HM Grnd Bazaar
Transcript of HM Grnd Bazaar
There isn't a shipped items list in Grand Bazaar like in past versions of the series, since there isn't much in the way of a shipping bin in this game. There are small lists in your farmhouse bookcase, but they only tell you what bugs, fish, or cooked recipes you've discovered so far.
The windmillls each have their own list of items that you can make, but it doesn't always tell you where you can find the ingredients needed to make the processed item. You can see the name of the windmill recipe ingredients if you select a recipe and then use the Y button to get the details of it.

Fall
You can't do much work on your farm unless you have some tools. You can obtain tools for free or buy them from the bazaar. The Manufacturing Windmill by Stuart's hotel can remodel some of the tools by upgrading the tool's star quality, which makes the tool more efficient.
There are six main tools you can use; a Watering Can, Hoe, Hammer, Axe, Sickle, and Fishing Rod. There are also a few minor tools, like the Milker and Sheep Clippers, that help you manage your farm animals. All of your tools can be placed away in your Storage House when you're not using them.
To equip a tool, press the Right-Shoulder button on your DS, then press A to select the tool you want to equip. To use a tool, press the B button. Alternatively, to equip a tool you can open your rucksack (X button) and using your touch screen, move the tool from your rucksack to the EQUIP slot.
Watering Can and Hoe
The Watering Can and Hoe are free tools from Felix. You'll get these tools on your second day in the game when Felix visits your house to explain how to plant crops.
The Hoe is used to till the soil in your crop fields. It must be used on the soil before you can plant seeds and use the Watering Can. Additionally, before you can use the Watering Can you must fill it with water. There is a water well by your first field. To fill the can, walk up to the well and press the B button; if it is the first time you've filled up the Watering Can for the day, you'll also recover 1 Stamina point.
Remember, your crop fields are 6 squares x 9 squares (54 total squares).
Each day, when it isn't raining, water your growing crops with the Watering Can to make them grow. It works best if you water your crops in the morning and then again in the evening after the morning's water has evaporated. The color of the soil will tell you if the
crop is in need of water; the soil turns a darker color of brown once the soil square has been sprinkled with water.
Star Quality and Efficiency
Your Watering Can and Hoe have a star quality rank. The tools have half a star when you first receive them from Felix. This means you can affect 1 soil square at a time. The more stars the tool has, the more soil squares it can affect with one use; .5 stars is 1 square, 1 star is 2 squares, 1.5 stars is 3 squares, 2 stars is 4 squares, etc. The most you can cover is a line of 9 squares.
To increase the star quality, place the tool in the Manufacturing Windmill.
Watering Can + 1 Orichalcum + 1 Material Stone + 24 hours (max) = +.5 star rank
Hoe + 1 Mithril + 1 Lumber + 24 hours (max) = +.5 star rank
While the Watering Can or Hoe is processing in the Manufacturing Windmill, you can't use it! The upgrade should only take, at most, 24 hours. A good time to work on increasing the Hoe or can's star rank is at the end of a growing season, a rainy day, or during Winter when nothing grows anyway.
Instead of standing in your field and pressing the tool button, you can jump and use the tool to cover a wider area! When your can or Hoe have .5 stars, it is difficult to tell that something different happens when you jump (press A) and then use the tool (press B in mid-air). As you increase the tools' star quality rank, then you will see the difference.
Using the tool by jumping will use up more stamina than standing and using the tool, but the advantage of covering a wider area of your field makes up for the loss of stamina.

Sickle, Hammer, and Axe
Three other tools can be purchased from Felix at the weekly bazaar. The tools appear in-order after you purchase the previous one. These three tools have limited use and will likely stay in your Storage House most of the time:
Sickle: 1000 G. Only used on crops, such as when you harvest Wheat or Fodder Grass or you want to destroy wilted crops.
Hammer: 8000 G, after you buy the Sickle. Can create Material Stone by using it on Stones, used to break the ice if you want to go fishing during Winter, and can be used on Ore Stones to find rare metals.
Axe: 4000 G, after you buy the Hammer. Used for breaking Branches into Lumber or for destroying trees that you have growing in your field.
Fishing Rod
Your first fishing rod comes free from Felix on or after Summer 2 of your first year. Felix will visit your house as you leave in the morning and give you the Short Fishing Rod. The Short Fishing Rod is used to catch fish that are closest to the fishing docks. The Medium Fishing Rod can be purchased at Felix's bazaar booth for 3000 G starting in year 2, and the Long Fishing Rod is available in year 4 for 6000 G.
The fishing rods also have star quality ranks, but these stars do not increase the distance the line can cast. Increasing the star ranks of the fishing rods at the Manufacturing Windmill will increase the star rank of the fish the rods can catch. Each of the three fishing rods have their own star rank and require separate upgrades at the windmill.
Short Fishing Rod + 1 Copper + 1 Lumber + 72 hours (max) = +.5 star rank Medium Fishing Rod + 1 Copper + 1 Silver + 1 Lumber + 120 hours (max) = +.5
star rank Long Fishing Rod + 1 Copper + 1 Silver + Gold + 1 Lumber + 168 hours (max) =
+.5 star rank
A .5 star rank fishing rod can catch fish between .5 and 1.5 star quality. If you work on upgrading the fishing rod, then a 2.5 star fishing rod can catch 1.5-3.5 star rank fish, and a fully upgraded 5 star fishing rod can catch fish ranked between 4 and 5 stars.
Miscellaneous Tools
The Milker and Sheep Clippers come from Enrique when you purchase one of the required animals. When he delivers your first cow, you'll get a Milker. When he delivers your first sheep, you'll get the Sheep Clippers.
A Brush can be bought from Felix for 3000 G after you have had a cow or sheep delivered to your farm by Enrique. The Brush is used to increase your friendship hearts with your cows and sheep. You can't brush your cats, dogs, or chickens.
The Bell will appear for sale at Felix's booth the next week after you buy the Brush. The Bell is not a cat toy. This tool is used for getting your livestock animal's attention so they are easier to herd in and out of the barn if you don't have pets do it for you.
Before you can "talk" to your chickens, you will need to buy the Stethoscope from Felix's booth for 4000 G after you buy the Bell from him. Equip the Stethoscope and then use it (B button) on a chicken to increase your friendship. You can use it on your cows, sheep, and pets too.
The Dog Bone and Cat Bell are used for training your pets:
Toss the Dog Bone near your dog(s) and it will fetch the bone. You will get +1 training point if the dog notices that you've thrown it ("bark bark"!), and +3 training if it returns the bone back to your feet. If you continue to play fetch with the dog, you will get +1 training for the dog noticing that you've tossed the bone, but it has to retrieve it 5 times before you can earn an additional training point for that day.
The Cat Bell is similar. If you toss the Cat Bell and the cat notices it, you get +1 training point. Each time the cat touches the Cat Bell, you'll earn +3 training points. Eventually the cat will get bored with the bell and wander off. You can toss the bell back at the cat to on the same day, but it takes 5 touches of the Cat Bell before the cat will earn another +1 training.
Friendships with Humans
You can find your friendship levels with the villagers in your Assets menu. Press B in front of your bookcase and move to the list of residents. Marriage candidates will have red-colored hearts, and normal villagers will have orange-colored hearts. There are some villagers that have no hearts at all, which means there isn't a way to raise your friendship with that person.
The special marriage candidates, Amir and Emiko, also have orange colored hearts on the residents assets menu. Their hearts are orange because they are more challenging to marry than the normal red-heart marriage candidates.
Friendship points are on a scale from 0 to 65,530 points. When you reach the appropriate FP point value, a heart will appear next to the villager's name Each of the little heart markers indicate that you have earned 6552 FP with that person:

Besides the heart marker friendship indicators in your assets bookcase, the marriage candidates (minus Amir and Emiko) have colored hearts next to their portraits. As your friendship points increase, the color of the heart will also increase. The colors the hearts represent are the same point scale as the asset menu.

Increasing Friendship Points
The easiest way to raise friendships is by talking to the villagers daily and giving them gifts. Talking to a person will earn you +100 friendship points per day. If you do not talk to a person for 7 or more days, there is a 30% chance that the person will lose 100 FP for each day you continue to ignore him or her. Make sure you talk to people on a regular basis!
Gifts that you give will earn you different amounts of FP depending on how much the person likes the gift. Each person in the game has different gift preferences, so try to give a gift that will give you the most FP impact. You can only give one gift per day. If you have ignored a person for awhile, they will not accept your gifts! To get the person to take gifts again, just talk to them for that day and then try to give the person a gift the next day.
You can increase the friendship points you receive by wrapping the gift you're going to give. The wrapping booth at the weekly bazaar will box up your gifts, one at a time, and charge you 200 G for each one. You can wrap the gifts in red, blue, or yellow paper. If you happen to wrap your gift with a wrapping paper color that the person you are giving the gift to prefers, then you'll earn an extra +100 friendship points!

Giving a gift on the person's birthday is a huge boost in friendship points. Don't forget a villager's birthday!
Besides talking and gifts, you can show the person their favorite animal but only if they are on your farm; either a dog, cat, chick, or chicken. You can earn +100 FP per day by showing the person their preferred pet. You can only do this with your spouse, your child, and Isaac and Wilbur. You can't take the pets or chickens off of your farm.
You can also decrease friendship with villagers. Throwing an item into the rivers of Zephyr Town will drop your FP by -100 with the villagers who happen to be in the same area. Also, if you let one of your animals die of sickness, you will lose -1000 FP with all of the villagers.
Friendships with Animals
You can see your animal friendship points by going into your barn and looking at the blackboard by the door. You will see a menu for your chickens, cows, sheep, cats, dogs, and the horse. If you don't own a specific type of animal, then the animal's status menu will not be accessible.
Each red-colored heart next to the animal represents 99 friendship points, with a maximum of 1000 FP; no hearts means you have between 0 and 99 FP, 1 heart is 100 to 199 FP, and so on. The more hearts an animal has, the higher the star quality of the product the animal produces. You also have a better chance of winning the seasonal animal festivals.
Raising friendship with your animals is fairly easy to do:
+1 FP
- Talk to your animals once per day. You need the Stethoscope to "talk" to your chickens- Clip a sheep's wool- Milk a cow- Pick up a chicken- Have a chicken inside in the morning so it can lay an egg- Ring your bell- Leave your animal outside for 2 hours on a sunny or cloudy day
+2 FP - Brush your cow, sheep, or horse once per day +100 FP - Enter an animal festival and take 3rd place+200 FP - Enter an animal festival and take 2nd place+300 FP - Enter an animal festival and take 1st place
-15 FP- Left your animal outside during a snowstorm, and the next day is snowy- Ignore your animal for 2 days (no talk, brush, etc.)
-10 FP- Leave your animal outside for 2 hours on a stormy or snow storm day- Hit your animal with your hammer, hoe, axe, or sickle
-5 FP- Leave your animal outside for 2 hours on a rainy day- Do not feed your animal
-1 FP - Let your animal remain sick
Crop Growth Rate
To get your crops to grow as fast as possible, you will want to water them twice per day. Watered soil will dry up after 10 hours of in-game time, so the earlier you water your crops in the morning, the earlier you can water them at night before going to bed.
Watering a crop three times per day won't make it grow faster. Watering a crop twice per day is the maximum.
If the day's weather is rainy or hurricane, you don't have to water your crops. Unfortunately because you can't water your crops a second time on rainy days, the rain will actually slow down your crop growth rate. You may have extra time to do other tasks that day, but your crops may mature a day later than you expect them to.
Fertilizer
You can buy Fertilizer from Raul's Zephyr Town shop for 10 G a bag or you can make your own by combining a Branch and a Weed in your Fermenting Windmill. The advantage to making your own is that you can get Fertilizer with higher star rank compared to Raul's .5 star Fertilizer. A higher star rank means the crop's star rank will increase faster.
Fertilizer can be placed on a crop or tree while it is growing in order to increase the star rank of the produced item. For crops, placing Fertilizer once it has matures won't do anything (especially for regrown crops like Yams or Tomatoes) but for trees, Fertilizer will increase the number of fruit it produces.
You can put the Fertilizer on the crops before you water or after you water. It also doesn't matter what time of the day you use it. A crop will sparkle once the Fertilizer has been placed on it.
Generally, you may not want to use Fertilizer until you have the Grinding Windmill unlocked in Fall of your first year. The Grinding Windmill allows you to turn one crop into two bags of seeds. As you increase the star rank of your crops, put some in the Grinding Windmill to produce seeds with the same star quality. When you plant the new seeds, the crop will start out having the seed's star rank; adding Fertilizer will increase the rank further. This technique is how you reach the maximum 5 star rank for crops and trees.
Crop Damage
Be careful not to run through your crops. Doing so will damage them and cause their star rank to fall. If you accidentally do it once or twice you'll most likely be fine, but doing so on a regular basis will result in low star rank crops. Remember to toggle into walk-mode by pressing the Left Shoulder button on your DS.
Hitting your crops with your Axe, Hammer, or Hoe will cause more damage than just running through them.
Summer Hurricanes will not hurt your growing crops. In past versions of Harvest Moon, the bad storms would destroy crops in your fields. In Grand Bazaar, the crops are not affected by a day of bad wind and rain.

Feeding Animals
There are two ways to feed your animals; by putting feed into the animals' feed bins or by letting them graze outside. Fodder and Chicken Feed can be bought at Raul's town shop. If an animal is hungry, it will have a Pet Food (red can) icon next to its name.
Sending animals out to pasture to graze or peck at the ground will result in animals being fed after about 5 hours of outdoor time. If you don't own any pets to herd your animals,
then you need to bring your animals back inside before they go to sleep at 9:00 pm. Sheep and Cows do not want to be returned into the barn until after 5:00 pm, and will head back out to the pasture if you try to push them towards the barn before then.
You can buy a Bell from Felix to help you collect and herd your animals together. The more hearts an animal has, the more responsive it will be towards the sound of the Bell.
When the weather is raining, feed the animals indoors. Cows and Sheep can go outside when it is snowing, but the Chickens cannot.
After you have 10 Chickens or 10 Cows/Sheep, Enrique will have a second feed bin (trough) available for purchase for 50,000 G each.
Animal Stress
Each animal you own has a stress meter next to its name. The stress meter tells you the general health of the animal. As the stress meter fills with blue, the animal becomes more bothered and unhealthy.
When the blue bar fills up on the stress meter, the chance the animal will become sick increases. When the stress bar is at 50%, the animal has a 10% chance of getting sick. When the bar is at 100%, the sickness factor increases to 80%. You can buy Animal Medicine from Raul's town shop for 500 G each. If you don't cure your animal's sickness, the animal will die. A sick animal will have a Skull appear above it when you talk to it. This also displays on the animal list on your blackboard.
Animals die in the morning when you wake up. You will receive a visit from Felix, who tells you how the animal died, either from a preventable illness because of your lack of care or because it has reached the end of its natural lifespan. Only one animal can die per day.
To prevent animals from becoming stressed and to raise their friendship hearts, let them outside in the pastures on nice days, brush and talk to them often, make sure they're well fed, and don't hit them with your tools.
The Blackboard Icons
If you look at the blackboard inside your barn, you'll find a set icons on the right-side of each animal:
Talk - Walk up to a Cow or Sheep and press the B button to talk to the animal. It will respond with a heart or music note icon (if you've talked to it once before that day). You cannot talk to Chickens until you own the Stethoscope. You can buy the Stethoscope from Felix at the bazaar after you own a Cat Bell and Dog Bone.
Pet - Buy the Brush from Felix and use it on your Cows and Sheep to pet them. For Chickens, all you have to do is pick them up from off of the ground. You can't use the Brush on the birds.
Harvest - Enrique will give you the Milker when you buy a Cow and the Sheep Clippers when you buy a Sheep. Use these tools on the animals to collect milk and wool. You don't need a special tool to harvest eggs from Chickens; you just have to walk up to the nests and pick up the eggs.
Gold Items
When you enter an animal into the Animal Festival, it can start to randomly produce high quality items if it is declared the festival winner. Either the standard or special animals can produce these gold items, but a special animal has a higher chance of producing them. If the animal wins twice, then the chance of it randomly producing these items also increases.
Chickens
Chickens are inexpensive and a good animal for starting out with. A Chick costs 3500 G and an adult Chicken costs 6000 G. The advantage of buying Chicks is that they have 2 hearts of friendship and an adult bird has zero. A Chick will take 8 days to mature into a Chicken, as long as it is fed every day. In year 3 or later, you can buy a Silkie Chick for 3500 G and an adult Silkie for 7000 G.
Each day, adult chickens will leave eggs on their nests; a normal Chicken lays regular Eggs and a Silkie lays Black Eggs. You just have to walk over to the nest and pick the egg up. Leaving the egg on the nest will not hatch into a Chick, nor will it increase the
egg's star rank. As long as the Chicken is fed, it will produce an egg the next morning. If you do leave it on the nest, it will be replaced with a new egg the next day.
Chicken eggs can be processed in the fermenting windmill on your farm and turned into Mayonnaise. Mayo requires Oil though, which you can buy from Chen's shop for 100 G each. You can also use the eggs in various cooked dishes or give them as gifts.
Chickens have a maximum lifespan of 6 years. They can begin to die of natural causes once they reach about year 4 of their lives.

Cows and Sheep
Cows and Sheep are a little more expensive than Chickens. A baby Cow costs 6000 G, and an adult is 12,000 G. Once you reach year 3, the baby Jersey is 10,000 G and the adult-size is 18,000 G. Baby Sheep are 8000 G (normal) and 16,000 G (Suffolk). An adult Sheep is 16,000 G. An adult Suffolk sheep is the most expensive animal at 28,000 G each. A baby will mature into an adult after 20 days if it is fed every day. If not, then add an extra day to its growth for each day the baby animal did not eat.
Every day, you can use the Milker to receive Milk from a Cow. Jersey Cows produce Jersey Milk every day, which sell for more than normal Milk. Enrique gives you the Milker when he delivers your first Cow to your farm.
Sheep take 3 days before you can collect their wool. To obtain the Wool, use the Sheep Clippers you received from Enrique when he delivered your first Sheep. The Sheep don't mind having their fur trimmed, and it will naturally grow back after the 3 days time as long as the sheep has been fed every day. If the Sheep doesn't seem to be recovering its hair, make sure the sheep isn't over-stressed. The more stress a Sheep has, the less of a chance its fur will grow back after 3 days.
Sheep have a maximum lifespan of 7 years and can start to die off once they reach 5 years old. Cows on the other hand, can live beyond 7 years but there is an 80% chance of death each morning beyond age 7. Cows can start to die of old age in year 5.

Bug Hunting
Throughout the areas around Zephyr Town you'll find a variety of insects flying and crawling around. They aren't just for looking at; you can catch the bugs and sell them or
give them as gifts! The only equipment you need for catching bugs are your hands. You don't need a net or any other type of equipment.
There are 6 categories of insects and 1 frog category. Each family of insects has 3 additional groups. The harder the insect is to catch, the more money you can earn from it if you sell it. The frogs are the only family that doesn't split into 3 levels of difficulty; frogs are always pretty easy to catch.
You will only find insects on Your Farm, the Waterfall Area, Zephyr Town, and the Hotel area. There aren't any insects in the Horse Track or the bazaar grounds. When you are hunting for insects, the insects will reset on the hour when you enter an area. For example, if you are trying to catch an Emperor Firefly on your farm and you don't find one at 11:15 pm, go back out to the Waterfall area, wait until midnight, then go back to your farm and look again. If you still don't find one, go back to the Waterfall area and enter your farm again after 1pm. At each hour mark (:00), the bugs will reset.
If you are going to sell the insect, you will earn more for hard to catch insects in gold bug cages compared to bugs in silver bug cages or green bug cages. Bugs do not "rot" so they do not have a freshness rating but they do have a star ranking. You can store as many bugs as you want and they'll never go bad or lose star rank.
A list of all of the bugs and frogs you catch can be found in the bookcase inside your house.
Cicada Beetle Dragonfly Firefly Frog Butterfly Grasshopper
Cicadas
These insects are found on tree trunks during the summer season. To catch them, you want to stand in front of the tree but some distance back. Then press A to jump (no double jump required) and press B to catch the cicada. Make sure you are in "walk" mode
when you are positioning yourself in front of the tree. If you are running, the cicada will fly away.
The most profitable cicada are the Chattering Cicada (360 G @ 2.5 stars) and the Bear Cicada (570 G @ 2.5 stars), as long as you are selling the insects at the bazaar. If you are going to sell insects to Raul at the store in Zephyr Town, you will only earn half as much.

Heart Events
One of the requirements you need to complete before you can get married is to see the candidate's four heart events. These events will become available as you raise your friendship with the marriage candidate. You will see a heart event when the person has a black heart color, and then again when you reach the purple, blue, and yellow heart colors; Emiko is the only candidate that doesn't have a true black heart event.
You can see the events if the person is at the required heart color or higher than the required color for the event; you can see a yellow heart event even if the person has a red heart color. The events must be viewed in sequential order though. The black event must be viewed first, then the purple event, followed by the blue event, and finally the yellow event.
During a heart event, you will learn more about the characters who are involved in the event. After hearing the story you will be given a choice on how to respond. If you choose an answer that is positive, then you will earn friendship points with those involved in the event. If you choose a negative answer, then you will lose friendship points. If you do answer negatively, it doesn't mean that you can no longer marry that person. You simply have to give gifts to increase the person's friendship points again.
Each heart event can only be triggered one time. You can't re-do a heart event unless you reload to the last time you saved your game.

» Walk from Zephyr Town to the Waterfall Area» 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm - Friday, Saturday, or Sunday» Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy weather» Not on a Bazaar or Festival day
You find Antoinette watching the river, but when you approach her she demands to know what you want with her. She tells you she is thinking; the location is nice and quiet. Antoinette goes back to "thinking" and realizes that you haven't made an effort to leave. She asks if you should be doing something else, like working on your farm.
I'd rather talk to you. (-2000 FP)
I'm done for today. (+3000 FP)
Antoinette didn't realize you were such a fast worker. You seem to be an okay farmer. She invites you to relax with her and tell her a story.
Purple Heart Event
» Walk from Zephyr Town to the Hotel Area» 11:00 am to 2:00 pm - Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday» Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy weather» Not on a Bazaar or Festival day» Antoinette is at a purple heart color (10,000 FP) or higher» You have seen the Black Heart Event
You've noticed that Antoinette is usually all by herself. She tells you that she doesn't really know anyone in the village so it's easier for her to be alone. Antoinette explains that she use to live in a city but a little while before you arrived, she moved to Zephyr Town with her dad. Her mom stayed behind in the city because of her job as a fashion designer.
She suddenly finds it odd that she's telling you all these things, especially since she hardly knows you.
Your mom must like her job. (+2000 FP)
Antoinette thinks her mom likes her job too much, and wishes she'd make time for other things. You seem to be a person who has balanced your work with everything else. Antoinette thanks you for talking with her.
What's the city like? (+2000 FP)
Many people go to the city to chase their dreams, but usually end up working a boring job to pay their bills. A lot of broken hearts can be found in the city. Antoinette thanks you for talking with her.
Blue Heart Event
» Claude and Antoinette's house» 6:27 pm to 9:00 pm - Friday» Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy weather» Not on a Bazaar or Festival day» Antoinette is at a blue heart color (20,000 FP) or higher» Claude has 10,000 FP (1 heart) or more» You have seen the Purple Heart Event
You startle Antoinette, who didn't expect you to be behind her. The bookcase you are by contains references books about clothes that belong to her mother. The books are about fashions, materials, designs, and so on from other cultures and time periods. The two of you browse through the books until Claude comes home.
He smiles and says it is unusual for Antoinette to bring someone home. Antoinette replies that you just happened to stop by. Claude thinks for a moment and then tells the two of you that he feels he came home early today, so he's going to go out for a walk. He leaves the house, and the two of you, alone.
That was awkward. (+3000 FP)
She tells you not to worry about it because it wasn't your fault. Her dad is always trying to go out of his way to please everyone, which is why he didn't object to her mom staying in the city when they moved to the town. She's glad that her mom gets to pursue her dreams, but she doesn't understand why he doesn't want his whole family to live together.
Antoinette apologizes for being so emotional, but she respects her mom and isn't mad at her. She's glad that you're a good listener.
Your dad's a nice guy. (-2000 FP)
Yea, but she wishes that he'd think about himself sometimes. Antoinette seems to be lost in thought, and tells you it's nothing. You can keep reading the reference books if you want.
Yellow Heart Event
» Walk into your house» 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm» Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy weather» Not on a Bazaar or Festival day» Antoinette is at a yellow heart color (40,000 FP) or higher» You have seen the Blue Heart Event
Antoinette has come over and she wants to talk.
Come on in. (+0 FP)
Antoinette doesn't know what to do. Her mother wants her to go to the city to start studying fashion design. She is interested in it and she has a lot to learn if she's serious about it, but she doesn't understand why she has to go to the city to do so. Antoinette doesn't know if she wants to move away right now. She thought you might have some advice for her.
I don't know. (-5000 FP)
You're right; she shouldn't of asked you about this. Antoinette decides that she's the only one who can make this decision, and sadly leaves.
Listen to your heart. (+3000 FP)
Are you trying to cheer her up? It looks like you've succeeded though. Antoinette is going to take some more time to think about her mother's request and she thanks you for listening to her.
I'm busy right now. (-5000 FP)
Reputation Points
The reputation you earn is based on a point system. You will start with 0 reputation points at the start of every bazaar. The choices you make one week will not affect the choices that you make another week. Every week your points slate is wiped clean.
When a question is asked, you will be given three choices to respond with. Each choice will be worth either -5 reputation ("went down a little"), -10 ("went down a lot"), +5 reputation ("went up a little"), or +10 reputation ("went up a lot"). You will pick an appropriate choice, the customer will give you feedback on your choice, and you will receive a notice on how much your reputation has changed. The points will accumulate until the bazaar ends at 7:00 pm.
You may receive the same question more than once per bazaar. You will earn reputation for each question asked, whether it is a duplicate or not.
The next day at the bazaar results, Felix will say who's stand had the best customer service. To be the best you need to earn 60 or more reputation points during the previous day's bazaar.

Foraging for Ground Items
As you walk around in the game, you'll find items sitting on the ground for you to pick up. These free items will change per season and they have an associated star quality. This means the items will decay if you try to store them for a long period of time.
The star quality of the wild items will increase as your progress through the years. At the beginning of the game, you'll find items between .5 and 1.5 stars. The star quality will quickly increase until you reach year 5, where you will find items worth 4 stars. You won't see 5 star ranks until year 10 though.
Many of these items can be processed in the windmills to make better selling items; Honeycomb can be turned into Honey at the Grinding Windmill, flowers and herb can be turned into perfume, and branches/stones can be broken up into ingredients needed for tool upgrades.
Besides flowers and herbs, you can also find coins hidden in the ground. To find a coin, just look for a sparkling point on the ground, then go there and press B. Most of the time you'll find the common Small Coin, which can be sold at the bazaar, given as gifts, or turned into better coins at the Manufacturing Windmill. Coins do not have star quality ranks and cannot rot.
During bad weather such as Stormy, Hurricane, or Snow Storm, the chance that you'll find a better coin increases. The sparkles on the ground will be more noticeable, and the darkened sky makes it easier for you to find them. You can find Bronze Coins, Silver Coins, and Gold Coins.
The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Coins are used at the Super Lucky Lotto at the bazaar once you have expanded the bazaar to 75%. The Super Lucky Lotto will exchange coins for a chance to win prizes. One lotto pull is going to cost you 5 Bronze Coins, 3 Silver Coins,
or 1 Gold Coin. The grand prize for the lotto is a bottle of Magic Water, which when eaten, will increase your maximum stamina level by 20 points. There are only 5 bottles of Magic Water available in the game.

The Snowballs and Ore Stones aren't meant to be sold for profit:
If you pick up a Snowball and throw it onto the ground, it will break apart and possibly reveal an item inside of it. You can find flowers, Weed, Branch, Stone or Ore Stone, Curry Dumpling, and sometimes even another Snowball!
Ore Stones can be broken apart with your Hammer. Inside of the rock you may find a special gem but most of the time you'll just fine Scrap Metal. You also can find Copper, Silver, Gold, Amethyst, Emerald, Flourite, Moon Stone, or Sand Rose inside of an Ore Stone if you're lucky.
Foraging for Water Items
If you've got nothing else to do for the rest of the day, then you may want to try looking for items in the waters around town. Each time you jump into the water you'll loose 8 stamina points, so it's a good way to use up stamina before you go to bed for the day to recharge your stamina.
After you jump into the water and emerge, you have a 10% chance of finding something attached to your clothing. All of the waters in the town have a chance of finding the same items, and the same items are available all year long.
When coming out the water, you can find Small Coin, Empty Can, Branch, Ore Stone, Sea Urchin, Gold, or Straight Tea (Can).
Marriage Requirements
You can't get married right away. There are some requirements you must complete to prove that you have made an effort to accommodate another person living with you.
Reach a red heart color (60,000 FP) See the person's heart events Have friendship with the person's family Purchase the Big Bed from the Bazaar Be in year 2 of your game or later
Red Heart Color
If you want to have a husband or wife, you need to work on raising the person's friendship level. When you talk to a candidate, you will see a colored heart next to their portrait. The color of heart will tell you how affectionate the person is towards you.
A red heart color is reached when you have earned 60,000 or more FP. As you give gifts and talk to the person, his or her heart color will change. There are 7 heart color stages.
Black → Purple → Blue → Green → Yellow → Orange → Red0 to9,999 FP
10,000 to19,999 FP
20,000 to29,999 FP
30,000 to39,999 FP
40,000 to49,999 FP
50,000 to59,999 FP
60,000 to65,530 FP
Each of the marriage candidates has different gift preferences. Their "Special" gift is worth +800 FP, the "Love" gift is +500 FP, and the "Like" gift is +150 FP. Give the person the best gift you can each day.
For an extra challenge, the marriage candidates Emiko and Amir do not have visible heart colors. If you want to marry one of them, you will need to keep an eye on the number of hearts thay have instead of a heart color. Check the bookcase next to your bed to view the heart markers for each villager. When you have 10 hearts with Emiko or Amir, it does not automatically mean you have a red heart color. The 10th heart maker will appear when you have reached about 59,000 FP. You still need to give additional gifts after you see the last heart appear on the villager profile pages in order to reach the required 60,000 FP.
Heart Events
You will also need to trigger heart events that give a back story on how the person feels towards you. There are heart events at Black, Purple, Blue, and Yellow heart colors, and you must view them in order.
During the event you will be asked a question. If your answer is liked by the marriage candidate, then you will earn between +2000 and +5000 FP. If your answer choice is not liked, then you will lose Friendship Points. Even if you pick the wrong answer
accidentally, it doesn't mean you can't marry that person. You just lose some friendship, which you can regain by giving gifts again.
Emiko only has events at 10,000, 20,000, and 40,000 FP. She doesn't have a Black (0 FP) heart event.
Some of the heart events also require you to have a certain level of friendship with other event participants. For example, in Daisy's Purple Heart event, you need to have at least 500 FP with Agi before the event can trigger.
Big Bed
To make room for your future spouse, you will need to purchase a larger bed for your house. You can purchase the bed for 10,000 G at the Bazaar shop, Flowing Furniture. This shop is available from the beginning of the game.
Family Friendship
Before you can marry someone, you also need to have a minimum friendship level of 30,000 with the person's family. It wouldn't be polite for you to woo away someone who is important to them! If you don't have the required friendship, then you can't marry that person until you do. Some marriage candidates don't have any family, so this requirement may not be important.
Daisy - Stuwart and Ethel Antoinette - Claude Dirk - Ivan Lloyd - Felix and Sherry Sherry - Felix and Lloyd Ivan - Dirk
Year 2, Blue Feather, and Proposal
To propose marriage to your potential spouse, you will need to give him or her the Blue Feather. This item will be given to you by Stuart and Ethel when you have reached an orange heart color with a marriage candidate. The handing over of the Blue Feather will occur at your farm house, but only after you have reached your second year in the game. You can not get married if you are still in year 1.
When you have completed all of the marriage requirements, you can propose to your love. Give the person the Blue Feather and he or she will accept it. If you try to give the Blue Feather and it is rejected, then you have NOT completed the marriage requirements. Go back and double check to make sure you have accomplished everything.
The Wedding
If your Blue Feather is accepted, the wedding will be scheduled for 7 days later. Weddings can't occur on the same day as festivals or bazaars, so it may be bumped to another day that will fit better. The wedding date will not show on the calendar inside your house.
If you marry Emiko, the wedding is at her shrine with no one else in attendance. If you marry anyone else, the wedding will be at the town square with all of the other villagers. There are no wedding clothes and Felix presides over the ceremony.
Once the ceremony is over, the game credit will roll and you will return back to your farm house.
After you're married, your new spouse will ask you what nickname you would like to be called. You can choose a new name or simply re-enter your existing one. Some people like cute pet names ("honey", "dear", etc.), and some like goofy names ("dude", "you", etc.). The new name you choose can not be changed later!
Once your spouse has moved in, there's not much to expect out of him or her. You won't get a cooked meal or help with your farm. Your spouse will simply stand around when at home, and will leave from time to time to do things he/she did before marriage; Agi goes to his shop to work, Ivan leaves for the city to teach, Daisy goes to the hotel, etc.
Celebrations
Once you are married, you can celebrate your wedding anniversary together. Go into your house after 8:00 pm (when not holding an item) and if your spouse has at least a yellow heart color, the two of you will have a special meal.
Birthdays are also celebrated: your's, your spouse's, and your child's. To celebrate birthdays, you go into your house after 8:00 pm again on the date of the birthday. Your spouse must be at a yellow heart color or higher, and if you have a child that can walk, your child must also have at least 40,000 FP. If your child can't walk or you don't have one yet, then you don't have to worry about the additional child friendship requirement.

The Cat, Dog, and Horse Pets
Pets in Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar help you to make managing your farm a little bit easier. The pets don't produce anything for sale, but they help you save time so you can work on other chores.
At the beginning of the game, you won't have any pets on your farm. You can unlock pets as you proceed through the years. Once you obtain a pet, you can not sell it and it will never die of sickness. Detailed information about your pets (friendship, training, etc.) can be found on the blackboard inside of your animal barn. Pets come in a variety of different colors and there is no advantage to choosing a specific color.
You can own five cats, five dogs, and one horse.
Cats and Dogs
Cats are unlocked once you own four or more chickens. You can buy the cats at Enrique's Animal booth at the bazaar for 10,000 G each. The black and white cats are available once you unlock the ability to own cats. The orange and peach cats are available starting in year 3.
Dogs are unlocked once you own a combination of four or more cows and/or sheep. There are two different styles of dogs; a pointy-ear dog and a floppy-ear dog. The pointy-ear black and light brown dogs are available once you unlock the ability to own dogs. The floppy-ear brown dogs appear starting in year 2. After you reach your 3rd year in the game, the remaining 3 colors of dogs are unlocked. A pointy-ear dog costs 8000 G and a floppy-ear dog costs 10,000 G.
Cats and Dogs eat Pet Food from Raul's Zephyr Town shop. Each can of food can feed 5 cats and dogs, and the feed trough in your house can hold up to 3 cans of food. If you do not feed your pets then they will lose Friendship Points.
Working on the farm
Cats and dogs automatically herd animals from your barn to the outside areas. Cats will manage the chickens while dogs will take care of the cows and sheep. The pets will start working around 8:00 am and bring the animals back inside starting around 4:00 pm.
Dogs will not take your cows or sheep outside when it is raining outside, but they will take them outside if it is snowing. The snow won't decrease your cow or sheep friendship points, so don't panic when you see your dogs taking your cows outside in winter. They won't take animals outside during a snowstorm.
Cats will take chickens outside on sunny or cloudy days, but they keep them indoors on rainy and snowy days.
Cat and Dog TrainingT.P. Animals0 150 2100 3300 4600 51000 6
The more your pets are trained, the more animals each one can handle. You can see your pets' training stars on the blackboard inside of your farm. Each training star is worth 100 points, with a maximum of 1000 points (10 stars). When a pet has 1000 Training Points, it can herd six animals.
To train your dogs and cats, you will need to buy the Dog Bone and Cat Bell from Felix' bazaar booth. The two items will not appear until after you own a dog and cat, and then they have a chance of randomly being available for purchase at the bazaar. The Dog Bone and Cat Bell cost 2500 G each. If you lose the bone or bell, you can buy another at Felix's booth.
The Bell is not the same thing as the Cat Bell. The Bell is an item you can use to gather your sheep and cows together if you were pushing them in and out of the barn. Once you own dogs to herd your animals for you, the Bell is useless and can be stored in your storage house.
You will earn the maximum amount of training points if you use the bone and bell once per day. You can train with your pet more than once, but it will take more effort to earn the same amount of TP.
The Cat Bell
Using the Cat Bell works best if your cats are together in the same area. Then simply take the Cat Bell out of your rucksack and throw it at them.
When the cat(s) notice the bell ( ) then you will earn 1 Training Point. The first time a cat touches the Cat Bell in a day, then you will earn 3 Training
Points. If the cat continues to hit the bell around, it takes 5 hits before it will earn an
additional 1 Training Point.
The problem with the Cat Bell is that it can be lost fairly easily. I've had cats who have hit the bell into the kitchen area, only to have it vanish and never return. It helps to follow the bell around as your cats hit it and keep it on your screen. The other option is to simply toss the Cat Bell into your Basket, where it is automatically placed into your storage house. The cats will get 1 Training Point for noticing you throwing it, and if you take the Cat Bell back out of the house and throw it back into the Basket, you'll continue to rack up Training Points.
The Dog Bone
Training the dogs is the same method as training the cats, but by using the Dog Bone instead. Throw the bone when standing near a dog to start training.
When the dog(s) notice the bone ( ) then you will earn 1 Training Point. When the dog fetches the bone the first time in a day, and brings it back to you, it
will earn 3 Training Points. If you continue to throw the bone and the dog brings it back, it will take 5 returns
before you will earn an additional TP for the day.
The easiest way to train your dogs is to go into your house and throw the Dog Bone up against a wall. It will bounce back towards you. When the dog picks it up, the distance it needs to run to return the bone is greatly reduced. This means you can throw the Dog Bone more often indoors compared to trowing it outdoors in the same amount of time.
Horse
The horse is a free pet you receive on Summer 2 of your second year. When you awake in the morning, Enrique will walk you outside and give you an option to choose one of four horse colors. It doesn't matter what color you pick, and you can't change your choice afterward.
You can use the horse to move around Zephyr Town faster than you can run. The horse can only move along the town paths and can't take short-cuts by jumping on the barrels like you can. You can take the horse everywhere except into the Waterfall or into the bazaar grounds.
The horse eats the carrot-shaped Horse Treats from Raul's town shop; just toss the biscuit on the ground near the horse to feed it. Each treat costs 150 G and you can start buying
them from his shop the day after you get the horse (Summer 3). If you don't feed the horse, then it will lose friendship points.
Horse Training
The horse's Friendship Points (hearts) determine its maximum top speed when running and its Training Points help to increase the amount of FP you can earn when riding the horse at the race track. Basically, "training" the horse speeds up the time it takes to reach 10 hearts. The horse doesn't herd anything like the dog or cat does.
Each heart the horse has is 100 FP. To increase its friendship, you can do the normal tasks like riding it each day (+3 FP), feeding it (+1), brushing it (+3), and talking to it with the Stethoscope tool (+3). It will take a long time to increase its friendship if you just do the basic things. With a low FP level, the horse won't be very fast.
To unlock the race track, walk to the pile of boulders to the west of Lloyd's house after you own a horse. You'll meet up with Felix and Wilbur, who will destroy the boulders so you can use the track.
After the boulders are gone, you can ride your horse to the track. When you arrive, you can choose to Practice or view the scores of your previous Practice Records. When you are in Practice mode, you have 3 laps around the track to jump over the track hurdles. The game will record how many times you jump over the hurdles without bumping into an object. The highest number of successful jumps you make will be the amount of Training Points you earn for that day.
Only your first Practice run of each day will give you the maximum number of TP. If you try to practice a second time in the same day, you'll only earn 1 TP no matter how many times you jump over the hurdles.
(You can race backwards if you're really trying to earn a large TP combination.)
After you have passed your three laps, your horse will earn Friendship Points depending on the number of training stars it has; 0 stars is +5 FP, 1 star is +6 FP, 2 stars is +7 FP, and so on. The maximum Friendship Points you can earn for finishing a practice run is 15 FP (10 stars).
