
Fr. Galvon

W e humbly ask You that we may always
prove ourselves a people mindful of Your favor
and glad to do Your will.
Bless our land with honorable endeavor,

Save us from violence, discord and confusion,

Defend our liberties and fashion into one

many nations and tongues.
Endow with Your Spirit of wisdom those

authority of government, that there may be justice

Stewardship Reflection
Today’s Gospel reveals to us the beginning of Jesus’ journey
to Jerusalem. W e will journey with Jesus for many Sundays to
come, and along the way he will teach us about the demands
of discipleship. His instructions may seem harsh and
unreasonable to our ears. His response to legitimate requests
to postpone the journey reminds us that there are always
justifiable excuses to defer the journey or put off the
responsibilities of discipleship. Other important matters
compete for our attention. Some of us must make heart-
wrenching choices, but there is urgency about Jesus’ mission
to bring forth God’s kingdom. His demand is that we proclaim
the Kingdom of God now. Is this our first priority, or do we have
other priorities? www.catholicstewardship.com
