2nd Reading: Colossians 3:1-4 Gospel: John 20:1-9

From the Pastor…

Christ is Risen! Alleluia! I wish a very happy and blessed Easter to all who join us in prayer and worship this weekend at Holy Apostles Church.

We have completed the Lenten season of renewal and now we begin a time of celebration and Easter joy. For Catholic Christians, Easter is not just a day; Easter Sunday and the eight days following it (the “Octave” of Easter) are celebrated by the Church as one continuous Easter day. Also, the Easter Season extends for forty days until the celebration of the Lord’s Ascension into heaven and even beyond that for ten more days until Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles. For that matter, every Sunday of the year recalls and celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus. So Easter is truly a great feast!

There are many people deserving of thanks for having helped our parish to prepare for Easter and celebrate the feast with such beauty and solemnity. Special thanks to Cookie Rodi, Mark Colozzi, John Norigian, Arthur Urbano and Tony Grelle who, along with our many talented singers and instrumentalists, provided such outstanding music for our celebrations. I am also grateful to Elaine Altrui who spent so much time planning and executing our beautiful floral decorations. Special thanks to Msgr. Albert Kenney for celebrating Easter liturgies with us. I also thank Deacon Greg Albanese for assisting us with various devotions and ceremonies during Lent and Holy Week. Thanks to the teens – Michael Stabile, Jared Farley, Domenic Kaffenberger, Michael Patatanes, Caroline Russell, Jackson Harris, Leah Lancellotta, Sara Lancellotta and Rebecca Fyrer who presented the Passion so effectively on Palm Sunday and Good Friday as well as Donna Gorham and MaryAnn Johnson who prepared them so well. Of course, we can always count on our very dedicated parish staff, Peggy Simms, Christine Dooley, Michael Santilli, Cathy Vincent and Meg Shideler who are always there to assure that every detail is attended to. Finally, I extend thanks to our extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, readers, servers, ushers and anyone else who contributed in any way to our Easter Festivities. I know that I speak for all our parishioners in extending heartfelt thanks for all the service that is always so well done! Msgr. Theroux

Stewardship “Thought of the Week”

Very early in the morning after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body with precious oils. The reward of this good and conscientious steward was to be the first to know that Jesus had been raised from the dead! Alleluia!

Time and Talent - We wish to thank all those parishioners who are always so willing to pitch in and lend a helping hand. Their participation contributes to the vibrancy of our community.
