Logging

Find log files in this location:

[Installed drive]\Program Files\Hitachi\HitachiHANAAdapter\Log

The adapter supports the following logging levels:

NORMAL

VERBOSE

MINIMAL

The default logging level is NORMAL. You can change the logging level in the

HiHanaWebService.Config file in the installation folder as shown below:

Log Generation and Rotation

Multiple log generation and rotation of the adapter log files create multiple log

files. The active log filename is hiHANA.log.

The log generation and rotation of the adapter log files allow you to do the following:

Log multiple processes to the same file.

Determine the maximum number of consecutive files by using a user-specified parameter or a system default.

Rotate the current or active log file by incrementing the log file name, appending consecutive numbers that start from zero to a user-specified

limit or a system default.

Log the entries that are written to a temporary file when the log file is locked at the time of the rotation. The backup file is created, and

rotation stops. After the log file is unlocked, rotation continues, but the temporary files are not deleted. The temporary file name is

hiHANA.log.tmp.

Specify a maximum log file size in hilogger.config by creating a key

called [MaxFileSize] in a separate line. The minimum value is 5MB, and the maximum value is 100MB.

If [MaxFileSize] is not specified in hilogger.config, the default value is

10MB.

If [MaxFileSize] is out of range, the default value is 10MB.

Specify a maximum backup log file in hilogger.config by creating a

key call [MaxBackupIndex] on a separate line. The minimum value is 1,

and the maximum value is 255.

If [MaxBackupIndex] is not specified in hilogger.config, the

default value is 5.

Logging, Troubleshooting, and Error Messages 55

Hitachi Server Adapter for the SAP HANA Cockpit User’s Guide

If the [MaxBackupIndex] value is out of range, it defaults to 5.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Recommended Action

The Config HCSM

fail to connect to the

HCSM server. They

display ”invalid

username/password.

Ensure that the credentials supplied are correct.

A HCSM server call

failed for the

operation.

Do the following:

Check the HiHANA.log for the cause of the error, as

described in the Error Messages section.

Change the log level to VERBOSE, and then retry the

operation.

The HCSM Config

fails to connect to

the HCSM server.

They display

Invalid protocol

HTTPS protocol to

communicate with a

HCSM server that

has a self-signed

SSL certification.

When you use

Internet Explorer to

access the HCSM

web page by HTTPS

on the same

machine, Internet

Explorer displays

Certificate Error.

Gain trust in the self-signed SSL certification by executing

the following steps:

1. Use Internet Explorer to browse the HCSM webpage

whose certificate you want to trust. For example:

https://<HCSMIPaddress>:22018/ComputeSystemsManag

er/index.jsp)

2. When the message There is a problem with this

website's security certificate appears, choose

"Continue to this website (not recommended)."

3. Click Certificate Error at the right of the address bar,

and then select View Certificates.

4. Click Install Certificate. Go to the wizard, and then

click Next.

5. On the following page, select Place all certificates in

the following store.

6. Click Browse, select Trusted Root Certification

Authorities, and then click OK.

7. Back in the wizard, click Next, and then click Finish.

8. If a Security Warning message appears, click Yes.

9. Shut down all running instances of Internet Explorer, and

then restart Internet Explorer.

The HCSM's SSL certificate should now be

trustworthy.
