forcataloging,archiving,preservinganddisseminatingMastersThesespreparedbyMassArtgraduatestudentsaspartialfulfillmentoftheirrespectiveacademicdepartments

requirementsforamastersdegree.Studentsshouldconsultwiththeiracademic

departmentsformorestringentoradditionalrequirements.

Onceyouracademicdepartmentissatisfiedthatthethesisissuitableforbindingand

archiving,thedepartmentsthesiscoordinatorwillsubmitthesematerialstotheTechnical

ServicesLibrarianforbinding,archivingandcataloging. Binding:ThethesispaperoriginalswillbesenttotheLibrarysbinderycontractor

bundledwithotherLibrarymaterialstobeboundonceasemester.Bindingcosts

forthesetwocopieswillbepaidforbytheLibrary

Archivingandcataloging:Oneboundcopywillbereturnedtotheacademicdepartmentgrantingthedegreeandthelibrarystaffwillcatalogtheothersoitis

searchableinthelibrarysonlinecatalog,aswellasinWorldcat.TheLibrarysbound

copywillbestoredintheCollegesArchives/SpecialCollectionsforperpetuityand

OVERSIZEDPAGES

Permittedsizes,orientationsandfoldingrequirementsforbinding: Charts,graphs,tables,

etc.,shouldbereducedwheneverpossibletoan8-by-11-inchsheetsizeandinthesame

orientation(portraitorlandscape)asthebodyofthedocument.If,intheopinionofthestudentwithconcurrencebythestudentsthesiscommittee,thematerialisnotreducible,a

limitednumberofoversizesheetsmustbefoldedtocomewithinthetextarealimitssothe

foldswillnotbetrimmedofforboundinduringthebindingprocedure.Forexample,ina

portraitorienteddocument,ifusing11x17oversizedsheet,thepapermustbetrimmedto

11x15forasinglefoldsheet(seefigure1.1)or11x17untrimmedwithadoublefold

(seefigure1.2).Ineithercase,thesheetshouldbefoldedsothattheleftedgeis1inch
