About the customer

JPFL’s fully automated state-of-the-art manufacturing unit is located in Nashik, India

It is the world’s largest single location plant for the manufacturing of BoPET* and BOPP** films

*BoPET - Biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate**BOPP - Bi-oriented polypropylene

Challenges

All plant operations are managed from two control rooms – the Dornier panel room and the winding and instrumentation panel room

Both these control rooms need to be maintained at 28ºC and RH* of below 70% at all times

The air conditioners used to cool the rooms incurred huge operating costs, as the external temperature during summers usually reached 42°C

*RH – Relative Humidity

HMX’s solution

HMX stepped in and offered an energy-efficient solution to JPFL

Two HMX-FAAC units were proposed and installed Dornier control room had an HMX-FAAC unit of 35000

CFM capacity Winding and instrumentation control room had an HMX-

FAAC unit of 7000 CFM* capacity

*CFM - Cubic Feet per Minute - This measurement indicates how many cubic feet of air passes by a stationary point in one minute.

About the HMX-FAAC

The HMX-FAAC is a revolutionary product that combines Indirect Direct Evaporative Cooling and refrigerated air-conditioning

The HMX-FAAC has multiple modes of operation; the switch over between modes is automated, based on the inputs received from the temperature and RH sensors

It is designed to maintain desired conditions in all seasons

It is ideal for applications where maintaining both temperature and RH are critical

HMX-FAAC for JPFL

The HMX-FAAC has different modes of operation to suit prevailing ambient conditions.

At JPFL, the HMX-FAAC units were switched seamlessly between the following two modes: Ambiator mode: indirect + direct evaporative cooling mode Air-conditioner mode: cooling coil with recirculated air

Depending on process requirements and/or inputs from its temperature and RH sensors, the HMX-FAAC switches between these modes automatically to maintain required conditions within the control room

Page 13: HMX cooling system for energy-efficiency in JPFL

13

Result and benefits due to HMX-FAAC

The HMX-FAAC units consume less than half the energy when running in evaporative cooling mode as compared to conventional air-conditioning systems

These units run in the fresh air mode for 70% of the year and in air conditioning mode for rest of the year

HMX’s FAAC units save a huge amount of energy at the JPFL plant

Low usage of the cooling coil also adds to the longevity of the system

JPFL is a satisfied customer!

JPFL’s management is happy with the performance of HMX’s solution for its control rooms and is an advocate of this solution.
