Public Health England and Professor Kevin Fenton, National Executive Director H&W, remain as committed as ever to the role of CPs in public health and the HLP concept. Kevin has published a blog on GOV.UK discussing why now is the time for pharmacy to make its mark in public health. We would encourage you to read and cascade it to your pharmacies and teams. Following on from a facilitated session of the Pharmacy and Public Health Forum, held in late January, to determine the Forum’s priorities for 2015/16, we can inform you that furthering HLPs emerged as one the top three key priorities. HLP Task Group: We now have over 1000 accredited HLPs across the country with over 3000 Health Champions! For 2015/16, the PPHF’s HLP Task Group have been charged with increasing the number of accredited HLPs and those on route to accreditation to 2000 by end March 2016. Dr Paul Edmondson-Jones has stepped back into the role of HLP TG Chair and the TG has been re-formed and re-constituted with appropriate membership from key stakeholders. The Group have already met twice now (March and May 2015) and we can tell you that the work programme is being mapped out with some exciting and promising outputs; the Group’s focus lies on HLP acceleration, accreditation and awareness. Data collected on PharmOutcomes shows that

29.2% of those 24 consultations had not

spoken to anyone before about the problem.

66.7% had never used a fluid diary before. This

means that we could be helping a lot of

people with self-care of continence problems

and aid management of the condition.

Training Event for HLP Skin Care Awareness

We are pleased to announce that Leo Pharma have agreed to support our Skin Awareness

Health Campaign which is scheduled for August and September. Michelle Sloss,

Dermatology Account Manager for Staffordshire will be providing a training session to

demonstrate the fantastic self-care tools and Apps for patients to enable them to manage

their condition. Resources will be handed out to Pharmacies on the evening to facilitate

the promotion of this campaign.
