Bazaar Thank Yous A Huge Thank you goes out to everyone who supported our annual bazaar! Whether knitting or sewing in your suite, baking & crafting with us during busy hands times, helping during the day of or shopping, we truly love that this event brings us all together for such a wonderful day! Our Bazaar (including raffle ticket sales), yielded $3395.90! That money will be spent in three ways… The first cut will simply pay for all of our bazaar expenses, another portion will be donated to charity and the rest will be used to purchase something that can be enjoyed by everyone. We will also be making our annual donations to the two churches who support us all year

with monthly worship services, Salvation Army’s Langley South Corp as well as St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. Thanks again everyone! Note: The last of our bazaar items will be sold at the Family & Friends Christmas party on December 6th.

Message from Chef Mario As the food service team will be especially busy on Thursday, December 6th preparing for our wonderful annual Christmas Party that night, we will not be accepting guests for dinner. Residents will be allowed in the dining room early on that day as the dining room will be closing early as well. Dinner hours for Thursday, December 6th will be 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Thanks for your understanding.

It’s that time of year again when we see the calendar roll over into another new year and we wonder where the time has gone. We just want to say Thank You to each and every one of you for making our jobs so wonderful! On behalf of all of the staff, we sincerely wish you and your family & friends a very Merry Christmas and we truly hope you have a wonderful 2019!

Christmas Light Tour Join us on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:00pm for a tour of Langley’s finest Christmas light displays. We are excited to be offering this evening scenic drive with all of the sparkle and glitter of the holiday season. We will be bringing Harrison Hot Chocolate to keep us warm! Tasty hot chocolate with Kahlua and Baileys Irish Cream. No Alcohol version also available. This outing will be ‘weather permitting’. In the event of inclement weather we will be staying home in our cozy warm home. The cost for this outing is $10.00. Please sign up at the front reception.

Photos with Santa!

We’re so lucky to have favour with Santa himself. He’s

told us he’ll be in town on Thursday, December 13th at 10:30am! He so loves meeting everyone and is looking forward to coming back to enjoy photos, candy canes, and cookies. Please join us in the main lounge near the top of the stairs on the first floor. (You can’t miss him). The photos will be on the digital photo frame for you to en-joy. If anyone would like a print of their picture with Santa talk to Linda or June and for $1.00 each we will have them devel-oped for you!

Christmas Treasures & Memories

Most of us have fond memories of the holiday season. Some of us may even have trinkets, ornaments or other special Holiday souvenirs from days of old. We would love to have you all come and join us on Tuesday, December 11th at 10:00am in the Bar Lounge as we share memories and trinkets. If you have any old ornaments or other holiday related items, please bring them to show us. You may not have access to your trinkets, but we’re hoping

you can bring a fond memory or two. Alternatively, you are wel-come to come and simply listen to others and see the interesting items that people bring! Join us!

Holiday Happy Hour with The Suede Dogs!

MYSTERY SCENIC DRIVE

Join us on Wednesday, December 19th at 1:15pm for another Beautiful BC Scenic Drive. This is a perfect outing for those who may not be up for a lot of walking but would like to get out, breathe the fresh warm air and see fall leaves turning all around us. This outing will cost $6.00. Please sign up at our front reception. This outing is weather permitting.

Willowbrook Mall

We will be shuttling our shoppers to Willowbrook Mall on Friday, December 14th at 1:15pm. Willowbrook Mall offers everything you might want to

buy or simply enjoy people watching while having coffee at

the food fair. Sign up in the activity binder at the front

reception. The bus user-fee is FREE!

Round Table Discussion

Our Round Table Discussions offer a time for us to discuss current events on a local, national and

world wide level. Thank you to the residents who bring articles of interest to share. All are welcome. Our next forum is on Thursday, December 27th at 2:00pm in the TV Lounge.

Holiday Movies Join us in the TV Lounge on

Thursday, December 13th at 2:00pm and the 24th, 25th & 26th at 2:00pm

for Special Holiday Movies! Also look for great Holiday Movies to be interspersed throughout the month of December! Don’t you just look forward to seeing some of the old holiday classics? Look on the bulletin board outside the 1st floor elevators for movie listings. Bring a friend (or come and make friends) and join in the fun! Sometimes a good movie really hits the spot during the holidays.

Shirley and Ed’s Travels

Shirley Tempest has so graciously offered to share some of her exciting travels done over the years with her husband Ed. Shirley has such fond memories of all of the wonderful places they were

able to see through their years together... and she is willing to share them with us all! Come and join Shirley on Thursday, December 27th, 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the TV Lounge as she shares pictures and memories from the many places they have been all over the world. Each month Shirley will provide us with her insight of a different place they have been. Our December Evening = ???location???. If you have treasures , memories or pictures from Arizona, please bring them!

What fun we used to have playing Hangman and now it’s back! Come down to the TV Lounge on Tuesday, December 18th at 10:00am for a fun time with a good old fashioned word game! We will be playing in teams so there is no pressure to know the answers, just come to be part of the group! No experience necessary!

Vinyl Cafe Comedy Hour We would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday, December 12th at 2:00pm in the TV Lounge as we listen to Stuart McLean tell a few of his

wonderful funny Christmas short stories! Stuart is an engaging speaker who spins comedy throughout his tales. He is a Canadian radio broadcaster, humourist, monologist, and author, best known as the host of the CBC Radio program The Vinyl Cafe. He is often described as a "story-telling comic", though he has written many serious stories as well. Join us for an afternoon of giggles!

Dal’s Foot Care

Dal Khor, the Registered Nurse who comes to Harrison Landing for our ‘foot care’ will be available on the first two Wednesdays of each month from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Dal is a Registered Foot Care Nurse and is a DVA provider (Department of Veterans Affairs). Now is your chance to have Dal help you with your nails, corns, callouses and more. Make your appointment anytime at the front reception and visit her in the Bathing Wellness Room. See calendar for dates.

Karly’s Day Spa Karly is a certified esthetician and has brought her Day Spa ’here to us at Harrison Landing. She offers manicures, pedicures, facial hair re-moval and more! Karly’s Day Spa will be set up in the exercise room (on the lower level)

Happy Hour/Sing-a-Long Tuesdays

We continue to enjoy our Sing-A-Longs during our Happy Hour every Tuesday afternoon. On most Tuesdays we are lucky to have Barbara Stuart tickling the ivories for us! Come on down to the bar lounge on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00pm and we’ll

Armchair Yoga We are loving our Armchair yoga! Yoga offers such great health benefits… It can help improve posture, breathing and mobility,

counteract arthritis symptoms, increase mobility and range of motion as well as improve dexterity and coordination. It also facilitates improved spinal movement, strengthens our core and releases back tension. Yoga’s gentle rhythmic movements will lubricate our joints, increase our range of motion and so much more! We now have two different DVDs that we will alternate. We love our ‘Exercise Made Easy’ on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings! There is a wonderful combination of warm-ups, gentle toning, cardio training, stretching and soothing cool downs. Each day will offer a slightly different workout than the last and every class will be geared towards all levels of fitness and ability. There`s really nothing holding us back now folks, come and check it out… Exercise Made Easy. Keeping our bodies moving is so vital to our quality of life, we can`t encourage you enough to come and give it a try. See you in the Exercise Room, on the ground floor, on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at 10:00am. We hope to see everyone there!

Massage & Healthy Aging Compassionate Touch Geriatric Massage will be coming to Harrison Landing regularly for all of your massage needs. Whether you have chronic neck and back pain, are recovering from surgery or a hospital stay or you just want to maintain your mobility and overall good health, Chonna and Roxanne are here to help! The sessions are half an hour long and can be done fully clothed on their special massage chair. We will be enjoying Therapeutic Colouring on Sundays at 3:00pm. This will be a casual time of colouring for anyone who is interested. Anyone

SIT & STITCH

Join us on Thursday mornings at 10:00am in the Country Kitchen (on the 4th floor) as we welcome our amazing Langley Quilting Guild Volunteers to help us with all of our sewing and quilting pro-jects! Our volunteers bring their wisdom and knowledge as well as a constant supply of new ideas and projects. No experience needed! Please come up and check us out. Bring your project or join in on one of our group pro-jects. The coffee will be on and we en-courage visitors, so feel free to join us!
