Hitachi, Ltd. started business in Korea in 1962 in a form of the place of
sojourn affiliated with Hitachi, Ltd. Fast-forward to October 2009, Hitachi
Korea Ltd. was launched through the merger of Hitachi, Ltd’s three
former organizations (Hitachi Railways Systems Korea Ltd., Hitachi, Ltd.
Korea Branch, and Hitachi East Asia Ltd. Korea Branch).
In 2012, Hitachi Korea marked its 50th anniversary since it started
business as Hitachi Group in Korea. Hitachi Group extends heartfelt
thanks to stakeholders in various circles in Korea for giving Hitachi
Group the opportunity to be able to contribute to diverse fields such as
economy, industries and society in Korea over a long period of time for
almost half a century.
As you can feel in your everyday lives, economy, society and technolo-
gies are changing at high speed. Once again, I am proud of Hitachi
Group’s proposal and offering of diverse solutions to steadily growing
Korean economy through such changes, and Korean business which is
expanding its areas while playing an active role in all parts of the world.

The present world is said to be an era of volatility,

Hitachi is supplying IGBT module as a core of the high power conversion system, which moves high-speed train, subway, EV/HEV and Energy Storage System (ESS), etc. to a wide range of corporate clients across the world. The Module created by using next generation high-efficiency silicon carbide (SiC), which has recently come into focus, is contributing to social advancement as a much eco-friendlier product having advantages like unexcelled reduction in losses, miniaturization and lightening of the inverter, and reduction in expenses for maintenance, etc.
Hitachi’s state-of-the-art medical service technology is endlessly developing for the sake of mankind’s health and life extension. Especially, high-voltage Multiplexer IC which becomes a core of image output such as ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, industrial non-destructive inspection equipment, etc., has already been selected and used for line-up of various ultrasonic diagnostic equipment by major companies in Korea and various countries of the world, taking the lead in the development of medical service equipment.
The use of BLDC Motor for daily necessity home appliances such as air-conditioning, washing machine, air purifier, boiler and hair-dryer, etc. is rapidly increasing in the light of energy efficiency for preventing global warming. Hitachi high-voltage Inverter IC is contributing to prevent global warming through the reduction in electricity consump-tion by means of efficiency maximization of BLDC Motor which is used for the above home appliances.
Hitachi is providing optimal solutions to passenger protection from safety accidents consequent on the increase in the demand for automobiles, and automobile performance improvement. Hitachi’s A-train is performing a core role in Korea's railway industry where connectivity between satellite cities and provincial cities matters. A-train provides unexcelled technical skills and reliability in the items such as ‘acceleration and deceleration’, ‘high-speed stability’, and ‘high-speed scheduled speed’ (a speed calculated by dividing a train mileage by rail time plus dwell time at a station) in comparison with an electric train of a traction system or concentrated traction system. On top of it, High & Semi-High Speed Multiple Power EMU has been recognized as a world-class brand through its aluminum material excelling in lightweight and re-use rate, tunnel ventilation system and prolific global performance, etc.
Hitachi’s operation management system is proud of its world-class high density property and punctuality, and this system has been adopted and operated by Japan’s Shinkansen, and urban railway in Tokyo. Besides, Hitachi’s signaling system is responding to the European standard, ERTMS, and proceeding with business development with Asia and Europe as the center together with the group company-Hitachi Rail STS. In addition, the signaling system of CBTC (Communication-based Train Control) system based on performance of high density and high reliability is being widely used in urban railway fields.
Hitachi’s railway electric power transformation system is gaining subway train users’ high trust in stable operation of DC Traction Power Supply System for Seoul Subway lines 1 and 2. In addition, Lithium-Ion Battery-type Regenerative Power Storage System (B-CHOP) is widely supplied to rail operation companies which set much value on energy efficiency. Recently, in the railway market where ‘Eco-Friendliness’ by means of CO2 emissions trading rights is being emphasized, we are innovating ‘Eco-friendly electric railway power supply’ with our advanced technologies.
In the Korean urban environment, it is becoming more important than anything else to wisely respond to congested traffic volume like commuting to school, commuting to work and shopping, etc., which inordinately flock to the downtown areas due to the diffusion of urbanization of neighboring areas. Moreover, it’s difficult to ask for citizens’ understanding of new construction of gigantic elevated structures which disrupts downtown landscapes and solar lights, and underground construction requires enormous expenses.
Hitachi’s straddle-type monorail system is minimizing damage to downtown landscapes and environment with a simple structure based on the PC Beam construction method. In addition, this method of construc-tion makes it easier to save building costs and shorten the construction period, and can minimize road traffic inconvenience during the construction period. After launch, the straddle-type monorail system would serve to not only carry out an urban railway task but also lead revival of the tourism industry by emerging as a new urban symbol.
The quality of the Hitachi Railway System is recognized for its delivery of domestic new-type EMU Nooriro car, Daegu urban railway Line 3 monorail car, and substation facilities. Hitachi Railway System is supporting stable maintenance work on the basis of its experiences of system specification, and safety & test standard, etc. which are required by railway-related legislations and regulations, not to mention customer needs. On the basis of experiences in railway system design, railway manufacturing and quality assurance, Hitachi Railway System is carrying out the role of accident prevention and maintenance through the sharing and analyzing data real-time. Hitachi Korea is dedicated to make contributions to Korean society by expanding and strengthening the maintenance business of the domestic railway system, and practicing the task of protecting the public transportation.

IT Network Service realizes a high-degree information security network and reasonable line service charges by integrating Hitachi Korea Group’s networks. the hitherto mostly used dedicated line makes the burden of line service charges unavoidable according as the amount of traffic increases along with IT advancement.
