HIV Peer Education Services Purpose: Link clients to HIV care and support services. Provide referrals as needed. Provide health education and literacy training to enable clients to navigate the HIV system of care. Who is eligible for Peer Education Services? Individuals who are newly diagnosed with HIV. Persons Living with HIV/AIDS who have been out of HIV care for six months or longer. The partner or family member of a current HIV-positive client. Who provides Peer Education Services? Peer Education Services are provided by Peer Counselors (persons living with HIV/AIDS). The Peer Counselors receive special training and work closely with the HIV case managers to provide a range of services to clients. Peer Counselors are available to answer questions, provide support, share real-life examples, and share resources. Peer Counselors share knowledge about HIV disease and assist with treatment adherence counseling. For more information or to receive a referral to a Peer Counselor, call (630) 682-7400 ext. 7505.
