The Hitachi Compute Blade server family brings to servers the same superior quality and reliability that Hitachi storage products are well known for. Built on the latest Intel pro-cessor technology, Hitachi blades also offer advanced functionality not available on other x86 based servers which make them uniquely suited to support mission-critical applications and converged cloud infrastructures. Brocade Networking ComponentsHitachi UCP solutions integrate both Brocade Fibre Channel and Ethernet fabric technolo-gies, including embedded switches for Hitachi Compute Blade servers. Brocade fabric-based switches and adapters are built for virtualization and the cloud. They offer high performance and resiliency for Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NAS storage environments, and deliver the simplicity and virtualization awareness that the cloud demands. Fabrics are different from standard hierarchical net-works; they include properties such as self- aggregation, self-healing, transparent internal topology, and Layer 2 multi-pathing, to optimize resources and minimize manual intervention. Brocade network components are essential to UCP solutions and are fully integrated, pre-wired and automatically configured.
Ethernet Fabrics: Brocade VDX Switches
Ethernet Fabrics complement UCP solutions by simplifying network architecture and auto-mating network setup and management tasks. Compared to classic Ethernet architectures,
Ethernet fabrics allow all paths to be active, eliminating the need for Spanning Tree Protocol and provides greater scalability. At the same time, they reduce management complexity. Ethernet fabrics can interoper-ate with existing Ethernet networks. These flexible fabrics can be architected in any topology to best meet the needs of any vari-ety of workloads. They can use multiple “least cost” paths for high performance and high reliability, scaling up and down as needed.
Ethernet fabrics built on Brocade VCS Fabric technology provide unmatched virtual machine (VM) awareness and automation compared to traditional network architectures and competitive fabric offerings. Brocade VCS Fabric technology is an innovative technology that enables organizations to build high performance, cloud-optimized data centers while preserving existing net-work designs and cabling, and gaining active-active server connections.
For scale-out fabric architectures, Brocade VCS Fabric technology allows organizations to simplify and flatten network designs, provide VM mobility without network reconfiguration, and manage the entire fabric more efficiently. The Brocade Gen 5 switches provide the critical building block for highly virtualized, private cloud storage environments, simplifying server virtualiza-tion and virtual desktop infrastructure management while meeting high-through-put demands of solid-state disks.
