A WebQuest for

Technology students

in Grades 6-8

IntroductionWe have now discussed the major advances in technology,and technology trends for the future.

Students will now investigate a time period in history and report on themajor technologies from that timePeriod.

Students will present their research using PowerPoint.

2-3 students working together will choose 1 of the 10 time periods

in the “Timelines of Science and

Technology” series to investigate.

Volume 1: Origins of Science: Prehistory – 850 B.C.

Volume 2: Classical and Early Medieval Science: 849 B.C. – 999 A.D.

Volume 3: Late Medieval and Renaissance Science: 1000-1624

Volume 4: The Scientific Revolution: 1625-1774

Volume 5: The Industrial Revolution: 1775- 1839

Volume 6: The Age of Steam: 1840-1884

Volume 7: The Age of Electricity: 1885-1919

Volume 8: The Atomic Age: 1920-1949

Volume 9: The Space Age: 1950-1979

Volume 10: The Modern World: 1980 - Present

The Task• Your group will research 10 major technologies from

that time period and present a PowerPoint presentation to the entire class on your findings.

• The presentation must include:• 1. Title Slide• 2. Minimum 10 technologies from the time

period (1-2 slides per technology) • 3. Choose 1 technology from that time that

has influenced you and/or the world today.• 4. All slides must include text and pictures.

The Process

• After taking an Introduction to PowerPoint course, students will choose 1-2 students to work with.

• Students will select a time period.• Using the volume series as well as Nettrekker,

investigate your time period and choose 10 technologies to present via PowerPoint to your class.
