Hitachi is the leading manufacturer of hydroelectric equipment inJapan and ranks among the top corporations worldwide. Moreover,Hitachi is a fully integrated company with all the R&D, design, andmanufacturing resources needed to undertake any project in anypart of the world.
Hitachi first entered the hydroelectric equipment field in 1911with the production of a 300 HP output Pelton turbine and a 250 kVAgenerator. This was followed by long years of both theoretical andpractical experience in the research, design, manufacturing,installation and operation of hydroelectric equipment, enablingHitachi to produce the highest quality equipment. Since 1911 we havebuilt and installed over 1,400 turbines (64,000 MW) and over 1,300generators (46,000 MVA). This means our engineers have extensivedesign experience in every type of turbine (e.g., Pelton, Francis,Diagonal Flow, Kaplan, and Tubular) and generator used inconventional and pumped-storage plants. It also means our know-how covers all other aspects of hydroelectric plants, includinggovernors, inlet valves, excitation systems, and other types ofancillary and control equipment. Our accumulated experience as amanufacturer is an invaluable asset. Hitachi can design any systemor piece of equipment using the latest model test, quality control,and system engineering techniques.
This brochure has been prepared to provide a briefintroduction to Hitachi’s hydroelectric power generating equipment.
