I’ve always appreciated the quality of Bulova watches, a company first established in 1875. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue. Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.”
Pure and simple, this is one beautiful 14kt solid white gold Tank watch…a 1927 Sapphire & Diamond Case model with a hinged back and engraved “linenfold” dial.
This finely engraved, tonneau-form timepiece is triple-signed for Bulova and measures 30mm end to end and 17mm in width (21mm with original cabochon sapphire crown). This works out to be 1-3/16” long by 5/8” wide, not including the winding crown. It is powered by its original 6AF caliber, fifteen jewel mechanism, fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time.
The sterling silver, matte enamel finished dial is in flawless condition – professionally restored to its correct original status. It features black enamel Arabic numerals, a checkered 60 minute inner track border and original blue steel Spade-style hands. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and embossed “Swiss” at the base of the dial.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition, removed for some photos to better show you the dial. The 14 Karat Solid White Gold wire lug case is in excellent PLUS shape and features wonderful Art Deco embossing and geometric engraving on both the bezel and case sides. The highlight of the bezel are its Four (4) dark blue Sapphire stones – and Two (2) Genuine Diamonds, all clear, original and in excellent shape. The original winding crown is cabochon sapphire and in excellent order as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent condition with absolutely NO wear or engravings, just a fine leaf border. Peeking inside via the secure hinged back case (opens and closes perfectly), I find a higher grade Fontainemelon caliber tonneau shaped mechanism. It is signed Fifteen 15 Jewels – Bulova

Watch Co. [Caliber] 6AF with a SQUARE date stamp denoting a 1927 production date. The inside of the case lid is signed BULOVA QUALITY – 14K – AMERICAN STANDARD, PAT. JUN. 20, 1924 with case number below.
This watch has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 10mm wide matte black calf leather strap that has been modified to securely fit on this solid (wire) lug watch. It will fit a wrist 5-1/4” to 6-3/4” with no problem. So then, who will be sporting this true 1920s Art Deco watch in just a few days time? It really is a beautiful piece.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as “Always in Motion.” Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first (if not the very first) watch companies to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches. Prices continue to rise for the early pieces, thus making them a good investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from Movado, a nice and original smaller size gent’s model that dates to late 1940s. This military style watch has a stainless steel case made by Francois Borgel with rose gold “capped” lugs and a 14kt solid rose gold stepped bezel.
Triple-signed, it measures 37mm lug tip to lug tip and 30mm in width (31.8mm with original rose gold finish, partially recessed crown). This works out to be just under 1-1/2 inches long by 1-3/16 inches wide (without the crown) – a normal men’s size back then but best described as a ¾ size men’s watch by today’s standards, equally suited to a woman’s wrist. It is powered by its original 17 jewel “Movado Factories” signed mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my valued watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, matte enamel finished dial is in very nice condition, showing an even patina of age that gives it nice “vintage” charm. It features a 60 second outer track calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision, original gold metal baton-style hands, raised gold numbers and hour markers and a ‘sweep’ center seconds hand with RED arrow tip. Signed MOVADO below the 12 and SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is excellent condition and clear. The stainless case is in excellent shape (a few small scratches around the case back only), complete with 14kt rose gold “capped” faceted lugs and a stepped, 14kt solid rose gold bezel. Please note that the rose gold hue is a bit subtle – almost a coral gold color. This case

was designed and fabricated by Switzerland’s most regarded case maker – Francois Borgel (est. 1887) – a name that seasoned collectors are familiar with given he was the first to attempt to make a water and dust resistant, hermetic case. It is stamped #4211 between the top lugs. The matching and original rose gold finished winding crown is in excellent order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the stainless back lid is a 10 sided, screw-down design in excellent PLUS shape with no personal engravings, just a finely brushed (satin) finish. Peeking inside I see that there is an Inner Dust Cover Lid, a high-quality detail found on only better quality military timepieces. Removing this I find a Seventeen Jewel movement that is signed Movado Factories – 17 Jewels – Swiss Made. The caliber number 260 is located below the balance wheel. The inside of the outer case lid is fully hallmarked with the Movado trademark (hand holding pocket watch), including FB Key- PATENT + STAINLESS STEEL INAL – MOVADO FACTORIES, SWITZERLAND - FABRICATION SUISSE 274211, 18611 with model reference number as well. The “FB” stands for Francois Borgel and the KEY symbol is for Geneva. . Note also that the inside case lid number (last four digits) matches what’s found between the top lugs, as earlier shown (4211).
This cleaned, oiled & regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer Europa ostrich grain (calf) leather strap. All in all a nice and original, ready to wear timepiece from one of Switzerland’s best – thanks for taking the time to read my description.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
Omega strongly reaffirmed its position as a collector’s brand in 2007 when Antiquorum held its “Omegamania” theme sale in Geneva, Switzerland. The prices realized vastly exceeded pre-auction estimates and set new records for many older models. Yes folks, good vintage Omega watches are only going UP in value.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an automatic wind DE VILLE model from 1968. I had an identical model about a year ago but it was with the “Seamaster” badge –

Page 11: holben/Descriptions/July 9, 2012.docx · Web viewdeBeer Paris hand crafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching color buckle.

otherwise everything else was the same. This timepiece is entirely original (only the band is new) and it is 5X signed for Omega, including on the crystal where a tiny Omega symbol can be found in the very center (visible by loupe only). Another nice aspect of this quick-set calendar model is its mechanism, a 24 Jewel, 565 caliber that is topnotch.
Five times signed for Omega, it measures 40.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37mm with original Omega-signed steel winding crown). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the Omega crown. It has been fully serviced and its original twenty four jewel, self-winding (automatic) mechanism and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, finely brushed enamel finished dial is in pristine shape – guaranteed untouched since it left the factory. Features include a 60 second outer chapter, applied silver and black lacquered hour markers, original steel hands with black lacquer fill, quickset date window at the 3 position and ‘sweep’ silver seconds hand. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC with applied white gold trademark Omega symbol below the 12 and DE VILLE above the 6. It is further signed T SWISS MADE T at the base of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in great condition, perhaps a couple small scratches but unchanged since it left the factory. If you take a magnifying loupe you will see an Omega symbol in the center, not visible with the naked eye. The original Omega Seamaster case is a solid stainless steel example in excellent overall condition with only a few small scratches, very nice.
The original Omega-signed steel winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly. This is a quick-set model that is somewhat unique in that you pull the crown OUT to the second position to advance the day(s). To set the time you pull the crown out to the first position.
Turning the watch over I find that the screw-down back lid is stainless steel and stamped Waterproof. There are a couple of visible scratches from opening/closing but the back is very clean otherwise and without any personal engravings. Inside I find a clean, original rose gold finished mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss [Caliber] 565 – Twenty Four 24 Jewels. The serial number is #27,209,139 – dating the watch to 1968 as per Omega production records. The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and signed ACIER INOXYDABLE -

OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE - 166.029 - SGR.
This watch has been fully serviced so you can be assured that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. The quickset date is operated by pulling the crown out to the second position (the first position sets the time) and then pushing back in, repeating this step for each day you want to advance. It comes fitted on new and high quality 19mm black alligator (grain) calf leather band with stainless steel buckle. My longtime favorite U.S. watch firm is the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific American firm established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by the City of Elgin, Illinois (the factory had a National Street address). It was a strategic location, right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago, and the Elgin factory would become the focal point of the town.
Elgin would offer its first watch for sale in 1867, marking the beginning of fierce competition with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin, as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame. Bartlett and Currier would later join the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield.
I am very pleased to offer for sale an early flagship model from the firm, a men’s Lord Elgin timepiece in 14kt Solid Yellow Gold that dates to 1937. The Lord Elgin series was the very best that Elgin offered and all models featured 21 jewel mechanisms. This is arguably one of the earliest Lord Elgin models in solid gold that I’ve had and it is very impressive in person, a bit larger than most 1930s watches.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm end to end and 25mm in width (27mm with original crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” by 1” without the winding crown. Powering this watch is its original twenty one jewel, Elgin U.S.A. mechanism, fully serviced by my talented watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct original status. It features a black checkered 60 minute outer track border, raised gold Breguet-style numerals, original gold metal Sword hands and a recessed, tonneau shaped (like the case) sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed LORD ELGIN with “Star” below the 12.
The curved, solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear shape. The case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition, a classic elongated “Tank” style that appears even larger than its measurements due to the narrower framing of the bezel sides. The original winding crown is gold-finished and in

excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent to mint shape with absolutely no wear or engravings. It is stamped 14K SOLID GOLD at the top edge. Peeking inside I find a clean Twenty One Jewel mechanism signed ELGIN, USA and 21 JEWELS. The serial number of 36,909,701 dates this watch to mid 1937 (May/June) as per production records. The inside of the case lid is signed CASED AND TIMED BY ELGIN NATIONAL WATCH CO. – KEYSTONE 14K with case reference number below.
This clean and original Lord Elgin has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new and fine quality 16mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather band with gold finished buckle for a handsome match. All in all one of the finest 1930s Elgin watches I’ve had for sale on eBay –a timeless design and pristine shape.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following ladies timepiece from the Gruen firm, a Gruen “Guild” Model 104 that dates to ca 1926. This 14kt White Gold Filled watch is in very fine original condition, complete with a sterling silver, engraved dial and beaded edge cabochon sapphire winding crown.
Triple-signed for Gruen its three-piece, Cushion-form case measures 28mm end to end and 24mm in width (27.2mm with sapphire crown) or 1-1/8 inches long by just under 1 inch in width, not counting the winding crown. Fitted to the watch is a new matte black 12mm wide leather strap, able to fit a wrist 5-1/4 to 6-5/8 inches in size. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, 3 adjustment Gruen Guild mechanism, ensuring its wines and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original sterling silver dial is in great condition, untouched since it left the factory 85 years ago. It features a 60 minute outer track border, black enameled numerals, original blue steel Leaf-style hands and a separate sub-seconds dial

with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ blue steel seconds hand. Note the finely engraved floral design center dial – beautiful. Signed GRUEN below the 12 and embossed “Swiss” at the base of the dial, below the bezel.
The hardened acrylic crystal (a new addition) is in excellent condition with no flaws. The 14 Karat White Gold Filled case (a Gruen “Ultra Quality”) is Cushion in form and in excellent PLUS condition – complete with elaborately engraved bezel and case sides. The original cabochon sapphire winding crown is in excellent order as well, complete with beaded edging (that Gruen cabochon crowns are known for) and winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent condition, tastefully signed “Elizabeth Clark” in the center. Peeking inside I find a clean and high-grade Fifteen Jewel manual wind mechanism that is signed GRUEN GUILD – FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS, THREE 3 ADJ. – SWITZERLAND [Caliber] 179. The inside of the case lid is stamped GRUEN ULTRA QUALITY - 179 with case number as well. Please note that the 179 is the movement caliber (grade) and that the last four digits of the case back are stamped on the center section of the watch, ensuring originality.
This cleaned, oiled, and regulated Gruen Guild Model 104 winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 12mm wide (1/2 inch) matte finish black leather strap that will comfortably fit a wrist 5-1/4 inches to 6-5/8 inches in size. So that’s the scoop on this nice, Roaring 20s Art Deco Gruen watch – ready to be worn and enjoyed by a 21 century woman who is a “Flapper” at heart.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, an entirely ORIGINAL men’s solid stainless steel, European Market model that dates to ca 1961. When I think of mid-century watch designs this is a classic – timelessly elegant and as “in style” today as it was over half a century ago. As noted, this is a European market timepiece, and its original dial is uniquely signed Fab. Suisse below the Longines name in addition to “Swiss Made” at the base of the dial. You will also see that the winding crown is unique, stamped “Longines” with the trademark hourglass below.
Quadruple-signed, this watch measures 43.8mm lug tip to lug tip and 35mm in width (37.3mm with

original Longines-signed stainless crown). This works out to be 1-3/4 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the original crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 23ZS manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, matte enamel finished dial is in MINT condition and without flaw – guaranteed untouched since it left the factory half a century ago. It features a 60 second outer chapter, raised silver hour markers with tritium dots next to each, original silver metal hands with tritium fill and original center ‘sweep seconds hand. Signed LONGINES FAB. SUISSE below the 12 with applied silver trademark winged hourglass and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The domed acrylic crystal in excellent condition with no flaws. The case is a two-piece design that is solid stainless steel and it is in excellent to mint condition, absolutely spotless with elongated lugs.
The matching steel winding crown is signed “LONGINES” with trademark below – something you rarely see (typically a signed Longines crown has just the trademark winged hourglass). It is in excellent to mint condition, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the stainless back lid is in excellent condition – a screw-down design that is solid and secure with no wear or engravings. It is stamped Longines – Waterproof – Antimagnetic – Shock Absorber – Swiss Made. Looking inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Swiss, 17 Jewels - [Grade] 23ZS with serial number #11,648,731. This number corresponds with a 1961 production date. The inside case is finely engine turned and stamped LONGINES FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE - 1320 -6995 2 – ACIER INOXYDABLE.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 18mm black ostrich grain strap by deBeer with matching chrome steel buckle. All in all a fantastic, higher-grade watch from one of Switzerland’s very best…I was tempted to keep this one for myself but I can’t keep them all – my personal favorite from this week.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer

stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00 pm, Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage, self-winding timepiece from the Bulova firm, a men’s 23 Jewel automatic wind model with an “Atomic” inspired dial that dates to 1963. This watch, made completely in the United States, is in excellent, original condition and is very mid-century modern – arguably even “Sputnik” in design.
This triple-signed timepiece measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35mm including the original crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/2” long by just over 1-1/4” wide, not including the winding crown. Its original twenty three jewel mechanism has been fully serviced and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory and with only a couple tiny specks. It features raised gold numerals and hour markers with luminous dots next to each, original gold metal dauphine-style hands with luminous fill and a ‘sweep’ original gold center seconds hand. Note the graphic line design of the dial itself – somewhat similar to the Atomic symbol. Signed BULOVA 23 JEWELS below the 12 and SELFWINDING above the 6.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The Bulova-signed two-piece case is 10kt Rolled Gold Plated and in excellent PLUS condition. I’ve always loved Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded by Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Timing Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Bulova timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold “cocktail” model complete with 4 Genuine Diamonds set into its finely engraved case. This evening watch dates to 1941 and is in excellent condition both inside and out, complete with Bulova-signed winding crown.
Quadruple-signed for Bulova (case, crown, dial and mechanism), it measures 26mm lug tip to lug tip and 14.5mm in width (16mm with Bulova-signed crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1” long by 5/8” wide including the winding crown. With its black cord strap the overall length is 6-3/4 inches. If you need the length shorter (or even longer) I can custom size it for the winner, no charge. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, Swiss made Bulova mechanism that has been fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, the original that has been professionally restored in the recent past. It features raised gold numerals, a 60 minute checkered outer track border and original gold leaf-style hands. Signed BULOVA below the 12.
The gently domed crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece case is a very elegant design with finely pierced and engraved detailing on both the sides and lugs tips. The entire case is 14 Karat Solid White Gold and it is in flawless condition. Highlighting the case are four (4) genuine diamonds, securely set and with a nice sparkle. The original winding crown is in excellent shape, signed “Bulova” and white gold finished. It winds and sets smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the

back lid is in immaculate condition with no flaws. It is stamped BULOVA – 14K at one edge with case number on the opposite side. Inside I find a clean manual wind movement, signed Bulova Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels [Caliber] 5AB, BXW. There are two separate date code stamps, one is for 1940 and the other for 1941, indicating that the watch left the factory in the latter year.
This disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a vintage black cord bracelet strap with matching color clasp that measures 6-3/4 inches in length - easily shortened (or lengthened) before mailing at no charge – just tell me the desired length and I’ll take care of the rest. All in all an excellent late Art Deco “Cocktail” watch from one of the best American watch companies, this one is a little sparkler.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I have always really liked Bulova, an American company of great repute. By 1922, the name Bulova Watch Company would begin to appear on watch dials across the country and the rest, as they say, is history.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, a highly sculpted case model that dates to 1955. This 21 jewel, entirely USA made timepiece is in excellent PLUS condition and is a model that I have only seen a couple times before. I tried to do some research on its name but it is an unknown model (at the My Bulova website) and doesn’t seem to be in any advertisements. My guess is that it was made for only a year or two and in fairly limited runs.
Quadruple-signed, its sculptural case measures 37mm end to end and 21.5mm in width (23.5mm with Bulova-signed original crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not including the Bulova crown. It is powered by a high-grade 21 Jewel, 8ac caliber USA made mechanism (as seen in the Excellency series) that has been fully serviced by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David prior to auction so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in mint condition, professionally restored to its correct, original status. It features raised gold Arabic numerals and “dot” indicators, original Baton-style gold metal hands and a separate seconds dial with

‘sweep’ gold steel seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The rectangular, Tank form case is 10 Karat Yellow Rolled Gold Plated and is in excellent condition with truly distinctive, sculptural lugs and bezel – I think I will let the pictures do the talking here! The matching and original Bulova-signed yellow gold finished winding crown is excellent as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is stamped 10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE – BULOVA, L5 with case number A490490. It is in excellent condition and displays a brushed/satin finish with no wear or personal engravings. A 10k Rolled Gold Plated case is equal to 40 microns of gold – about four to six times what a gold plated watch has today (7 to 10 microns). Inside I find a fully serviced and higher-grade Twenty One Jewel movement signed Bulova Watch Co., [Caliber] 8AC, 21 Jewels, USA – L5. Please note that the “L5” is Bulova’s date code for 1955. The inside case lid is further stamped BULOVA – FIFTH AVE – NEW YORK.
This beautiful, mystery model Bulova has been cleaned, oiled and regulated by a certified Bulova trained watchmaker. As such, it winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 16mm deBeer black ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with matching color buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. What's not to like, a stellar 21 jewel, American made mid century timepiece from one of the BEST (if not most reliable) watch companies of the 20th century…thanks for taking a peek!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of “Girard – Perregaux” came into being.
In 1906 Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces you can buy, making the vintage models a sound investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from Girard Perregaux, a ladies 14kt Solid Yellow Gold vintage dress model that dates to the mid 1950s and is in excellent original condition. This is what’s

described as an “evening” or “cocktail” watch and it comes complete with its original blue Girard Perregaux display box, as shown, for a complete package.
Quadruple-signed for G-P (dial, crown, case & mechanism), it measures 27mm lug tip to lug tip and 15mm in width (16.7mm with original GP-signed winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/8 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide (without crown) and it is fitted on a black cord bracelet that measures a total length of 7 inches (I can size this larger or smaller for the winner at no cost). It is powered by its original and high grade, 17 jewel gold finished manual wind Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, enamel dial is in great condition, untouched since it left the factory 65 or so years ago and with only the tiniest specks of age. It features applied gold arrow tip hour markers and original gold metal Lance-style hands. Signed Girard Perregaux below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The original solid glass crystal is a fancy faceted edge type that adds “sparkle” when it catches the light, in excellent, clear condition. The case is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold (a natural yellow color, not a glaring) and in excellent shape, complete with incised “Flame” lugs. The matching gold finished winding crown is marked GP for Girard-Perregaux and in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order, retaining its original brushed (satin) finish and free of any wear or engravings. It is stamped 14K GOLD at one edge. Inside I find a clean, manual wind yellow gold color mechanism that is signed Girard-Perregaux, Swiss – 17 Seventeen Jewels – Adj 2 Pos, 5109 502 - GXM. The inside case lid is stamped with model number “B1927” and G/P for Girard-Perregaux below this.
This watch has been cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a vintage new old stock black cord band that will fit a wrist up to 7 inches in size and I can easily make it smaller (or larger) at no charge. This watch will ship with its original baby blue hinged display case, marked GP on the outside and “Girard Perregaux – Fine Watches since 1791” on the inside. My favorite United States watch firm has long been the Elgin National Watch Company, a prolific organization established in 1864 on 35 acres of land donated by

the City of Chicago in Elgin, Illinois. It was a strategic location, located right next to the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad, one of the busiest railways into Chicago. By 1867 the first watch was marketed for sale, retailing for $115 (think of that in today’s prices) and Elgin was soon competing head-on with its chief competitor, Waltham, which (ironically) was instrumental in forming Elgin as two of the original organizers were P.S. Bartlett and D.G. Currier of Waltham fame.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Elgin firm, an original, nicely preserved Machine Age stainless cased model that dates to 1933. These early “Veritas” steel models are among my favorite Elgin watches to collect given their timeless design…the stepped case of this example being very Art Deco, perhaps even Streamline Moderne.
Triple-signed, it measures 38mm end to end and 28.5mm in width (30.5mm with original steel crown). In inches this is 1-1/2” long by 1-1/8”wide (without the crown). It is powered by its original, 4/0 size Elgin mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David just last week and it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original, ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in great condition – untouched since it left the factory and with only a touch of aging, it is very nice. Features include a black checkered 60 minute outer track border, raised hour markers, original blue steel Elgin hands and a square seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ original blue steel hand. Signed ELGIN below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is an early “Veritas” stainless steel example in excellent condition, complete with stepped sides. The original steel winding crown is also in excellent order and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent condition, without any personal engravings and retaining its original brushed finish. Inside I find its original Seven 7 Jewel, manual wind mechanism, signed ELGIN, USA with serial number #34,380,104 – dating it to 1933 as per company production records. The inside of the case back lid is signed Cased & Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., VERITAS Metal – Keystone Watch Case Co. with case number 538,316 below.
This original timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated (July, 2012) to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new

and high quality 16mm men’s deBeer Paris black lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching chrome steel buckle for a superb combo, ready to be worn and enjoyed. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of "Omega" for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Omega timepiece, a larger size men's model that dates to ca 1953. This watch is 18kt Solid Rose Gold and in immaculate condition, made entirely in Switzerland and featuring a caliber 266 mechanism, an evolution (along with the 255) of the fabled 30T2 caliber that many collectors believe to be the finest manual wind Omega movement ever made.
This triple-signed timepiece measures a solid 43mm end to end and 36mm in width (37.5mm with rose gold finished winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-3/4 inches long by just over 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the rose gold crown. My talented and trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 266 caliber, 17 jewel rose gold finished mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, butler enamel finish dial is in mint condition - professionally restored to its correct original status and very nicely done. It features a 60 minute outer track border, applied solid rose gold hour markers, original rose gold Leaf-style gold hands and a separate, recessed seconds dial engine-turned background and 'sweep' seconds hand. Signed OMEGA below the 12 with applied rose gold Omega symbol and further signed SWISS MADE at the base, hard to see with the curvature of the crystal.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The three-piece, Omega-signed case is 18 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent PLUS condition - not a flaw on her and complete with nicely curved (curled) lugs. The matching rose gold finished winding crown is unmarked and possibly a later replacement. It is in excellent condition, operating as it should.
Turning the watch over I note that the snap-down 18kt solid rose gold back lid is excellent PLUS condition, free of any personal engravings or wear. Peeking inside I find a rose gold finished, manual wind mechanism that is signed Omega, Swiss - 17 Jewels [Cal.] 266. The serial number is #13,949,396 - dating the watch to 1953 - 1954 as per company production records. The inside of the case lid is finely engine turned and stamped OMEGA WATCH CO. - FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE -18K. 0.750 with the Goddess Minerva gold hallmark

adjacent. The case number is 11,291,346 and the model number is 2685. Please note that Omega mechanism and case serial numbers were never meant to match and this watch and case are 100% original to each other.
This timepiece has been fully serviced just last week, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with ROSE gold finished buckle - a high quality band that's well-suited to this watch. All in all a very desirable watch given its pristine condition, 18kt solid gold case, 30 series mechanism and larger size for the era it was made. The more I write about th is watch the more I’m thinking that I’m crazy to sell it – she’s absolutely stunning.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage original Longines timepiece, a men’s solid stainless steel, automatic wind model that dates to ca 1957. This watch is entirely original right down to its handsome black enameled dial and signed Longines crown – only the watch strap is new.
Quadruple-signed, it measures 42.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (34.5mm with recessed Longines-signed crown). This works out to be 1-11/16 inches long by just under 1-3/8 inches wide, including the near flush winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 19AS caliber self-winding Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – guaranteed to be untouched since it left the factory 55 years ago. You don’t often seen original dials this nice and you see original black color dials even less often.
The dial

features a 60 second inner track border comprised of tiny little “T” shaped markers instead of slash markers with tritium dots (darkened with age) next to each hour marker. Other features include applied silver numerals and faceted our markers (very clean), original silver metal Dauphine-style hands with original fill and a ‘sweep’ original silver steel seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 with applied silver trademark winged hourglass and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The domed acrylic crystal in excellent condition with no flaws, a new old stock replacement. The case is a two-piece design that is solid stainless steel and in excellent condition, perhaps a few light scratches but I have not polished it at all – very nice and original. The matching steel winding crown is signed with the Longines winged hourglass logo and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the stainless back lid is in excellent condition – a screw-down design stamped “Stainless Steel” that is solid and secure with no wear or engravings. Looking inside I find a clean and fully serviced rotor automatic mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss - Seventeen 17 Jewels – Swiss, [Grade] 19AS with serial number #10,352,311. This number corresponds with a ca 1957 production date. The inside case is finely engine turned and stamped LONGINES WITTNAUER WATCH CO. INC. - NEW YORK, GENEVA, MONTREAL – STAR W.C. CO., STAINLESS STEEL [Model] 2309-SW with case number below.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 19mm black lizard (grain) calf leather band with matching stainless steel buckle. All in all a fantastic, higher-grade watch from one of Switzerland’s very best, I think the winner is going to be very happy with this nice and original 1950s automatic.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I’ve always enjoyed collecting vintage Bulova watches, an American company of great repute. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio – with an announcer stating “B – U – L – O – V – A … 8:00 pm, Bulova Watch Time.”
I am pleased to offer for sale a unique and harder to find vintage Bulova timepiece – a men’s “Wrist

Alarm” model that dates to 1957. I have had a couple alarm models before from Bulova but they have been from the 1960s, making this an early find.
This triple-signed watch measures 41.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (35mm with both crowns). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just shy of 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the two Bulova-signed crowns. Its original 17 jewel Bulova Swiss manual wind mechanism has been fully serviced priot to auction to ensure it winds and sets correctly and keeps accurate time.
The 100% original two tone silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – untouched since it left the factory 55 years ago. It features raised silver hour markers and numerals, a 60 second inner track, original silver steel Dauphine-style hands with fill, a blue steel alarm hand with RED arrow tip and ‘sweep’ blue steel center seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 and Wrist Alarm below this. Below the 6 it is stamped SWISS.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The three-piece, solid stainless steel case is in excellent shape as well, complete with beefy, curved lugs. There are two crowns on this watch (unmarked) that are in excellent shape. The top crown winds the watch and sets the time like a conventional crown would do. The bottom crown is used to adjust the alarm hand and you do this by turning it clockwise and the hand will move backwards, which is correct. To “set” the alarm you pull the bottom crown to the out position. This alarm function works great folks and it buzzes nicely!
Turning the watch over I see that the back case is stainless steel and features a separate, snap-down steel ring. It is stamped with case number #705,961 and is in excellent shape. Taking a look inside I find a clean manual wind mechanism signed BULOVA WATCH CO., [CALIBER] 11AERC – 17 SEVENTEEN JEWELS, SWISS – L7. The “L7” is the firm’s date code for 1957 (L = 1950s, M = 1960s, N = 1970s). The inside of the case back is stamped BULOVA - SWISS - L7
This cleaned, oiled and regulated watch winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. This is

an early 11AERC caliber (they made this mechanism until about 1967) and the click is a bit louder than normal. This means that when you wind the watch the winding is more “audible” than most watches but everything is perfectly fine with the mechanism. Indeed, it has been checked out and confirmed by my Bulova-trained watchmaker David who said everything was operating as it should. I have fitted a new 18mm black leather strap on the watch with steel buckle. All in all a very nice, less often seen 1950s alarm model from one of the best American-Swiss watch companies, a watch that will get noticed on your wrist (especially if it goes off!).

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
