Career Explorer by Nebraska 4-H Career Explorer will help you connect the dots between choices you make every day
and the opportunities you could have in the future. You will begin with a Luck of the
Draw card and from there you will be in control, making ongoing decisions about
your education and future career opportunities. At each stage of the game, you will
be able to enter the workforce, get additional education, or explore training
programs. You will have access to more than 450 careers with up-to-date salary
information and summaries for each!

The PASE/Life Challenge Youth Advisory Board is an event board whose
members are selected by the PASE/Life Challenge Event Coordinators. The board
advises the coordinators on youth issues and serves as a means for youth involved
in PASE and Life Challenge to become active members in the events and to have
an official voice in shaping the experience. Each board member serves a one-year
term with the option to reapply each year.
Who is eligible to serve on the YAB? Any current Nebraska 4-H youth who has
attended PASE or Life Challenge within the previous two years (must be between
14-19 years old & a current Nebraska 4-H member).

Special Garden Project Receive a ‘packet’ of Jazzy Mix Zinnias
(one packet per youth) in March
The Special Garden Project is a way to offer 4-H Clover Kids and 4-H members the chance to grow unusual and fun projects in their gardens. The Special Garden Project is focused on the colorful, Jazzy Mix Zinnia. This cultivar comes in shades of burgundy-red, red, yellow, and orange with cream, red, or yellow tips. The 1-2” blooms are fully-double and semi-double. These zinnias are a great cut flower that can get 20-26” tall. On average it will take about 75-85 days for the plants
to bloom. 4-H’ers enrolled in the Special Garden Project will:
*Receive a “packet” of Jazzy Mix Zinnias (one per youth) *Learn more about:

Public Speaking Contest. The Regional Speech contest will
be May 26. More information will be coming on the county
contests.

Grand Island and learn how you can incorporate
outdoor skills into your 4-H program. In a fun and

NEW!!! Ear Tag Changes Coming
There is new information coming out on tagging livestock
going to State Fair and Ak-Sar-Ben this year. We are still
finding out the information and will let everyone know
about it as soon as we learn it. We will be going back to
hard copy animal ID for county fair this year.
Reminder to pick up your pins
The pins for Holt County Achievement night are
in and you may stop into the office and receive
your certificate and/or pin. We recognized 1, 3,
5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 years in 4-H.
